  1. and it actually sounded good. so dont say it cant. most of the time it doesnt, but mine did for some reason.

I said it's never a good idea..and i'm sticking with it. Glad you liked your setup...wouldnt reccomend it to anyone however...that's my point.

  2. I was just asking how it would sound compared to one 12. I know it's not for high db, I was just askin so I could compare it to what I have now. Yeah, legroom is a bitch in my truck now, but she can always get her own ride if the 12 is better, LoL. I know it's not gonna hit the lows like a 12 would. My setup hits 143 @ 34hz. I know the 8's aren't gonna get that low and still sound good, I know they're more likely to hit between 40-50hz. The box I have now is somewhat tricky to get the space it needs. New010.jpg

The port is at the bottom right of the box facing the amp if you're wondering where it's at. All the seats have to come out to install or remove the box. Just curious about the sound difference between 4 8's and 1 12. What would sound better everyday???

FYI...8's can get low lol. I know from first hand experience with the RE8 that it can get low..the only problem i see in that woofer is its fairly loose suspension. It's rather easy to reach mechanical limits if you overpower the sub from my experience....great little sub though..very effecient..4 of them would definitely get loud in a ported box. You wont be disapointed.

  3. lol. SQL my ass. ANY woofer that is rated at 8500 WRMS is not considered to be SQL. The woofer is meant to take a hell of a beating..and does a good job doing so. I'm not saying you can't use it for music. You can use any SPL sub for music. I was just simply stating that it is an SPL sub and  was designed with the competitors in mind..not the regular ole' street beater.

  4. This was just a daily beat'n setup. Never put it on a meter thouh I would have liked to had I kept my Jeep. It is a single baffle only because I had already made a double baffle..glued it together only to find out i measured I think 1.5" off  :'(. Happens to the best of us I guess. That baffle still sits in my room today and is totally usable heh. The single baffle was all I had left of the 4x8 of MDF so I just stuck with it and then got rid of the jeep. Honestly the Double baffle wouldnt have made much of a difference to my ears anyways so It was no big deal to me...

  5. I'm saying the specific welding cable I bought. I found it to be way too stiff...and just too damn large aside from being ugly as hell. lol. I'm aware that they make flexible wire that big as well..i just don't see the need for it..unless you're doing an all out SPL setup..in which a lot of times people will run several runs of 0ga anyways.

I currently drive a 2000' Infinity I30 with a complete stock sound system as of now. Before that I drove a 93' Jeep Cherokee and went through several setups. Some of which Included: 1 RE8 off an MTX 301D, 1 SE 12 off Viper D1200.1, RE SX18 off Viper D1200.1, 4 Phoenix Gold Octane 15's..all of which were daily setups. I'm planning a new system for my Infiniti and hope to start as soon as funds allow me. Nice forum you've got going here Meade..keep up the good work
