  1. I am wanting to buy a 10" IDMAX woofer. Let me know what you have.
  2. negative sir please read the for sale section rules.
  3. Just replaced the rears with HCX570's and WOW!!! What a difference. Night/day better than the Boston Acoustics. So clear, so precise. Can't wait to upgrade the fronts with some HSK 130's!
  4. Thank you guys. I was considering running 12 awg to be safe but I will try to make it work with my existing wire. I really appreciate all the feedback!!
  5. Hey guys, I'm going to be purchasing some Hertz HSK 130's in a month or so and I am curious if I can continue to run 16awg wire safely to power these mids/highs at 75w RMS? Will 16awg be safe for 100w RMS if I decide to upgrade my amp later? I will be running roughly 12 feet of wire with a passive crossover.
  6. Tweeter pods would be essentially an enclosure specifically for the tweeter correct? Same applies for mids I'm assuming?
  7. After looking into it, I'm thinking about going for the Hertz HCX 570 in the rear and the HSK 130 up front. I'm also considering getting rid of the MTX 9500 DVC and replacing it with a sub that has more sound quality.. I'm currently running 1200w RMS @2ohms. Any sub suggestions that would compliment the Hertz mids/highs?
  8. I'm curious if part of the issue is the 5.25" woofer. I'm thinking that is partially the reason I am missing so much mid-bass. Then again, the 5x7 rears don't put out much mid-bass either.
  9. I looked up those Hertz speakers and they are very impressive!! Have you had any experience with them? How do the Mille's compare to the High Energy's?
  10. Hey guys, I plan on upgrading the mids/highs in my 91 Mustang over summer and I would like input/speaker suggestions. I am currently running Boston S50's and S85's and they don't have quite the output I would like. They have no mid-range bass and the highs get a bit screechy when I push them. I am currently running a 4 channel Kenwood Excelon X4R @ 4ohms pushing 600w rms, 150 to each speaker (far more then they are designed for). I'd like to find a set of speakers that can keep up with my sub which is an MTX 9500 DVC running 1200w @ 2ohms. I've been looking at the Boston SR50's and SR80's but I would like some suggestions from the experts. What speakers should I run? I would like good mid-bass without sacrificing mid-range or highs. Running Component 5.25" up front and Coaxial 5"x7" in the rear.
  11. Since you probably use this on the highway I would keep the stock gearing. You have the 2v 4.6 so I would look into a set of cams, some free flowing exhaust, an SCT tuner (americantrucks.com, this will also help with shift-firmness), and if that isn't quite enough, look into a small/cheap pro-charger or a set of heads. I know a guy with a cammed 2v 4.6 and a pro-charger that is layin down well over 400hp at the wheels. Just know that an SC will rob you of your fuel economy so bear that in mind when looking at power-adders. I think cams, exhaust, chip, and tune are your best bet. Americantrucks.com has a lot of that stuff for sale with free shipping.
  12. Oh hell yeah! When these cars are done right they haul major ass. Real easy to make'm do it too. Even though they are pretty cheap to make fast I don't have the money to finish mine up yet. A few more summers of work and $$$ and it should be real close. Yeah I was thinking of doing deadener but surprisingly I have 0 rattles or squeaks. Its dead silent inside with the exception of the piece of wood which my box is mounted to which will occasionally squeak over rough road. I've been very impressed with the whole setup so far. Unfortunately my car is pretty damn heavy for a foxbody. It has full interior, its an automatic GT, and has 100lb of stereo equipment. They weigh 3251 from the factory... add in my fat ass and the box and its about 3500lbs!!!
  13. Just basic bolt ons for the motor. Throttle body, CAI, MAF w/calibrated injectors, aluminum rad, underdrive pullies, chip/tune, catback. Doesn't do much good with a POS transmission so that is my next challenge. And yup that is my bronco in the garage. Its a great truck. I figured I would post some pics of that up next. Just had the motor rebuilt in it too! BTW nice 78 in your sig! That is sick!
  14. Hey thank you man I really appreciate that! I added a pic of the motor below... I plan on detailing the whole car once I'm back from college in about 2 weeks. I'm gunna fix some paint chips and touchup the trim. I'll keep you updated Thanks again for the compliments bro! Neuman... Here are some pics of the box front before I carpeted it... I designed this in SolidWorks my senior year in high school. Odd ball box design but it sure works well. Except the box and sub together weigh about 100lbs!!! Dropped my ass end about 3/4". Note that I doubled up the MDF on the front of the box because of the weight of the sub. Also added covers on the edges so I could "tuck" the carpet and hide any seams.
  15. LOL! Thank you bro! I appreciate all the compliments guys. The AOD is a pretty shitty trans from the factory but this summer I'll be rebuilding it with some real nice performance parts, hardened input shafts, alto bands/clutches, high-performance OD servo, lentech valvebody, and a 2600/2800rpm stall TC. Should help me keep up with the 5spds. @newls - Thanks for the compliments! I've put almost 13k on it in the last year so there are a few cosmetic touchups that need to be addressed this summer. Probably shouldn't get into politics in my first few posts on the site huh? Lets just say I'm "disappointed" with the entire government right now...
  16. Yeah probably a bit too many pics huh? Thanks for the compliments guys! Glad to be on the forum.
  17. Hey thank you man! When I was looking to buy a car I was originally looking for an SVO. Found a gorgeous black one for $3k in vancouver but it sold before I could nab it. Glad it did though because I love my GT. 16mpg city, 26hwy and tons of fun in between!
  18. Hey guys I am a new member of SMD forums. I've frequently visited the site but never joined. Anyways, my name is Jeff and I am a student at the University of Idaho. If anyone is in the area don't be afraid to hit me up and we can cruise, talk cars, hangout, whatever. The car I'm driving is a '91 Mustang GT. I've had this car for almost 2 years and I've put almost 20k on it. Its one fun ride! I also have a 78 Bronco with a small system in it but I'll save that for later. The most extensive mod I've done to my ride so far has been my stereo system. I did the majority of it on the cheap, getting deals off of craigslist and buying used parts whenever possible. Pics of car (page 1) and system (page 2) at Cardomain: Cardomain Page System: - Kenwood Excelon KDC-X991 Head Unit - Kenwood KDC-500 Ipod Interface - Kicker 2 Channel RCA's (3 Sets) - Kenwood Excelon X1R Monoblock Amplifier 1200w RMS @ 2ohms - Kenwood Excelon X4R 4-Channel Amplifier 600 w RMS @ 4 ohms - Boston Acoustics SX55 Component 5" Speakers with Dash-Mounted Tweeters - Boston Acoustics SX85 Coaxial 5x7 Speakers - MTX 9500 12" DVC Subwoofer Wired at 2ohms. - 1.76 cubic foot Subwoofer Enclosure tuned to 35Hz - Scoche Amplifier Install Kits 4awg and 8awg I know my system isn't outrageous by any standards but its perfect for my daily driver! Here are some pics of its progression (last pics are most current):
