not enough port area, see where it say port area range? You port area should to be between those numbers.
-
A ported box will be great, also, shop around for some deals, all that for $7000 is a bit dodgy. I know how expensive stuff gets when you live down here (NZ), but I managed to find my amps second hand at give away prices (3Kw mono Atomic $900, 80w 2chan Atomic $100) both are amazing prices for super great amps (internally the same a Sundown). So I suggest having a look around on Australian car audio forums and find some cool bassheads nearby that will help you find deals.
I can design a ported box for you if you want.
-
If you're careful with the gains it will be fine.
Also, you will have a hard time finding a amp for $150
-
What do mean by bend? lol. Ive never made/designed a box before if you can't tell lol.
So that it makes a L shape
like that. Except it will bend up on yours.
-
So something like this?
The port would have to bend when it hit the back of the box but otherwise, yep
-
I don't have the box calculator thingy so I'm not sure how big to make the port for it to be 30hz lol.
You could make it
height: 6
width: 20
length: 25
thats tuned to 30hz before you take away woofer volume and any bracing.
-
First time using Sketchup, What do you think?
1 1/2" MDF
Height: 23" With Double baffle and flush mount
Depth: 26"
Width: 47"
Port Height: 9"
Port Width: 18"
Port Depth: 6" (I'm not sure how deep to make it for 30Hz, Help?)
A bit big, ~8 cubes would be better. You have ~11.
And port has too much area. With a port like that it is impossible to tune it to 30hz (and 6"s makes it 48hz)
Fix those to things and you will be good.

I say back of the seat.

Adding a battery wouldn't solve an overdrawing problem because batteries don't generate more power, silly.
So, my switch to my amps ...one of the wires was loose..stupid solder. And my grounds were getting a bit loose somehow, but I fixed and played music for about 5 minutes and no problem. I'll know by tomorrow if that was the problem.
Appreciate the help gentlemen. =]
edit: the amps weren't going into protect, just turning off and turning back on shortly, which is why i think the remote wire switch was the problem.
^
You can't be serious, it doesn't have to make power, just supply it.
Why else does everyone add more batteries?
-
I seen it, But I want to do a box like Steve's so I have a place for 4 battery's. I could fold my back seats forward so they sit Vertical that would get me a little more space. I don't really ever have people that ride in my back seat but its nice to have it if I need it lol.
Don't fold your seats forward, it will be super uncomfortable if anyone has to sit there.
Building around the wheel wells will be a pain, but it will give you more space. Where will the amp be going?
-
Yep, I don't exist.
I said there isn't a awfully large amount of space back there, you can squeeze 8 cubes out of it, but there won't be much room for the port to breathe.
-
I got
height: 20
width: 37.5 (that would probably fit a battery on each side of the box or both on one side)
depth: 22
port height: 4
port width: 15
port length: 25
Thats tuned to 31.4hz using 1.5" thick wood. which is probably minimum for 2 XL 15"s. It's really pushing it on port area and box volume for those woofers though.
Might be able to come up with something better if I spent some time on it though.

LOL x2 I can smell the coils burnin from here
You sure that ain't dinner? lol jk
Really though, it's sad how this is how the majority of sony xplod amplifier outputs look
-
Does a coil fry gradually? Or just in a second
Depends, have a look on youtube at videos of people blowing subs, some last for 5 minutes, some blow instantly. I depends on amount of overpowering and amount of clipping. I can give x subwoofer 200RMS more, and it will be fine, but if it is even slightly clipped, it will blow after a minute. But if I also give x subwoofer 400RMS more, even if it's clean, it will still blow after a minute. But give x subwoofer rated wattage, but clipped and it may blow over a week of use.
Make sense?
-
I wouldn't call the second one slightly clipped, it looks pretty damn bad.
-
Do the 6 12"s, it will easily do a 130, if you can a sony tunnel would be amazing! 8 12"s maybe.
-
that would be a great choice if it was in production
Is it not made anymore? daaaamn!
How exactly does a q fit in there?
I don't know mate, I don't know...
-
DC lvl 1 or 2.
DD 500b or 1000b series.
RE REX series.
Fi Q
etc etc, there are some sub ideas, couldn't say about amps though
-
James speaks the truth.
Don't mix the amps, if you have to keep the subs, keep them, but use 1 good amp, not two mis-matched ones.
If your on a really tight budget, go for Pioneer, it's many times better than visonik.
Try to save up and get good equipment first time though.

Box:
Height - 16"
Width - 25"
Depth - 20"
Port:
Height- 14" 1/2
Width - 3"
Length - 28" (put a 45 at the corner to help the air flow better)
If you want you can change the port length to 25" but the tuning will rise to 36hz
Any questions, just ask
for some reason the PM didn't work?
-
15 is the outer dimensions so the top screw and the bottom screw would be going into the top and bottom piece of the box. the overhang where the screws go in to hold the sub is 3/4 inch. it could go to 16 but no bigger cause it would not fit in the trunk max wide 2feet max deep 3feet any time because ill probable be matting the trunk tomorrow instead of building the box so whenever and thank for all the help i really appreciate it
Ok, 15" it shall be, as long as you are sure it will fit the sub. Tonight it is then.
-
the only problem is the box has to be 15inch tall everything else can be whatever it takes for 3cube and to have it tuned to 35hz and the mfd is 3/4inch thick
How do you fit a 15"woofer in a 15" box?
I still need max dimensions. Even though I won't use the full space.
When do you need it by? tonight?
-
sorry for all the dumb question but this is the first box im tring to get as perfect as possible whats 4 by 10 mean 4 wide ten deap
4" wide by 10" high and then however deep it has to be to tune it to 35hz.'
I can design it for you if you give me dimensions.
-
so your saying if the box is 3 cube the port should have 42 square inches
yep. It's not that big, 4"s by 10"s.
Need a box Design
