  1. Haven't decided yet, thats the next feat once I get the subs. I'm going to match some amps to it. I'll probably spend as long almost 3 months stright narrowing it down. Feel free to throw in some suggestions. Thanks for the reply! They all help.
  2. Hey guys, a lot of you have been helping me over the past few weeks trying to sort out which subs I'm getting and its been hard living in Australia. I haven't gotten a quote back from DC yet about shipping but here are my options. If possible give me some imput about what would be better. I'm going to have them walled off, ported in a hatch with very low cabin space will have the room to build the box for proper sizing but really want to move some air and put high stress on the car. It's all for fun thats what I bought the car for! Here is the car its going in, this isn't my car it's a factory picture taken from Hyundai just to give you an idea. RE Audio 18" XXX D2 $1055.00 each SHIPPED without the import duty - Would run 2 total. Fi Audio 18" BTL D1 $900ish each SHIPPED - Would run 2 total. Kicker L7 15" D2 $500 each SHIPPED - Would run 4 total. <--- THESE WILL BE THE EASIEST TO GET BY FAR. DC Lvl 5 - TBA Memphis Car Audio CM 15" D2 with 2,500w RMS for $859.00 each with low shipping costs since their in Australia now. So it's between these guys. What do you all think could be the best option? For warranty reasons kicker is going to hook me up and also giving me the L7's cheaper than normal for Australia. Retail is $899.00 each but how good are the L7's compaired to others? I could also get the SOLO X 18" from kicker. Price N/A but avaliable. Hope you guys can help! Going to start the build soon getting excited. Can anyone give me some pros and cons about the L7 if possible? Cheers.
  3. It's ok, I got it sorted. Mechman is going to hook me up with one. ;] thanks heaps guys!
  4. Do they actually have a contact number? I've been trying to get in touch with them via email for almost a month. No replys yet.
  5. Hey Mate, Heard from another member you might be able to get me a high output alternator? I'm seriously in need of one considering the build I'm trying to start. And there is no one in the country who sells them it seems. I get laughed at when I say I need a alternator for car audio. They told me to put 20 yellowtops in my car and run them off a 100a alt... Anyway, I plan on running 2 Fi btl 18" subs on 2 Hifonics 3000 rms amps and that doesn't include the other 4 channel amps I'll be running, and TV's a personal PC built into everything and a PS3. So if you could help me I have the money and have been waiting almost a year to find someone to get me an alternator. Car is; Make: Hyundai Getz Engine: 1.6L 4cl Room: None may have to replace stock for higher. Really hope you can help me! I'll send a lot of business your way if so. I have guys that would give their left nut for a HOA.
  6. It's more about importing it to Australia, I've been trying to get someone to do it for a year almost. You have no idea how much trouble I have been through trying to get one imported to Australia. No one wants to even consider it.. a lot of us aussie guys have the same issue.
  7. Hey guys, simple question. I'm about to start putting together a 10,000W RMS system now.. I'm in Australia and high output alternators are a myth here. Is there any other way I can get around not needing one? Need some serious knowledge here. Thanks heaps guys!
  8. Ok, so found the amps. Probably the best I can actually get with my budget and the location + shipping + importing costs. Hifonics BRZ2400.1D x 4 - Does anyone have anything bad to say about these amps?
  9. Yeah, I'm not fussed about the prices. Like I said I have a total of almost 6,000 AUD. I already have the loudest system in my entire area.... and it isn't much.. I'd like to go for the state etc. Really need some advise on AMPS + Subs that match perfectly and are known to work well together. Will do a massive build log once it comes time, car is going to be ripped apart from ground up and redone professionally for most and by my self for audio / wiring. Hopefully it'll go well.. haha Thanks guys.
  10. So, that sounds good. I can currently make people a few cars in front feel the beat. I'm looking to give a bigger wow factor with design and sound. So would 2 18"'s give me that or would it be easier going smaller 12" maybe 15" not sure? Might end up spending real money and getting some of the SMDs.. EDIT: Does anyone have any experience with the Hifonics amps? I've heard a bit about them but not sure. Did a search didn't get much back.
  11. Yeah I ran the caps before I actually knew I didnt need them. Haha. I use them for my voltage now more than anything. It's funny it's like a " fancy " voltage meter total waste of money didnt make any difference in power. I'll contact some of the guys on here about an alt but most people dislike international shipping. We shall see. Thanks for all the advise.
  12. If it helps any, I'm already running all cadence ZRS amps / subs. Just looking to do a bit more with SPL. Have all of the wiring upgrades, caps, battery etc. If only someone could ship me a high output alternator. Been after one for almost a year now..
  13. I'm going to have another 2 - 3k for the rest of the car. Just looking to spend 2000 on the subs + amps. Will spend some more on other upgrades. Have around 6,000 total. Have all my splits, smaller amps etc. Looking to be able to do some serious hurt to my windows.
