  1. I was in the exact same boat in February. My dad had shot himself, the last time I seen him maybe 2 days prior I had waved at him and he looked me in the eye and didn't acknowledge me at all. It has been that way my entire life.

I can honestly say I didn't care one bit that he died. I have all kinds of people that tell me I need to talk to someone about it, but honestly I could give a shit less...I don't concider him a father not even the slightest.

So I for sure understand what you're going through Steve, its a weird feeling no doubt.

  2. Step one: Go to sears

Step two: Buy craftsman multimeter (Around $20, its the best for the $$$)

    Step three: Install 9v battery

Step four: Turn on the multimeter and turn it to OHMS.

Step five: Hook the positive & negative leads to one of the coils of the woofer.

This should give you a reading, if the reading is around 2... (1.7-1.8 etc etc) it is fine (even 2.1-2.2)....

Now if the reading starts going crazy and reading all types of numbers it means the coil is blown.

  3. Powerbass XTA 5000 used but in perfect working condition. Does some scratches from being mounted. $700 plus shipping. PM me if you are interested.

Have you ever clamped one of those? Just curious...I'm thinking of going with a Cactus k5...just trying to weigh out my options

  4. Looking for a 5k+ amp...needs to be at least 5k rms and no more than 6k rms at 14.4v (due to my class limitations)

I also need it to be .5 stable.

I have $$$ ready to go

I also would prefer to buy new if the price is right but I will buy used if its in good condition.

  5. i would think some CA or rubber glue like all the companies use, but not many deal with caps like those. i would call rusty or see what others think. pic of the issue?

CA probably wouldnt be the best choice...unless you were really quick at spraying activator and putting it on.

I would suggest some epoxy from walmart. It has a special tube that mixes when you press down the handle. Id apply a good amount and let it sit overnight.

  6. northstar didnt have a car specific battery until just recently. They were meant to power uninterruptible power supplies. They were never designed to be rapidly discharged and then recharged. not to mention how ginormous they are can be a bitch to fit anywhere.

The NSB G-31 isnt big at all. Same size as a d3100 I believe. It will (and does) put any other group 31 battery on the market to shame lol

  7. Hello everyone. I own a jeep grand Cherokee srt8 with four Rockford fosgate p3 15"s and two 1500.1 Rockford class d amp.

I currently hit a 150.9 with this current setup. I'am looking for a more meaner system. I need help deciding wat will

Give me more spl in my truck between four kicker l7 15"s and one crescendo audio bc5500 or two fi sp4 18"s and

Two crescendo bc3500's. I have roughly about 13 to 14 cubic ft of airspace to play with.. Can anybody help me out.

There are so many variables that will go into this. My suggestion would be to play with different box designs with the p3's til you absolutely stop gaining...then if you are not satisfied I would switch woofers.

That being said, for your jeep I would probably stick with 2 15's, two 18's you could fit, but it will limit the airspace you have for a enclosure more. I had two dd9515g's in my jeep and I was doing 151.9 sealed and 153.7 in the kick on about that same power you plan on running.

  8. Ok so i own a 2001 VW Jetta Wagon 2.0 and i want to add more bass but the problem is already at 1.5-2k watts my voltage is super low and my capacitor reads about 10-11 on average but I've seen it get to 9 when my bass was slamming but i know that's a horrible reading my question is... would i have enough space to fit 2 alternators under my hood??? And would two alternators do the job of powering something huge??? Also does anyone know where i can find a H/O alternator for my car??? I'm still going to upgrade to a deep cycle marine battery and do the big 3 upgrade and upgrade my capacitor... My goal is to buy either buy 2 Rockford T2's or 2 SSA ZCON 15's. Now with all that said it should do the trick to power either of them properly right???

Okay, first thing...Scrap the capacitor. Its not helping you.

Secondly, do the big 3 with good connections and good wire. Then test again and see where your voltage stands. If its still dropping below 12v then I would think about getting a upgraded alternator, there is no need for you to use more than one alternator for that little power. Upgrading your battery under the hood will help a lot as well.

Also if you want "more bass" look into your box design. I'm assuming you are using a prefab box, making your own or having someone make you a custom box will greatly increase your output.

  9. By the way i'm using this as the starter battery. I had people tell me go to the 1400 since i'm running 1000rms.

Id always suggest the bigger battery ether way lol...and you dont need the battery under the hood for it to work. Ive seen several people without batteries under the hood...ALSO...there are a lot of stock vehicles with starting batteries in the trunk and such.

  10. I think I decided that i'm either getting fi BL's, either 2 10s or 2 12s. I like how little of space the 10s take up, but I know that 2 12s are lowder. The question is how much lowder are they? I know you can't really explain it and I should listen to them in person, but I can't do that. The main thing is I like to feel the bass like when you can feel it in your hair that kind of bass. How much better would the 12s be then the 10s. Please try to help me.

    Thanks

10's can be (and are in alot of cases) LOUDer (not lowd lol) than 12's.

That being said the only real difference between the two is the amount of cone area.

    2 10's has a cone area of 157.08, and 2 12's has a cone area of 226.19

Now that being said, more cone area is (generally) louder on the same amount of power.

Soooo basically it will all depend on what kind of power you are running and the vehicle as well as the type of enclosure you decide to put them in.

Like I said, you can get just as loud if not louder with 2 10's as you can 12's

  11. But I still dont get It, how does a ground to the engine help? You ground stuff to the chassis anyway.

Correct. Everything grounds to the frame/chassis. There is no need for a ground from the engine to the frame...there are huge bolts that ground the engine to the frame...thus making another wire from engine to frame basically useless (but not totally, like I said less resistance). Upgrade the engine ground to the battery, and then the frame to battery. Problem solved.
