  1. thanks for the call to let me know it was shipping today steve! class A man! and got the tracking
  2. wouldnt the rca voltage be too high?
  3. so take a rca to 3.5 in place of the rca from the headunit that would go into the sub amp and then what with the ipod? oh wait.. are you saying take the ipod.. plug in the 3.5 into it...then plug the rca from the 3.5 into the sub amp and test to see if it plays?
  4. thanks for the call to let me know it was shipping today steve! class A man!
  5. It could be, but I doubt it. Especially if it is getting hot. That most likely has nothing to do w/the hu. Sounds like you just got a bad apple And the RF amps are really nice, but if I'm not mistaken, don't they want to be ran at 1 ohm? So far, Kicker is the only one I have found that makes their amps peak at 2 ohm. But I'd say there is someone else, I'm just not aware of them. i just have to look around i guess. i dont have much room either to work with. from what I am reading the RF amps like 2 0hms.
  6. thats really what I am thinking. Probably just a pos. Ya I do not have too many options. Rockford 1500 cp looks nice. but shit $500!? Do you think the headunit would have anything related?
  7. Ok here is my story: This amp originally had a problem where it started cutting out randomly or "toning down" on intensity. Sometimes a few turning on/off fixed it back up. It finally kept doing this and then sometimes wouldn't work at all. It finally took a crap and fried one day. Sent it back to kicker, they fixed it up and sent it back. The weird thing was the gain was set properly. Had good electrical. Good ground, etc. Subs wired correctly and at the proper ohm level. (trust me im not a total noob haha)Never quite understood it. So i did my new install with my 2 sa-10s..installed the amp and everything ran perfect for the few weeks I have had them. BUT the other day, started my truck and NO bass. Like wtf. Now its doing this less intensity or cutting out not working bullshit. I really do not understand it. Its getting proper voltage. Turn on lead voltage is fine. The amp turns on fine. No protect light. Nothing. Only just gets really hot for HARDLY even playing it. Its almost like it turns on and its hot. Weird. So now I am wondering how reliable this amp is? Is it just a faulty pos? Or could my subwoofer output on my headunit be to blame? My current infinity amp for my mids/highs has been on the same headunit and since day one has worked FLAWLESS. Sure it got hot, but damn worked fine! This kicker amp has been my only issue.. Any suggestions? Idk if this amp is dying again or what...but if it is im getting a new amp that I can fit under my seat. unfortunately that means new wiring and its unfortunate as well that my subs are wired at 2 ohms
  8. you pre ordered and never paid attention? as quoted from the pre order thread... "Expected date for the product is approx 6weeks from today. So...last week of july or so."
  9. probably gonna order a d6500 tomorrow. Am I in need of the intellicharger? Necessary? Any other information I should know about? Thanks
  10. ya i have 2 of the 3 wires done..just not the alt to batt
  11. alright thanks for all the input guys.
  12. so inother words just upgrade the main battery and not to worry?
  13. no charging issues at all? you werent killing the battery? didnt die on you later down the road? ya i was just thinking of upgrading my one main battery in the front and go from there. it would be a d6500 anyway. thats the stock direct replacement for my truck
  14. i mean good to note. I just don't want to be dragged into buying something. I am just lost at what to do.
  15. I am still trying to understand if i do need an alt and upgraded battery for my system or not. Specs: 2001 f150 supercrew 5.4 v8 1800w rms total (kicker 1500.1 amp and infinity for highs) I have talked to multiple people (even michael hughes which lives and has a shop in my town) that say to just do a second battery and my stock alt is fine for the job. BUT everywhere else I read on the internet has told me otherwise that I need to upgrade my alt and front battery. I have killed my battery and fried my amp....but I did have a yellowtop shit battery. SO i assume I am pulling too much current. I read that a second battery only allows more "parking lot time" and doesn't fix voltage issues. Please give me some insight. I have read too much to understand what to do! I want to do it right, but also not spend money on unnecessary equipment. Thanks!
  16. The 0db tracks are used for setting max levels for clipping. But the other tracks are for as follows: (0db can be used for it as well) it all deals with the amount of gain overlap you want to have. Although the higher overlap, the usual more distortion you have as a consequence but gain DB. here is what im trying to say:
