  1. I said it's never a good idea..and i'm sticking with it. Glad you liked your setup...wouldnt reccomend it to anyone however...that's my point.
  2. Well....that's preference. As far as performance goes...it's never a good idea.
  3. Whatever you do..DON'T mix and match subs. Terrible idea..looks so ghetto too lol.
  4. FYI...8's can get low lol. I know from first hand experience with the RE8 that it can get low..the only problem i see in that woofer is its fairly loose suspension. It's rather easy to reach mechanical limits if you overpower the sub from my experience....great little sub though..very effecient..4 of them would definitely get loud in a ported box. You wont be disapointed.
  5. I highly doubt a mainstream company would do a group buy lol..
  6. lol. SQL my ass. ANY woofer that is rated at 8500 WRMS is not considered to be SQL. The woofer is meant to take a hell of a beating..and does a good job doing so. I'm not saying you can't use it for music. You can use any SPL sub for music. I was just simply stating that it is an SPL sub and was designed with the competitors in mind..not the regular ole' street beater.
  7. Actually..they're making some of the best competition amps out right now..maybe you should research a little more.
  8. autotek What's wrong with autotek? Am I missing something here..?
  9. Comparing two totally different woofers there...The SS woofer is designed to be an all out SPL woofer for burps where as the RE is designed with great motor control and SQ in mind with the ability to get loud as well. Not sure if you're talking about the new or old model XXX either. Either way..you're comparing two totally different subwoofers..
  10. I've heard several setups with the 9500's and have liked all of them. They're probably the only MTX sub I would consider using in an install myself. They get pretty loud and sound fairly well doing it.
  11. Hah..no..I bought that box SE used off a forum by a guy that was local to me. I just took it with the box and used it temporarily..that white stuff is some kind of tacky sealent that he used for some odd reason..it looked way worse, but i removed most of it.
  12. I could..but now I have an Infiniti I30 and sold the SX..so the box is pretty much useless now..
  13. This was just a daily beat'n setup. Never put it on a meter thouh I would have liked to had I kept my Jeep. It is a single baffle only because I had already made a double baffle..glued it together only to find out i measured I think 1.5" off :'(. Happens to the best of us I guess. That baffle still sits in my room today and is totally usable heh. The single baffle was all I had left of the 4x8 of MDF so I just stuck with it and then got rid of the jeep. Honestly the Double baffle wouldnt have made much of a difference to my ears anyways so It was no big deal to me...
  14. I'll probably be running a couple of these in my Infiniti..good job on the box!
  15. Thanks! Most of those setups were so temporary that they were never "cleaned up" so excuse the sloppiness heh. The SX was by far the loudest sub I owned, however the SE was the nicest sounding.
  16. Whoops...totally overlooked member showoff forum...meade if ya'd like to move it..go right on ahead.
  17. Here was the 4 PG 15's I ran sealed temporarily before I god rid of my Cherokee.. Single 15" CompVR 2.5 cubes@32hz Singe RE8 1 cube@32 hz SE 12 Excursion pic (only one I had of the SE) 18SX 6.5 Cubes@32hz w/ four 4" Aeros. That's it for now....
  18. I'm saying the specific welding cable I bought. I found it to be way too stiff...and just too damn large aside from being ugly as hell. lol. I'm aware that they make flexible wire that big as well..i just don't see the need for it..unless you're doing an all out SPL setup..in which a lot of times people will run several runs of 0ga anyways.
  19. I ran 2/0 from welding supply in my Jeep and it was quite a PITA. Anything larger than 0 guage gets to be an annoyance IMO. I'd honestly rather run seperate runs of 0 ga than run a single run of 2/0 or larger.
  20. Dave, 18 years old (turning 19 tommorow). Member of CAC.net and Carstereos.org mainly..but also a member on Ecoustics, Termpro, SPLBassX and a couple others. I currently drive a 2000' Infinity I30 with a complete stock sound system as of now. Before that I drove a 93' Jeep Cherokee and went through several setups. Some of which Included: 1 RE8 off an MTX 301D, 1 SE 12 off Viper D1200.1, RE SX18 off Viper D1200.1, 4 Phoenix Gold Octane 15's..all of which were daily setups. I'm planning a new system for my Infiniti and hope to start as soon as funds allow me. Nice forum you've got going here Meade..keep up the good work
