  1. If you can't afford the electrical why not get a less powerful amp? Or do you have it already?

Haven't ordered yet. But why not just go with the 2200D for future moments? Its only an extra 100$. + I can set the gains to only push out like 1200.. Then eventually buy the electrical. You know? Or am I just typing words that make no sense what so ever. Sure I can buy an AQ1200D, but I know a 2200D will satisfy me more in the long run. You know?

Yea. Read that yourself... And then thats the answer to this thread

    /End

I read it.. And the answer to my thread is still not answered. Haha, what batteries are the best? LOL. I don't see one battery named in my comment.

What your saying is why not spend more to get something good... Clear enough?

Clear. You said that it answers my thread question though. Why are we even talking about this? Sorry for the misunderstanding. Thanks for the help.

  2. Smiley is old news, Meade doesn't care.

As foor batteries, get the biggest XS Power batt you can fit under the hood and one or two XS Power 3100's for the back. But if you do that, your looking at ABOUT the same price as a good mechman alt. So....

he doesn't need 2 d3100's in the back AND a big xs battery up front. MAYBE a d1200 in the back and d1200 or d3400 up front.

Haha. I almost had a heart attack when I read 2 batteries in back and 1 BIG one in front. Its only 2200 watts guys.. Not Steve status here :/

  5. Yeah, good batteries are expensive new.

A Alternator would be cheaper IMO, than buying two new batteries.

I called, and for a 240 alt, it's 549$.. thats alot of money. It would take me at least half a year to get that. And I really dont wanna set my gains halfway to only push out 1100 watts for half a year, maybe even longer. If I get batteries, I can prob buy one in like .. 2 months, then set the gains to push out like 1.5, then buy another one then go full. You know?

  6. I need batteries for my Civic so my car doesn't explode in smoke on the freeway  . I'm pretty sure my stock alt for the Civic is less then 100, guessing its around 70-eighty. I'm running an AQ2200D in it, and I can't afford a HO alt because its SO EXPENSSSSIVE! Well, to me at least. So I was going to put a battery up front, and one in the back, big 3, etc. I was leaning towards a XS S1200 up front and a XS D2400 in the back. I'm HOPING that this will keep me up in the 13's.. Note: I am going to be using this system a lot. Eventually, when I get the money, I'll buy a HO alt, but as of right now, I need batteries. Batteries around 200$ and below would be great. THANKS!

Is it just me or whenever I type in 80 (eighty), it turns into like a smiley face. Haha

  7. I'd like to have 2 18's one day but i don't money for that yet. i've got basketball and school so no time for a job. and ryan sorry but i dont understand your shooting myself in the head with $300 dollars haha.

Woww! I totally wrote . "Find another 85$" haha. Im like you, I'm 16 (I don't know your age, but yeah), and I have school and basketball. :) Gotta love basketball. But if you want 12's and you have a budget, 2 SA-12's are great. But that's if your willing to save up 380$.

  8. yes and no. if your port doesnt have enough area its like breathing through a straw and can make noise, but if theres too much area, its like breathin with your mouth wide open and doesnt build any pressure inside the box. thats where the 13-16sq.in. per cube comes in. but port length - like how far the port goes into the box - is what will most directly change your tuning. go here and play with some numbers http://www.the12volt.com/caraudio/boxcalcs.asp#porsq

I played with the site a little. It was a little confusing at first, but I got the hang of it. I'll forsure be using this when I build my box.

  9. I generally go a little large on cubic feet, my 15 is in 6ft^3. as for tuning, usually you want something like 13-16 square inches of port per cubic foot of box volume, so my box port is 9x9=81sq. in. and 14in.x6= 84sq. in. so im pretty much right on. this lets it breathe correctly, but tuning is basically port length. the lower you want your box to sound, the longer the port. there are some great calculators on www.the12volt.com i highly reccomend and i use them all the time.

The port is how the subs breathe, correct? Just making sure if I'm on the same page or not. And if it is, that means the bigger it is (length or width), the lower the tune is?
