  1. 1/0 is your power wire going from your front battery to your amp... the AQ inputs are 1/0 inputs

yes, i believe you SHOULD get another battery in the back wired up with the one up front

a capacitor is nothing like a alternator, a alternator makes power, a capacitor stores it and discharges it when bass hits, similar to a battery but no where near as effective..

I would buy a battery with subs, i recommend Kinetik batterys, Audiosavings.com have really good deals on them

I also recommend doing the BIG 3 up front under your hood

    http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/13280-how-to-do-the-big-3-tutorial/

big 3 tutorial at that link

yes, If i had the choice between your buddys equipment or the equipment you are thinking of running, I would run the FI and AQ over his shit any day...

Well, lets go then! Haha. So let me get this straight. Okay, this is what I will need for my system:

-2 Fi Fully stocked BL 15's

    -1 AQ2200 Amp

-1(??) Kinetik, (or any sort of battery) wired to my subs

-1 Amazing Box (I think I want to learn how to make my own box, so in the future, help out my friends, so if you know a tutorial video, or any of that, please feel free to list them)

-Will I need a wiring kit? Probably, so can you list some good ones, that aren't to pricey, but can get the job done.

-Will I need a on / off switch for the subs? Someone on youtube said I did.. But I doubt its necessary.

    -A Pioneer headunit

*And yeah, that's pretty much all I can think of at the moment, but here's a question. Do you think I will need to like uhh.. Foil up my car? Like, what people do with 18's. Like they put this foil around there trunk and roof and stuff, and, yeah. Haha it reduces the rattling? Idk. Haha well, tell me if this is all I need, cause if so, well, I'm off to go!

  2. you NEVER ever go by MAX ratings, which soundstream tends to use... 12.5 is low voltage, thats bad in car audio...

you will want atleast 1/0 gauge wiring if you get the BLs and the AQ

AQ actually does put out power it claims

DONT ever use a capacitor, they are worthless get a battery instead

your buddy probably has Pyle 15s or similar, garbage subwoofers no lie...

if you can get some one to design a box, specific for your car on here, you shouldnt have ANY problem being louder than him

Where have you been all my life? Haha Jk, but yeah. Wait so I should go with the BL's and the AQ. And I need to buy a battery? Like, honestly, all I know is subwoofers and Amp names. Thats about it. And the sound that they make. But, otherwise, I am as lost as hell. Whats a capacitor? Is that an alternator? And I should buy a battery WITH subs + amp? And when you mean the 1/0 gauge wiring, what do you mean? Man if you guys have a post that I can read up on, I would appreciate it A LOT. Cause I feel like I flunked Audio school 16 years in a row.

  3. 2 15s and a 2500w MAX amp for 700, yeah i can see that being 700~

FI/DC/AA stand out because they make really good quality shit, that gets STUPID loud... and every sub is customizable to your liking, you cant do that with any other subwoofers

good quality stuff cost $... stay here, read, learn that kicker/hifonics and all that shit are honestly not that great as they are made out to be from the stores in your area...

    edit

stay away from the overpriced JL as well bro

and what equipment does your buddy have, we can tell you if its worth getting the AQ and BLs over that

Well, I cant tell you what equitment he has, but if you show me a pic of a sub, I can name it off like that. I'm pretty sure its like, a no name. Like the sub itself, you know how Fi is like flat then it has the cap? Well his sub is kinda square-ish with lines on it that go from the cap to the outside. And its white / red. Idk what it is though. And I think the amp is soundstream? Not sure. But it hits 12.5's, if thats good. Haha. And well, my plan is to buy these 2 15 Bl's and run it on an AQ2200 with no alternator, and yeah. I was originally going to run the 15's on a Soundstream TX12600D, but someone said the AQ2200 is a better bang for the buck, which I don't get cause the soundstream has more power, but idk. I'm going to listen to the people on this forum. Haha

  4. I thought Fi's were cheap :peepwall: But in the bigger picture, there are soooo many more factors that play in when it comes to sound quality and loudness. Everything from the amps, enclosure and even car. Unless he has a bad box, or overrated equipment, it's gunna be hard to get louder than him on the same cone area and less power.

Yeah true. I was going to uhh run the 15's on a Soundstream 2.6k watt, but then, someone said AQ2200 was better for the price, so.. I guess i'm going to go with that

  5. Hey there guys!

So I posted a few posts already about my soon to be system which is going to be 2 Fi Bl 15's running on an AQ2200 amp. But I also noticed the prices are .... expensive for a 16 year old. Haha. So I was wondering, what makes Fi's stand out ? Like, my friend has 2 15's running on 2.6k watts and he got his system for 700$? How will Fi's stand out better than his subs since I'm paying 1,000$. Like, if it's going to be the same, can't I buy the same of his and pay less? Like, I am confused. Because Fi's are really expensive. So... I'm confused.

  6. Eclipse CD3200 over here and I love it (except for the backgrounds; I need to make my own), but good time finding one. lol

Seriously, go to a shop or even best buy and play around with the decks and get a feel for how they work and pick the one you like best. Alpine and Kenwood are both good brands as well.

EDIT: If you find a deck you like while looking, don't buy it. Copy down the model number and look it up online. Look at reviews, ask questions, etc. etc. Look at online prices. SonicElectronix is a good site. Crutchfield is as well, but they are normally more expensive than other places.

If you want to find out your door speaker sizes, Crutchfield is a great site for that as well.

Well you replied to the other guy, but I read it anyways and I'm going to reply anyways. Haha. I was looking at an Alpine... WAY TO EXPENSIVE compared to Pioneer. And do you know of any good pop-out touchscreen headunits for 500-700$ and under? If so, please leave the name & site. Thanks.

