  1. you want to hook up door speakers directly to a 15" sub then connect the sub to an amp? and no one has told you this is a horrible idea yet? because its fucking retarded. or maybe i just dont understand wtf your saying.

He wants to hook up his floorstanders in his room up to some random amp. but he wants 4 speakers on the two channel amp, and it needs to be above 8 ohms. so he can only go for 16, but he wants it lower so he can draw more power. The 15 idea was to lower the ohmage, but it would fail

  2. k i need an 8 or higher ohm load this is what im wanting to do i have 4 sets of speakers all together im thinking take 1 pair and wire them up in serios together so now 2 sets of towers each wired to 16ohms. now what would my ohm be if i wired each of those 2 sides to a single 15 with dual 2ohm coils. so one side to each of the 15s coils

so 16ohm wired parallel to a 2ohm would be what? around about idea

Your not really meant to mix ohmages like that.

you would get 1.6ohms or something like that, its parallel is always less than the smallest value.

maybe you should get a separate amp for the 15, it would sound better anyway :-)

  3. i wouldnt mind having a w3 or something small like that for temporary bump, but im not paying 500 bucks for a sub that wont be as loud or clean sounding as a $200 sub. i'll admit, they do make good stuff, its just pricey. and if you know what your doing and throw the right amount of power to them, they can sound pretty good (dont bash me for this lol)

Nah it's all good, like you say, they are decent products. Just way overpriced.

  4. im not going to lie, i was at tex mex this past weekend and there was a tahoe with 4 w7's in it with about 4 jl/1000's or whatever and only 2 were playing and i was in no way impressed with how they sounded. they werent loud and they had no significant sq, the enclosure was fiberglassed and sealed.

I guess the guy just sucks balls at building enclosures! lol.

If only 2 were going, then wouldn't that be the problem? unless it was passive radiators.

  5. Yeah. He's not really a reliable source when it comes to car audio. I thought on their site it said if you over power them the warrenty was voided? I could be wrong, haven't been on their site in ages. But one of the examples he tried giving me was if you stabbed it with a screwdriver they'd seen you a new one. Made me lol.

Yeah their site may have said that, which would also void his statement.

I'm pretty sure no speaker company would accept that reason and refund you!

  6. tl;dr

AZombiesMinge GO JL AUDIO, F**K you haters who can't afford one. I went with an RE XXX because everyone says the speaker is underrated and with the same power to it(2x JL 1000/1) the W7 outperformed to RE in volume and quality 3 weeks ago

bassl0va in no way would a JL W7 beat a RE XXX.

and also JL doesn't suck like people say, its just not worth the price it costs. 3 weeks ago

AZombiesMinge Maybe if the RE XXX ad more power it would have been able to outperform th W7. Not everyone can wants to run 15,000 watts in their car. I think JL W7 is more than worth the cost. 3 weeks ago

bassl0va yeah, it's mainly power and box design so either could win. A JL W7 would easy beat a RE XXX at SQ cause a XXX is SPL and W7 is SQ. But it all depends on the box and the power. I only say that they are over priced because a retail of $439.95 for a 8" is quite alot and so are the bigger ones. Oh well, they look nice and sound nice and make bass so i don't really mind :-) 3 weeks ago

calvinblinkee Too much ganja? XXX is SQ. W7 is like SQL. 2 days ago

for all the lazy ones :-P
