  1. What you could do is play each 40hz tone at a low ( but same ) volume. Then you may he able to understand that -15 is recorded lower then the -5 tone, so you would have more gain. But if the music that is played is recorded at -5 and you tune with-15, then it could cause harm to your system. I don't believe there is a way to tell what music is recorded at, but listen to decaf or you could just read the manual that came with the dd1 and you would have not problem. tuning at 0db would result in the least amount of gain, and would be the safest of them all. But, I would not tune there. Minimum would be at -5.

  2. To be honest, I've installed type R's in 2 differant cars and I was not impressed with them. The two customers also diddnt like them and want to change them out ( they gave me the equipment, i just installed it).I diddnt like the way they sounded, and just was not happy with them. Im currently running CDT's in my front stage and like them, a WHOLE lot more then the alpines. Future setup is going to be some Image Dyamics I think. Oxnard is SoCal, right? Im sure someone on here will have them installed or you could find a shop that has them. Hell i think even bestbuy had them. For the same if not cheaper you can go with these which is what i may run

It would be sick to have all the same eqiupment, but i think there is better out there for the same/close price range

  3. Never heard of Cafe sport. Alcatraz is the shit though. Ive done the tour about 5 times. The city in itself is kinda cool. The BART ( which is the bays "subway" system ), is pretty easy to use. They can get you almost anywere in the bay at all differant times. From what I remember, it does not run 24/7 though. Have they given you a general area where you will be staying, or address?

  4. Right on. My shits just not tuned right right now. I'm gettin a terrible burnt smell from my coil. I posted about that and I got advice about the distortion test so now I'm searching for that. I hope that does it. I've already been threw one cone from it.

I think there is a O-scope/DD1 access list in the tool section. Maybe there is a member in your area that has one. May have to drop some money to use it, or buy beer.

  5. Ive heard hertz before and they sound awesome. I wish that i could afford some. Never heard hertz before, but from what ive read they also sound good. You would be underpowering them

So you heard hertz before but youve never heard hertz before?

My bad, heard hertz not focal.

  6. I know he has a helix, but Diddnt know he used it with the dd1. I know he used the cc1, which I believe is the same as the helix. You tune with the dd1 first then use the helix, or the cc1.

you can of course use a Helix with a DD-1, why wouldnt you be able to? :pardon:

So i decided to buy DD-1 and Helix crossover setup sys.i have got my dd-1 and waiting for the Helix.

i did watch a youtube video,Steve was adjusting the amplifier with those two equipment.

i am curious about how you did that with the 1 CH MONO SUB AMP.i read the manual and the nature of dd-1 and x-just sounds like ya cannot use both .

do ya guys have any idea?

no, the CC-1 and Helix are NOT the same. Not at all. They both operate totally different. Besides the way it works, the CC-1 also has extra features built into it besides just crossover calibration :peepwall:

I dont even want to get into the price difference either...anyway, just thought i would chime in on the subject.

Nevermind, I looked again and saw the video.

  7. I tested out my DD-1 on my high amps. It worked just as good as the first day I set them. Im not sure what is going on with the sub amp. Maybe it is setting correctly but when I did the old sub amp that I had the gain was set alot higher than what it is with this one. Not sure what could be going on.

You're not comparing two seperate sub amps are you? Even if they are the same model the gain won't be in the exact spot on both

    x2

and the h/u has to do at what level the amps will start to clip, different h/u send different amount on voltage to the amps so if you have an amp that does not clip with one h/u it dont meant it wont clip when you install it to a different h/u

He changed out the sub amps, not the head units
