Maybe you have a bad exciter wire? There is a trick to installing a stand-alone one, but I'm not even sure how the wiring harness is on your vehicle.
Exciter wire? Please elaborate.

Could be your starter.
Car starts no problem. The batery just won't charge.
-
What would the reading be for fully charged?
A healthy battery should rest around 12.6v.
Both batteries are resting around 12.6v.
I am about to test the new alt to see what it's putting out.

Besides the alternator being fried what would cause the charging system to fail?
I changed the alternator and put in a new battery and yet when ever I start the car the batteries (the old one and new one) both drop into the 11 range.

I found out somthing odd while removing the alt from my parts car. The ground from the alt runs to thengine block and to the strut tower. Then from the strut tower to the battery. I still need to find where the positive goes. This is one messed up car.

So I pulled the alt. out completely and this is what the ground looked like.
I think the alt. is finito... hope fully the one off my parts car is still good.

I tested my alt.and it's putting out power. The thing that is confusing me is that the positive has two wires comming from it.
What is the reading coming from the post on the alternator?
Damn I can't exactly remember I think it was around 12... I'll go double check, when my Gf gets up.

Damn smart idea!

It's possible that the fusible link may have blown, if you can put the positive from the meter on the output post of the alt to make sure it is or it isn't putting out power that will tell you everything you need to know.
Oh cool! Thanks I will do that as soon as I get back from paint-balling.

Here are my readings...

This is what my meter looks like.
Is that where I'm Supposed to have it or do I put it on the other side?

Grab a DMM or a clamp meter and test it.
I was going to get it tested to make sure it was the alternater. I'm also going to go over all the wires to see if there are any lose or dammeged ones.
This may be a dumb question but I've never used one before. What setting do I put the DDm to?

Guess that means I need to get the h.o. one I've been wanting.

So, I think my alternator quit on me. I was driving and my head unit was bugging out. It would not play sound and the would shut off. I thought it was a loose wire. But later on, all my electrical was bugging out. Then about 2 minutes later the car died. I tried to restart it but nothing. Luckily it died near a parking lot. I pushed it in and a guy was nice enough to boost me. After the boost the car started no problem, then 5 min later (30 seconds from home) the car died again.
Form all the happend I'm assuming it's the alternaor not charging.

Funny enough I checked and they don't have any.

I'm looking for a rubber roller to install sound deadener. Unfortunately, I am unable to get it locally.
Shipped to:
North Bay, Ontario

Let mm know what you have.
P.S. I've already checked ebay, Audiosavings and Sonicelectronix. I want to see if I can get one cheaper then $22 shipped.

You would think the president would have better drivers. lol.

It's for a random person online.

They didn't really like the one port on one side. Don't ask me why. So, I drew up a centred port version.

I figured out the problem! I hooked one of the wires up wrong. heheh