  14. Aw, come on don't be shy to the aussie! So many brilliant minds on here and not one with a suggestion?
  15. Hi guys, Just a question to some people who know a bit about shopping around. I currently live in Australia and will be importing from the USA. Was wondering I have a budget of 2000.00 USD for Amp + Subs. Putting them in a hatchback. Looking for some serious power but we are limited on what information we get on the good / bad amps / subs here. Any suggestions on what would be suitable for me? Was looking at a Hifonics BRZ2100.1D or Hifonics BRZ2400.1D and need some subs that would run with those. 4 could be good unless you think 4 is overkill for 12" subs? I'm the only one in the entire area doing this so want it to be one of a kind. Thanks in Advanced! Hope you guys can help me out a bit.
  16. I live in Hobart, and you? Also at the moment it's all nice SQL very loud but not quite what I want.. I'd rather play around a bit more with SPL. Since my hearing is bad anyway. I want it louder than the average person can take.
  17. Don't know if I did this right, someone please input is possible. Enclosure 35" H 35" W 30" D Total Volume 17.57cf Port Length 5" H 13" W Just seems like to much space.. maybe I'm wrong. I've never tried a ported box. I'm just using calculators that I've found links to on here. Do I need 17cubic feet for 4 12" subs or less? Is my port area to small? Trying to get everything built over the weekend as it's the only time I have. Please help someone! If you need any more values for drivers let me know. Thanks in advanced.
  18. I'd like to make it a sealed wall (No back seats just lots of room to work with!) with the possibility of upgrading to VERY high powered subs something along the lines of 1000 - 2000rms each x 4. Here's what I have to work with exactly. If possible I'd love to make it have a little extra room on the sides. Depth is what I'm scared about. 48" Wide 20" Deep based on the layout of the car though 20" max unless the box is not as wide then I can go back as far as I want. 36" Height I really appreciate you doing this! I got quoted 3000 dollars for a custom box and install by a local audio shop (didnt want the install or box was just wondering how much I'd be looking at to save time and the box wasn't a full wall) I told them to stick it up their ass, MDF and fiberglass doesn't cost 3000 they're charging way to much for their labor. It's insane. If it helps I really want to be loud. I've done the SQ route and it's nice but I always loved sitting behind other cars and making everyone in the car turn around and give that " WTF ? " look. Since I'm the only guy in my city doing it. Thought I should go as loud as possible. No DB limits here thank god. Also whats better, building a wall? or laying the subs down facing up like I've seen done a lot.
  19. Max for height is 36 inches max for width is 47 inches no depth limit really. Probably have around 20 inches depth to play with. Also yeah I would love to look outside other brands. It's just a matter of getting them into Tasmania. Australian customs are pains in the asses. They didn't even let my old school PS1 come through last year. And it's a Hyundai Getz. Here's the car, and after me ripping the guts out to recover / repaint all the insides. To give you an idea of the size I have to play with.
  20. Yeah mate didn't think so, also as I'm living in Australia the stock is limited in my area (I'm really the only person in my entire area doing anything audio related) so until I get my Dad in the states to get some real woofers I'm using some Pioneer TS-W308D4's. You'll laugh probably but the Rocksford Powers here are over 1100 each. Was going to get some JLW7's but decided not to.. they're just as over priced in this country. I'm pretty disappointed in the stock in Tasmania. It's impossible to import as well. I paid nearly 240 dollars each for them. Way over prices if you compare them to others. Anyway that's beside the point. I've mastered the sealed box. Built about 7 now 3 being fully fiberglassed. Trying my hand at ported. Thanks again.
  21. Hi guys, I pretty much spend most of my day on these forums at work. For once I thought I'd ask a question. Since I'm in need and know there is a lot of extremely good knowledge here. Now please forgive me if I've posted in the wrong area. And don't flame me for not " searching " good enough. I need answers in relation to my self not others. I'm currently running 4 12" 450RMS subs (all in separate enclosures but made into one SEALED box) and 4 450RMS amps one for each. Now, it's loud don't get me wrong but I want more of a " wow-factor " and I know vented boxes will achieve this easily. The problem is, I'm stuck because I have no clue what the box size should be, how big the port area should be. My sub are recommended to be using 1.65cu.ft(47.7 liters) and recommended port size 3"Dia x5.5" but I want to make it into one big box. So do I just times everything by 4? It doesn't seem that easy. Also I'm not sure what to tune it at. I'm really lost, I'm good at wiring and building just the math included has my brain going sideways. Please someone help me here. I really want to do this right. That's why I'm asking for help and not trying to get in above my head and so some dumb shit and burn out my system. Thanks in advanced!
