  1. You need to have subs facing forward and port forward, It has to be sealed off. You need around 20-22 sq inches of port per cube. And tune the box some where around 36-40 hertz and the db's will follow.

Alrite, i like the sound of that. :drink40: So i'm gonna have 2 12 inch dc audio's. What would you recommend for tuning?

Oh & a quick question, do you think those 12's are gonna be a big difference from the l5's? Sure thats a stupid question, but i'm just wondering haha.

  2. yes, facing the woofers and port towards the front of the car (pushing box as close as possible to the little "barrier" that separates the trunk and the cabin) and putting expanding foam around the edges so no air gets into the trunk

Thanks! Thats exactly what I was wondering about the barrier between the trunk and cabin. What kinda foam should I use? Would they sell it at like lowes or home depot?

  3. All depends what you are looking for. If it's going to be a daily driver, tune it what best suits your musical needs. But...in your title, it says SPL setup, so are you only going to be competing with it? If so, you will want to tune it high.

Yeah well it is a daily driver, I just want as much SPL as I can get, I don't know if I should just get two really badass 12's, like some DC level 4's like that dude J00bles, or 2 15's, I want it to hit the low lows.

  4. you can always seal it off from the trunk with 2 15s and port facing forward, or you can do subs facing forward porting off the rear window

So the 2 15's in the trunk, and completely seal off the edges and just have the port in the middle? and for the second one are you talking about having the box sitting on the backseat floor?

  5. I have two L5 kicker 12's in the trunk right now, in kicker manufactured box, from the back seat floor boards, to the back of the trunk is dynomatted (cost a pretty penny) lol. Anyways, i'm selling these subs and box to a buddy, and i'm not sure on what to get next, i'm gonna get a Audiopipe 3000.1d , to start off anyways, what subs would go good with this amp? 12's 15's or an 18? I'm just looking to get max spl out of my car, any thoughts would be much appreciated. The back seat is removed already, should I just stick with something in the trunk? Or just have a box resting on the back seat with like 2 15's? Hit me up! Thanks!

  6. Correct. So start saving money.

I'm just concerned about the resonance factor, I have two L5's in the trunk and those things bang, but because they're in the trunk and when the subs hit all the air is displaced through the whole trunk then out towards the cabin. So are you saying a walled off setup would kinda be the same?

  7. i dont see much reason why not. i mean it doesnt seem like the BEST spl idea but itll work. try it and see.

I'm just trying to get some input on this, what would you (or anyone) recommend as far as box setup and build goes. I had a 15 inch L7 today in my backseat with one slot port on the side and it wasn't hittin for SHIT, just sayin lol. I just want as much SPL as I can get, I need the correct setup tho.

  8. Alrite, so take a look at this video, at the 35 second mark, where you can see Dan's box, he has three ports facing the rear, I was wondering if I could Put those two AQ 15's in a box in my back seat (seats and everything removed already) and have three similar ports going INTO my trunk , and I will fully second skin the whole trunk, as well as foam where needed. Does this sound like a good idea? I just want this bitch to hit hard.

    (take a look)

Would like to get some feedback on this.

  9. hahah maybe thats why the short yellow bus picks me up :drinks:

LMAO, thanks for the responses guys. Yeah they came at dual 2 ohm, I decided i'm just going to get one 15 L7 , I mean. it's going to be in the backseat, the homie is gonna put his in my car to see what it sounds like, lets hope for the best :clapping:

oh, and my car is a 97 honda civic, the same one that steve meade has.
