no not bridged and gain is only about half

Hey im new to car audio and this is the first time i have run into this. So i have a basic system in my 2000 Jetta its a 1000 watt kenwood 2 channel amp running a 12 diamond m6 , running at 2ohm. The amp gets extremely hot and fast and will go in to a protect mode, and wont do anything for easily 12 hours regardless if i disconnect all power. I was thinking its a bad ground but I'm unsure, any input and advice is appreciated. Thanks in advance.
