  1. Nah id look elsewhere...I had a nice batt bank to back that amp up so it never saw any drop. Just wasn't impressed at all. And IMO and amp that supposedly does 2200 at .5 should have bigger that 4g power and ground inputs...

well thanks for that i think ill pass on those then.

they have 4 guage inputs???nea.gif i didnt even see that. yea im deff stayin away from those

  2. I've got a buddy with one...was not impressed with it at all. Borrowed it for a few days til my big amp came in. There's no way it does rated...

    hmm...thats not good...maybe i should look elsewhere dry.gif

i think they are rated full output @ 0.5 ohm

well yeah the dtr1.2200 is rated 2200 at .5 ohm but i wasn't sure if they actually put out true rms at 14.4 volts or whatever voltage theyre rated at

  3. Don't have an Impala but Mechman is a very good brand. Really good customer service I hear.

yea i heard so too and as of right now, im kind of leaning towards mechman but i just want more input from more people with the same car since they know which alternator/brand they could recommend --WAIT!! you have a grand am, basicly the same motor if its the 3.4 sfi (since thats what i have) do you have a H/O alternator? what do you recomment without being biased?

  4. ok so im in need of a extra battery AND alternator so i wanna ask everybody here with experience.

who here who has a 2000 01 02 03 04 or 05 impala have a H/O alternator? which is the best deal for the amperage out right now?

i know cheap does not equal good deal but i need input on people who actually have the same car

i know DC/ Mechman/ and a website called motorcityreman that also makes HO alternators.

i need one so i want to have input on most/ all of these to know which is the most reliable/best alternator company to go with

thanks in advance to everybody who helps

  5. whenever theirs 3 common port walls means the port is going to be a slot port on the side of the box..like the subs would be facing up and the port would be on either the left or right of both subs vertical

the way your wanting to port your box you would put in 1 instead of 3 common port walls

i think it would tune it 1 htz higher

  6. you cant recone to change the impedance on Fi woofers unless you get the universal option when you first buy the woofer.

    also, http://www.sonicelec...cosche+RLC.html problem solved

well thats why i did my research and got the universal optiondirol.gif

and how reliable are those level control knobs?

i see it comes with a 1 year manufacture guarantee but i dont like hassling with all the problems trying to replace or fix the thing

  7. get a dmm...i dont know why you have such a large amp and you cant spring $15 for a dmm. dont even touch bass boost, or "bass knob" as you call it. unplug that freaking remote since its practically useless (in my eyes at least). and turning both knobs doesnt necessarily lead to clipping, but its far easier to clip that way. think about it this way. lets say you have the gain tuned so the amp can output the most CLEAN power that it can. then turning the bass boost knob up will lead the amp into clipping. now you may be thinking, why not just turn the gain down and turn the bassboost up? well why the hell would you want to make 45hz louder than every other frequency you can play?

edit: oh and also, x2 what dugee said.

lol OK now i get what your saying. oh and the amp was a gift i didn't buy it

i was just using the "bass boost" knob so i can turn the bass all the way down without having to mess with the EQ on my double din since its such a hassle.

is their a knob i can use to lower my bass without it messing with the bass boost? because thats what i basically want it for

well at least now i know how to blow my sub when im ready to recone it to change the impedance cool.gif

  8. I don't think gain = watts really, could be wrong though.

well i was just guessing/estimating about how many watts i was getting to the sub since nothing was turned more than half way except for the bass knob

and does turning both the gain AND the bass knob lead to clipping??

i dont have a dmm or a volt meter or clamp or any of those electrical tools to adjust anything so i was tuning by ear but then again i can definitely be clipping and not know it just because i dont hear any distortion

  9. so today to waste some time since i was bored all day, i decide to take out my 15 fi bl and connect it to my amp and free air it.

i had it connected at 2 ohms on my hifonics brutus bxi 2610 with the gain less than half way up so im guessing it was feeding the sub about 500 or 600 watts

the bl is fully loaded btw

so i get my cd with frequencies and i play 18 htz and have the bass knob 3/4 way up when i hear some noise that ive never heard before

    is this normal?

  10. damn was hoping you were in houston, lol i woulda helped you out there bro

one of my friends just graduated from UTI so hes over here now. i have a few TX ppl who know how to do shit but the ppl here in fort worth that i know actually come to me...sad to say but they dont know what they're talking about. i know more than them and they went to college lol

  11. 34hz is perfectly fine. itll play down to 30hz ok.

i almost had the same problem with a friends car. luckily we only had to take out the speakers in the rear deck and it slid in.

really? since its not going to be tuned to 31 hz like i planed it to be how long would it be able to play songs that have a couple seconds that have like...lets say 30 hz? i dont want to take a risk and blow my sub and have to get a recone since im a broke college student lol

  12. The next car lot or person to own the car won't even notice a few inches of metal gone, I did a cavalier install that I cut all the rear seat support out of and welded in 2 small pieces after we crammed the box in the trunk, seat still sits fine and unless I told ya you'd never even know it was chopped.

thats true. i have all the carpet out and also the large piece of wood/fiberglass that covers my rear 6x9s (i have no idea what thats called.) if i ever cut the support i could always just put everything back together and no one will notice it just by glancing around but with my luck someone will lol
