playing lows won't be the issue here, its the box and port that will make the difference in sound.. , i'm just trying to help you choose an amp and see what you were planning for future upgrades that's all so i could help you save a little bit of money over the period of time
-
what i dont understand about planning on future builds... is it about building on your current build? cuz if not it really doesnt make sense to plan a build that is gonna make you change everything you currently have. lol
what i mean by future builds.. if you plan on adding a 2nd sub. or adding 4 more subs.. whatever that case may be or upgrading your dc lvl 3 to lets say a dc lvl 5.. ok so you would end up going from 600 watts to max 4000 per sub.. big changes mean more money spent. if you're on a budget get something you don't want to regret doing later. IE buy aq750 then have to buy another one for a 2nd sub when you could already have a aq1200 for the price of a brand new aq750. i think 200 is a fair price...for the aq1200

no, thank you Speedball. anything helps im new to car audio but im really interested. ha... so im just trying to learn as much as i can... this might not be right, but i thought that if the DC is in a bigger box with the right port, it'll play more lows, and vise versa, if its in a smaller box, with the right port, it'll play more highs? is that generally right or am i way off on that? :/
generally that is what most noobs think. and sometimes it is the case, but not for everyone. smaller boxes require more power than a bigger box, but the bigger box will be more effecient and play lower notes because of it's ability to use a bigger port. It just depends on what kind of music you listen to and what your goal is

but by then he'll spent more money than what he could get for a aq1200, he can always trade up the d2 for a d4...ever think about that?? he's on a budget, so he should decide what he plans on for future builds...
brand new aq750 199
brand new aq1200 269...
so aq750 now is 199 plus another sub(dc sub) plus another aq750 for another 200... hmmm lets do the math... lol just saying..
-
no your trunk is perfectly fine and if you build the box just right you will have plenty for 2 12's and with the aq1200, it will do just what you want it to do... a sub box for 2 12s is about 2.5 to 3.0 cu ft total the jl's i know require smaller boxes they're designed to get loud in small enclosures..but not in big.. DC on the other hand can get loud in both small and large. just though i would throw my 2 cents in...
-
it has nothing to do with the market... it has everything to do with the damn CEO, they're just being dicks at this point...
-
well if you got the d2, then yea you're gonna want to get the aq750 or go with the rf1000, couldn't go wrong there...
-
aq1200 is plenty with plenty room for a 2nd sub if he chooses, so he won't have to buy a 2nd amp, just saying...
-
AQ1200 i know a friend that is selling one for 200 right now
-
i lived down the street from them for years... i used to work there when it was compaq, and saw the changes they made, now its a college campus for lonestar college... and there's still many empty buildings there... but HP still owns most of the property... they're just leasing it to Lonestar until the buildings are fully occupied by them. Sucks to see them shutdown a part of history down, I even own a HP computer myself.
-
get 4 of them, that will give you plenty power to juice your amps for your highs
-
hope he has this product patented
-
you need to get an alternator that can charge your d1400 at the correct rate, otherwise your battery is only charging at about 2 volts lower than it should... i needs to be around 15 to 16.5 volts but it also you need to check specs on the amp if it can handle 15 to 16 volts there are alot of scenarios.. the d1400 is a 14 v battery, you should have gone with the d1200
-
holy shit after taxes thats about 3k for some sloppy subs.. lmao
-
lol mine has a remote start and stays on even when i press the brake or insert the key, but the car doesn't go into gear unless the key is turned
-
i know specially since u cant see me!, but yea looking for basic features cd player, kinda really we usually use iphones and ipods, so something that plays ipod at least better if plays iphone and charges it but for price will settle, as for subs i dont think anything bigger than shallow mount will fit very limited room in ram 1500s under seats. i will consider subs for wifeys car let me know what you got
i do have an alpine single din dvd touch screen and its used.. wouldn't know if that would be his brand he wants..?
-
you said you were going with a whole new setup?? what head unit you plan on going with??
pm me when you get chance
-
i believe the alt was around 5 to 6 bills last time i checked but i ended up getting one from DC direct fit but it was a 320 hp is all they had...
-
vr3's?? lmao i remember running their amps back in the old days.. god i was stupid for running them..
-
maybe he meant 31 to 35hz?? hell 51 to 65 is way out of tune.. he'd be burping tweety bird out of that box
-
x3 stay away from boss, they cheap yea but they don't bump at 1000 watts, they get smoked instead. Besides you ever noticed on some of their fancy subs that are shiny... look at how cheap material they used... fuckin stupid plastic.. lol
-
flanges won't change the sound, it will probably change your tune...just use the flange on one end to mount to the box but here's a little secret, flare up the opposite ends using a torch or heat gun.. using a metal bowl and wala you'll have aero ports lol
I might be able to do that, maybe boil the pipe and try shoving a bowl or something inside of it to flare it out. Does 2 4inch diameter ports at about 9.5inches sound sufficient for a good box at 4.77 ft^3?
according to what info i'm getting from you, you're going to be tuned at 32 hz but you don't have enough port area.. you're going to hear alot of port noise and the box will sound like crap
my suggestion would be going with 4 4inch, or 1 8 inch pvc to gain enough port area in your setup
-
you said you have 2 4 inch pvc's right??

but if you really want to save the current amp you have now, so you can have something to listen to... save up buy a 2nd dc sub and a nice amp for your money's worth then you can sell off the hifonics ...
you have lots of options
