  1. rly? bc I've heard bad things about them. I'm mainly between the mb quart onx1.1000D and the aq750. there is a 60$ difference and idk if I should spend extra and pay for the reliablitie of the AQ since mb quart kinda makes me nervous in the reliability department after getting bought by maxxsonics.
  2. so do you want 300 or 600 wrms? well one sub is 300rms and the other is 600rms but I'm mainly looking for one that makes 500-600rms, since I'm looking more towards the SDC. Yeah, I know what u mean. I mean I'm pretty sure I'm gonna go with the MB quart. Unless I can find a reason not to. Does anyone think its worth the extra $60 to get the AQ750 or the MRX-M50 over the MB Quart Onyx?
  3. well they r first gonna be set by ear but to a level lesser than they prob should be. Then once I can find someone with an O-scope I'll have them tune it.
  4. Thanks guys, I looked around and found mixed reviews on the brutus. Still looks good but I think I'll take the middle ground and get the MB quart. I can't rly see spending the extra 60 on the AQ750 or even the alpine MRX-M50. Can you? I feel the amp should be pretty solid paired with a single SDC2.5, running at 2ohms with the gains turned down, shouldnt be running to hard at all.
  5. yeah, but then again I dont rly need or want more than 500-600rms. I 100% be upgrading in the future so all those big numbers dont rly mean anything to me. The Brutus makes almost double the power of what im looking for. And with stock electrical of a small car, that worries me. Even with the gains turn down. All I'll have done is the Big 3.
  6. yeah I've heard the AQ750 is over priced. Thats what made me consider the Alpine MRX-M50. Same power produced at 4 and 2 ohms but better specs. Same price shipped. But like I said, I'm seeing if I can buy something better. I found the mb quart onx1.1000d for like $150 shipped. Seems great but I know nothing about it. As in, how reliable they are, how clean the power is and important for me, how cool/hot the amp runs. But b/c of the price, I'm leaning towards the MB quart. Anyone have experience with it?
  7. def not audiopipe. I mean hifonics is good IMO but I hear there is better for the money. plus it makes way more power than I need. I also was told mb quart is better quality so I'd go w that first.
  8. yeah I've seem the aq750 and Mrx m50. both good amps, but the reason I made this was to see if I could find anything cheaper. I saw the mb quart onyx1000.d but can you help me thing anything else? I'd rather not run hifonics.
  9. I'm looking to get a NEW amp. I havent decided on the sub yet but I'm considering either an IA 187 or SDC2.5 I'm looking to spend 200 MAX. I want something that is reliable, doesnt get hot makes clean power. Features I want would be a good subsonic filter. I'm looking for something that makes 500-600rms at 2 ohms or 300 rms at 2 ohms. Ideas?
  10. From what I'm told, 1000-1500 usually depending on the car. Apparently the formula is battery voltage X how many camps alternator is. So lets say 13.8 volts X 70amp alt = 966. correct me if I'm wrong. I'm new and dont know much.
  11. I'll power them w an alpine v12 2 channel amp that makes 70rms at 4 ohms. ugh I literally can even narrow it down to two.
  12. r those kicker? I'm mainly just talked about the ones mentioned above.
  13. I'm kinda leaning towards the Phoenix golds. apparently it's a crowd favorite but the kickers as well. only thing that bothers me is that the Phoenix golds were good bc they were so cheap. like 40$. now they are 90-100$. is it still worth it?
  14. I am gonna buy some 5.25 components for the front stage soon and can't pick between these: they all cost between 90-100. Boston S50 Phoenix Gold RSD Kicker KS50.2 which would you get? (I'm on a strict budget and they will be amped)
  15. no not at all, I like audio savings a lot. But from looking last time, they didnt seem to have what I was looking for exactly . they do have monster amp kit but its only like 65$ and for being monster and all, I'm kinda suspicious since thats REALLY cheap. Makes me question the quality. But then again it doesnt even seem to include ground wire. This is all making me lean towards RF.
