  1. That's more of what I'm going to be aiming for. A sealed, or maybe aero'd ported box under the rear seats. 2 12's or 2 10's, whatever I can fit. I want it to be a stealthy box, and I want to do it right. Whatever type of truck I get, be it a Silverado/Sierra, or a Tahoe/Yukon I'm going for clean...and nothing else. Preferably a Silverado EXT Cab or a 4 door. Either way, it's going to go under the rear seats.

  2. I've currently got a 2002 Impala LS 3.8 with 2 12's in a 3 cube box sealed off from the trunk. Get's pretty loud and nasty for what it is, off of 800 watts.

I recently found out we may be getting rid of my car to get me into a 2003-2006 Chevy Silverado Z71, either an Ext. Cab or 4 door.

What I'm curious is, what would I be able to do when it comes to gettin a little bump going on in my truck? I know I'm working with very limited space and I do not want to get rid of any seats. So, what I'm going to be looking at is something under the rear seats, or behind the rear seats. I'm thinking either 2 12s or 2 10s under the rear seats, and then the mids/highs amp and sub amp on the back wall behind the seats, for a clean simple install.

What do y'all think I should go with? I know it will be nothing like I have in my Impala now but I understand that and am willing to accept that.

  3. I've had this installed for about 3 weeks now and love it. I bought it off Amazon.com for $510, and bought the parking brake bypass from there as well. It was $20, and was really simple to install. Get the 201S cable to go with it. Great headunit.

Good to hear! How's the quality of the 201S cable? I read online that it's a very stiff cable. How's the length on it as well? Is that cable necessary for the App features?

  4. You should post how you like it once you get it. I have had my eye on that one for a couple weeks now. I like the layout kind of like the app headunit but much nicer. I was also glad to see they used 4v pre outs.

I was dead set on the AppRadio 2, until I saw this. A little more expensive, but the 4v preouts are so much nicer than the two 2v the Appradio 2 had. This has much more features like the DVD player & the list goes on. I definitely will post a video or two when I do get it, I think I should be pretty darn happy with it...coming from a Kenwood single din.

  5. Gonna be getting this headunit in a little over a month after graduation rolls around. I usually like to mess with the headunit before I buy it, but Bestbuy doesn't have it out on the floor yet, and it seems like I'm going to order it blindy (not being able to use it beforehand). I don't think I'll be disappointed, but I wanted to get some peoples opinions on it before I pull the trigger in 3-4 weeks.

Seems like a great headunit that has tons of features I won't even know what to do with all of them.

    Anyone use it yet?

    Thanks

  6. It actually does seem to be able to control pandora via the Pandora app on the iPhone.. Doesn't seem to be able to turn into a Navi using the Apps though... :/ That's what I was looking forward to in the AppRadio 2. I'm looking up reviews on youtube of the 8400bh right now. Seems very nice

    EDIT:

This video just answered that for me! It will be able to turn into a Navi using the compatible iPhone app! I know what head unit i'm getting now! I knew I should have came to SMD before I just went ahead and got the AppRadio 2 :D

  7. Hey y'all, graduation is coming up soon, and I'm going to have some cash from that. I'm looking into upgrading my headunit. I currently have a Kenwood BT945U in perfect condition. I've never had an issue with it, and I absolutely love it. It's got tons of features, some that I don't even use.

I've got the opening for a double-din, and I want to utilize it. I have the little pocket under the radio now, and it's the most wasted space. I'll throw my iPhone in there if my cup holders are full, but it usually ends up falling out when I pull out into traffic or something.

I've been seriously considering the Pioneer AppRadio 2. I heard about how everyone hated the Appradio 1, but they seem to have redeemed themselves with the 2. It doesn't have the best pre-outs, 2 @ 2v, but I only have my sub amp, and my amp for my front speakers. My rear speakers are run off the deck so that wouldn't be a problem. I played with it a lot in my local BestBuy and the interface seems flawless and I already have the App on my iPhone that when you open it up, will turn the radio into a full Navigation GPS...very nice. It also includes an external GPS antenna to mount on the outside of the car. I love the Pandora integration, and the overall feel of the headunit is great. It's got a sleek simple look to it, not many physical buttons.

I'm trying to get an idea of what I should do. I'll have the money in about a month. The AppRadio 2 is priced at $499, $449 online (which is where I'll probably get it). Plus I'll be able to sell my Kenwood and recoup some of the money.

Have any of y'all heard good/bad things about this unit?

    Thanks in advance!

  8. Get rid of that cap for one..doing nothing but added stress to your charging system, and isn't helping with your voltage issue. What kind of car is this in? What is the factory alternator's amp rating? My guess is that your alternator can't keep up with the added battery and you're depleting the reserve on the batteries and then your voltage is dropping off a cliff. Might be time to invest in a H/O alternator. I did, and haven't been happier.

  9. I've had no issues with my DC Power 190A "OEM" Alternator I purchased about a year ago. Took like 2 weeks to receive it in the mail, but it was well worth it. Paired with a good new battery, charging is always at 14.8V and I never, ever have a concern with the alternator going out. Great support and a great quality alternator. Just thought I'd throw my experience out there.

  10. Let's start with the basics...have you done the big 3 yet? How old is the battery under your hood? If you haven't done the Big 3 yet, I would seriously recommend it. I did it on all my family vehicles just because..they don't necessarily have high powered car audio, but it improves the charging system, even stock. My dad's 98 Subaru Outback with just a 0 gauge run from battery negative to the strut tower, and the battery positive to the alternator, his charging voltage jumped .4v over factory wiring.
