  1. If the subs are meant to be in a sealed box and not ported i would just go with that. It probably won't make much of a difference going with a ported box and just add to the frustration. I would make a nice sealed box (or modify the existing one to be sealed), sell them along with the box and get different subs. The kind that love ported boxes tuned at or below 35 hz.
  2. level 3's are 3" coil, level 2's are 2.5" coil...pretty sure that aint gonna work. Good point, didn't know that. Maybe DC can hook me up with some lvl 2 recones with dual spiders.
  3. I can't be sure of anything. Who lied if anyone lied, doesn't matter at this point. Maybe no one lied. I'm not really that upset about it, just think it's messed up.
  4. They guy that sold them to me thought they were lvl 3 because that's what he was told. Well i didn't know what lvl 3 looked like so i looked up some pics recently. Found a couple of lvl 2 10's that looked just like mine. Found some pics of the lvl 3 and it looks nothing like mine. That's what i get for not doing this before actually buying them I'm gonna call up DC and see if i can get some recones with lvl 3 softparts. It's still going to be a lvl 2 but since i know they can handle 600-700 w rms thermally might as well do that.
  5. Well well well turns out someone built them and said they were level 3's. I wonder who that someone was... I don't even care anymore but i wish people would be honest about their business. This person claims they were built by a certain someone and they were given away in a raffle to his friend. Guess who supposedly built these? Can you guess? Well whoever it was you brought shame to DC soundlabs and i hope it was worth it. These guys are out there putting out the DC audio brand name and people like you are fucking it up for them and people like me. Wonder if it was someone on here that built these claiming they were something they are clearly not. Someone that supposedly tried to help me out but in reality did nothing at all. Funny how some things turn out...
  6. Ok so it turns out i was wrong about them being lelvel 3. It turns out they are indeed level 2 and i've been simply overpowering them with double the RMS rating. The coils took it like a champ but the surround and spider couldn't handle it. The upside is i did a 140.2 @ the headrest with them. 1 door open and engine off. I'm not worried karma is gonna come back around and get the guy that sold them to me stating they were level 3. Lesson learned. DC audio FTW me FTL
  7. Awesome man, i watch your youtube vids and i know ur big into DC subs. Never did a recone but i want to learn. I like doing my own work. Gonna pm you my # so you can hook me up.
  8. I looked under the gasket and it was black, so i guess they were not reconed before. I used some goop so i guess i'll see how that goes for a while. Is there a way you can have the recones built and ship them to me? I would send the subs out to you but the shipping is gonna be a lot. And i guess it would also depend on how much you'd charge to recone them.
  9. I was actually gonna make the next box bigger, like 3ish cubes. 2.4 cubes is not very big IMO. The angle that the pics were taken is making it look weird. Magnets are triple stacked and each sub weighs 20 lbs. I guess i'll just say it's my fault for pushing them too hard? Either way i did not expect them to fail this way. I figured if anything the coils would go bad. Shoulda known something was off when one of the subs started bottoming out while the other held up better. Now i'm affraid to push them cause id rather have a bit less bass than none at all untill the new subs come in and i make the box for them. Also the alignment on the sub that bottoms out was off so maybe these were just recones and not brand new. I don't know, no way to tell for sure.
  10. Box is 2.4 ft3 after disp, shared airspace and tuned to 33hz. Subs are the same distance from the two 3" aero ports. Subs reach the most excursion on higher notes, rather than below tuning notes. I do like to play my music loud and for extended periods at times. Setup can reach 140 db tested MECA style AS3 class. I thought these subs could handle 600-700w rms
  11. Here are some pics of the one that actually ripped. The other one looks the same, crappy glue job minus the tore surround. I know i should have got better glue but u know how it goes. Just wanted to do a quick fix. Considering one sub bottoms out i suppose the best thing would be to recone both.
  12. Ok so I bought the pair less than 5 months ago from someone on CACO. Subs were brand new according to seller. The looked and smelled brand new when i got them. Had them powered by an Audioque 1200 amp. Not very long after they were broken in, found out one of the subs was bottoming out fairly easy. The other one did not have the same issue. Recently the surround from the one that bottomed out ripped where the cone meets the surround. After closer inspection i noticed both of the subs were cracked all aroun where the surround meets the cone. I used some epoxy glue as a temporary fix, but i'm more than sure that won't hold for long at all. Not saying this is DC audio's fault or anything like that. Just wondering what would be the best thing to do. Do i just get a couple of recones and fix them? If i do then will i have the same problem down the road? Should i just send them to David at PSI and have them custom rebuilt? Is there a way to have the surrounds replaced with ones that won't crack or tear? Basically what do i do now? I just ordered a couple of Shhhhdown SA 10's because i really don't know what i should do about this. DC audio is still FTW. Just not in my case lol
  13. Sweet, this is more than i can ask for. Thanks a bunch dude!!
  14. Ok so i was wondering if anyone knows where i can get the slowed version or if anyone happens to have it. I just found out the name of the artist and track. Can't seem to find a slowed version.