  16. The wires in the kit already come with rings on them. the non-ringed end goes into the distribution blocks/battery terminals. Edit: Looked a bit closer, those are the distribution blocks I thought were terminals. Then yes, you would need the rings if your amp wont take them. yeah I think if not the RF I'll go with the the stinger kit since it seems to have everything. And the reviews seem legit so I might lean towards that.
  17. well from the reviews I saw the RCAs were apparently kinda cheap. and as for the rings. I was gonna get 8g rings since my alpine amp doesn't seem to fit 8g in the power and ground holes so I'd use the rings to connect them with screws.
  18. /Do you know if stinger is a legit brand that gives true sized wire. Anyone on here use them? It does seem to have EVERYTHING. As for the RF kit, I THINK all I'll need are better RCA's, one of those rubber guards for the firewall and 2 8g ring terminals. So not terrible. Thats like an extra 10 bucks all together.
  19. Anyone? I'm leaning towards the RF kit since it seems to be the most "well know." The stinger kit looks good but idk anything about them and I worry it wont be true 4/8g. Anyone have info on either?
  20. I'm leaning towards a dual amp setup. I'm gonna run 1 older alpine V12 amp that will power front components with 70watts rms @ 4 ohms and a kicker zx300.1 amp that will power a sub with 300watts rms at 2ohms. Since that isnt much power and I'm 100% not going to expand the setup, I decided to go with a 4g power wire that splits into two 8g wires. I've found about 3 amp kits but can't decide which one is right, and some of them dont seem to have everything I need for the install. So this is where I need your help, if you have used or heard anything about either of these kits was it good or bad? and do they include everything I need for the setup? I'm talking down to the ring connectors. Some of them dont have RCA's but it seems the JL amp kit gives only 2 ring terminals and still requires you to buy a fuse? Here they are, let me know what you think: Stinger: http://www.woofersetc.com/p-7669-spk5645r-stinger-4-gauge-complete-dual-amp-kit.aspx RF: http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_9902_Rockford-Fosgate-RFK4D.html JL: http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_24196_JL-Audio-XD-PCS4-2B.html Btw: These are all on ebay in the 85$ range,so thats where I'll be getting it. I also might get some slightly better RCA's from knu konceptz. Just to be clear, for my setup I'll only need to buy 2 RCA cables right? Since its a 2 channel and a mono amp. So far I'm between the RF and Stinger.
  21. Oh sorry, I should of said I decided to use the TC epic. But im kinda leaning towards a sealed box.
  22. Hey guys, I got 2 concerns about this build. 1) What are your thoughts on the headunit? I was gonna get this sony unit since its cheap, has 2 pre amp outs and comes with all the install stuff. I mean I dont plan to run active or anything. And all I want to do is plug in my ipod and listen in terms of features I'm looking for. Can any of you recommend me another HU if you feel this one isnt good. I dont wanna spend more than 100 on a HU. (130 MAX if its a much better HU) Link: http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_30079_Sony-CDX-GT350MP.html 2) I was gonna get knu speaker wire but then I came across this on ebay for cheaper, is this a legit buy? I know monster is good but I want to make sure it's not a knock off brand. I just need enough wire to hook up front components and a sub. 23. I'm in the chicago suburbs and looking for possibly the same thing in the future. Just curious what one of you would charge for installing a 4 channel amp, front components and bridging 2 channels and putting a sub in the rear for something small like a civic. I'd provide everything btw, wires, etc. (just to be clearer, 4 channel amp, 1 channel each for the front components and bridge the last 2 for the sub)
  24. Anyone have comments? I've decided to go with the TC sub. But someone suggested I get a hifonics amp, when bridge it makes 400rms which I could pair with an SSA Dcon. Anyone think that setup would be better?
  25. So I'm between the Skar, a kicker CVR and the TC sounds sub now. Which would you recommend? Only thing that worries me is the TC apparently is a home theater sub? I mean, is that okay? What would the difference be?