  7. Ok first off you can get the fi subs from there site here is the link. Fi Car Audio

Then I would recommend a little bit better amp for the price. An AQ 2200 should do the trick. Here is the link. AQ 2200

And then for a head unit here is what I would recommend. Pioneer DEH-P6200BT

And then if you don't have any components yet I would recommend these. Rainbow 5.25 Components.

And I can build you a box for 2 15's for about $75!! which is a hell of a price but it will be like $100 to ship send me a PM with the dimensions of your trunk and what kind of music you listen to and I will build you a box. I also have pics of previous builds.

Wow, aren't you just the kind guy. Haha, thank you so much. I have one question though about the amp. So you said instead of purchasing the soundstream, I should go with the AQ2200. Isn't the soundstream 2.6k watts and the AQ2200 2.2k watts? So shouldn't I want more power for cheaper? Or... Am I just an Idiot. Haha. And thank you for the other info, I will make sure to look into that.

  8. It's actually really easy to do that man. Download torres calc from enclousure section, or pm someone on here that'll design a simple box for free for you. Really a box only needs 7-8 pieces to be successful. We just need the max dimensions.

I mean, I could try... Haha, but then I also needa go get wires and all that stuff too. And I'm also probably going to get a headunit. Any suggestions? Pioneer? Alpine? Cheap ? Like a simple one for 200$ under..

  9. honda accord is my first car too :D but honestly, how are you ever going to learn if you never even start? Hell my first box was pretty damn good i think. You can run to home depot and buy a sheet of mdf for 30$, and if you have a table saw, you're set. And if not, im sure a neighbor does? hell maybe home depot will make your cuts for you if you're nice to em :P Just dont rely on the local shop. They feed you a bunch of nonsense bullshit to make yo buy their stuff, that in reality sucks dick. :)

Well, my dad wants me to make a box, but I thought there is a certain way Im suppoes to make it. Like tuned to 33hz or whatever that means, I don't know what that means. Like, if all I need to do is just make it so the sub fits correctly, then hell, ill do it. But then again, I don't know how big to make the airhole, or any of that

  10. Chances are, unless you want some good quality equipment, stay away from your local shops. Youre gonna find hella better deals online and from other members.

So, Im 16. And this honda accord is going to be my 1st car, and since its my 1st car, these Fi's are going to be my 1st system. I shouldn't go to my local store and ask them to make me a box? I know some SMD members could make me one, but I have no paypal / credit card... So, Idk how that's going to work out. Lol

  11. No. You can't go to best buy or w/e and buy a Fi. It's either from the site, or from another member. and we really can't tell you whether or not your electrical can handle it or not. More than likely you'll have big drops running 2 fl fi's. But I know on the 2002+ hondas the alternators a bitch to get to lol.

Haha I meant like stereo stores. Haha not no best buy or radio shack. Hahaha. But yeah, and my luck. Well, I probably wont get the alternator then :) Haha. Thanks :D

  12. Hey there!

I have a few questions. I am going to purchase Fi 15's soon, and I was wondering, do they only sell it on their website? Or can I go to my local audio shop and purchase them there (new). And I posted a post early but I kind of didn't really get an answer back. So I am purchasing 2 Fi 15' BL's fully stocked running on a Soundstream TX12600D amplifier amp. My friend has uhh 2 15's, running the same amount of wattage (2.6k) and he doesn't have an alternator and it slaps and it sounds just fine. People have told me I need an alternator but I really don't want to buy one, so I am probably going to keep the stock. Will the subs and amp be fine? Because his is just fine, and yeah. And if this helps, I'm going to probably be driving an 04-05 Honda Accord Sedan. And 2 15's in the back, and yeah.. Haha so if you can answer both questions about the Fi Subs and the alternator, that will be much appreciated. Thank you.

  13. that amp is rated for 2kw at 1 ohm, 250amp fuse so it sounds legit. 2600 at .5 though but i dont recommend that.

you should be ok but just watch the voltage. im running a 1600rms amplifier and a 200rms amplifier and i drop down to the low 12's (70 amp alt stock) easily but im OCD about voltage so yesterday i ordered a 165 amp alt. should be here soon.

Okay wait what? Haha, honestly, all I understood in that was it sounds legit which is a good thing. But what do you mean "2600 at .5 though but I dont recommend that". Does that mean, I get those 2 Fi BL's running that same amp or get a different amp? haha, sorry and thank you :)

  14. Well, I am 15 years old, about to get my first car. And I know you guys are probably thinking, "Typical Teenager that doesn't know what hes doing". Haha well, its true. But I love bass and music, and getting 1,000$ for the subs + amp is already hard enough, so I really have no desire to try and get another 300$ to get an alternator. So, money is an issue, and just having it installed and all that is just, difficult for me. If I have those 2 Fi bl's in a Honda Accord, running on THAT amp, will it last ? I mean, sure everybody has a risk of the sub blowing, or the amp overheating and dying, but I mean, will it last with a stock alternator?

  15. Hey there,

So I've asked a few questions about some alternators, subs, amps, etc. but I am still a little bit confused. I have read on this forum for a good time now, but I still have some questions. I am going to get 2 Fi BL's fully stocked running on a Soundstream TX12600D amp. People told me I need an alternator.. Which I totally do not want to buy. Like, I really do not want to purchase one and install it. Is there ANY, and when I say ANY, I mean ANY other way I could use this set-up without purchasing an alternator. Like extra batteries? My friend has 2 15's running 2.6k watts, and he has had them for a year and a half now, no alternator, no batteries, just subs and amp, and it slaps and is still running fine. Can I do that with these subs and amp? I know there are some risks, but whats the WORST outcome of not having an alternator and batteries? Thank you.
