Ok I really hate my car right now lol every idea I try to come up with is to much to fit in my trunk without building it in the trunk or tearing it apart to make it fit in the trunk. 2 15XLs wont work, 4 level 3 10s wont fit, 18s are totally out the question. So its down to 2 level 4 12s or 4 level 2 8s. Either set of subs is gonna be on my AQ2200 that I have. Im leaning more towards the 4 8s just because I think they will slam and when people are like what you got and I show them they will be like 4 8s!?!? Lol and I've had 10s, 12s, and 15s in the past. So to my question will the AQ2200 be way to much for the 8s? And what does everyone think am I dumb for wanting the 8s instead of the 12s? What would you do?

175.4 amp?
rboudreaux77 replied to rboudreaux77's topic in DC Sound Lab - Big Bass on ANOTHER LEVEL!
cool thanks. -
on the site it just says 175x4 @ 4ohms and 250x4 @ 2ohms. can the amp be bridged or used as a 2ch amp? if so what are the power ratings? just wondering because im thinking of using one to power 2 DC 8s. im trying to go all DC (i like to match lol) and the smallest amp is 2000x1 and i think that is overkill for 2 8s, but then again it is DC they might be able to take it hahaha

level 5 on a AQ2200?
rboudreaux77 replied to rboudreaux77's topic in DC Sound Lab - Big Bass on ANOTHER LEVEL!
Yeah well I know this already I guess what im trying to say is should I just keep my XL 15 on the 2200 or will upgrading to to level 5 make a big difference or little to no difference at all. I am planning to make a bigger box for the 5 if I get it -
I wanna take the XL 15 I have and put it in my wifes car and get me a level 5 15 to put in mine running on my AQ2200. I wanna know how the 2200 will push the level 5. I know they are pretty beastly and can handle a crap-load but its what I got for now.

15" DC XL on a AQ2200d
rboudreaux77 replied to Emoxihax's topic in DC Sound Lab - Big Bass on ANOTHER LEVEL!
i got a XL 15 on the AQ2200 in the trunk of my impala in around 3.5cuft tuned to 30 Hz and it is great. dont have any numbers yet but im about to make a new box so it will be around 4cuft and possibly facing in the car. -
Thats what ill do. I've seen that done on a few boxes and I was gonna do that for my next box. Right now I have the wires ran through the box and had it series so it wasn't a prob but with my new amp I wired it parallel and thats when I ran into the problem. Im not gonna be changing ohm loads once its hooked up so im not worried about that but ima do it that way anyway. It looks cleaner

What I mean is I am running 10 gauge wire to my sub and the hole in the push post is too small when I wire it parallel to fit 2 ends of 10 gauge wire in there. Right now I have one going in throught the front and one from the back but each is like half way and im scared it will fall out and fuck something up. My aq2200 has 2 pos and neg posts and I know its a 1ch amp so if I run one pos and neg from each to each pos and neg coil will that be the same as going from the amp to one coil and then jumping over like I have it now? If not what are some suggestions? Would 12 gauge wire be good enough for that much power? I hope I wrote that out like im trying to say lol

aq2200 on my XL 15
rboudreaux77 replied to rboudreaux77's topic in DC Sound Lab - Big Bass on ANOTHER LEVEL!
this is my box now its 17inx22inx28in. i think the the port is 3inx15.5in tuned to around 30Hz. i know its not enough port area but i didnt learn about that until after it was built so the next box will be enough this is the view from inside of my new amp and clusterfuck of wires lol i want to get a different battery instead of the redtop but this is the 3rd vehicle it has been in over the last 3 years so it works for now. on the left side of the box is my JL 300/4 for my mids & highs which will soon be a AQ4x90 (gotta match lol) and that wet spot on the bottom left is where it was getting wet for some reason but instead of caulk to seal the inside the box i fiberglassed every corner so its still sealed up and holding thats why it wasnt an emergency. its not 45ed on the inside but the next one will have that also. -
aq2200 on my XL 15
rboudreaux77 replied to rboudreaux77's topic in DC Sound Lab - Big Bass on ANOTHER LEVEL!
I have an 08 impala. Ill try to get some pics of it right now. Its kinda just thrown in there my box got wet on one side from a water leak that is getting in the trunk somewhere so I need to build a new box and I might face it inside or fiberglass it so its waterproof lol I don't know yet and I wanna clean up the wires and maybe make a amp rack. So its not finished like I want yet -
Anybody heard the 6.5 comp set from audioque? Thinking of getting 1 or 2 sets but was wondering how they sound b4 I bought them.

rboudreaux77 replied to rboudreaux77's topic in DC Sound Lab - Big Bass on ANOTHER LEVEL!
I just went to a competition but with my jl 1000/1 on it and hit a 139.2db sealed on the dash and a 140.0db outlaw. I can't wait to see what this one does in the new box. Im gonna do the trunk 1001-up and im shooting for 145db -
Got my audioque 2200 on my XL 15 now and it loves it and so do I! I know everyone loves videos so ill try to get one up soon. I been sick since I put the amp in so I haven't played with it too much myself. Now its time to start working on my new box!

XL 15 in 3cuft ported
rboudreaux77 replied to rboudreaux77's topic in DC Sound Lab - Big Bass on ANOTHER LEVEL!
I thought higher tuning is better for spl? I mean it is my daily but I want good numbers too. The box I got it in now is 30Hz and I just hit a 139.2db legal on 1000 watts -
Well I gave up on the 2 15s idea im just sticking with my 1 and I ordered my AQ2200 just now but thanks anyway

XL 15 in 3cuft ported
rboudreaux77 replied to rboudreaux77's topic in DC Sound Lab - Big Bass on ANOTHER LEVEL!
I just drew up a box that will be 4.18cuft after displacements tuned to 37Hz facing in sealed from the trunk on the AQ2200 That should treat you nicely. Just make sure when you get the amp to set your gain right. Remember the gain IS NOT A POWER KNOB!!!! When we tell you that you will be fine giving a sub over what DC rates it for it is for CLEAN POWER ONLY. Clipping your sub with RMS+ power you are taking a huge risk in burning up your coils and can possibly damage your amp. Yeah I learned that the hard way with my kicker L7 last year. I always thought the gain all the way up was full power and half way half power...I know better now thanks to SMD lol -

XL 15 in 3cuft ported
rboudreaux77 replied to rboudreaux77's topic in DC Sound Lab - Big Bass on ANOTHER LEVEL!
That's only true to an extent and how much "extra" power you are using. 3-5cubes does good for most 15s. Like my 12. DC says 1.5 cubes but I have .8 more then that and it does excellent in it. Well im gonna figure something out for the 1 XL 15 facing in the car on an AQ2200 -
But now im taking suggestions on how to make the new box. I want it facing in the car but I don't know how many cuft and what to port it to on that AQ2200
-
Yeah I been posting all day trying to get help on putting 2 XL 15s in my trunk but I think im going back to my original idea of just my 1 XL 15 I have now on the AQ2200

XL 15 in 3cuft ported
rboudreaux77 replied to rboudreaux77's topic in DC Sound Lab - Big Bass on ANOTHER LEVEL!
I was always told the bigger the box the less power you can put safely and the smaller the box the more power you could put safely
