  1. Shared chamber box or dual chamber?

for dual chamber I would go somewhere in the 5.5-6ft^3 volume per sub like CJ said.

for shared chamber I would go somewhere around 8.25-9ft^3 volume after displacements.

For slot port box I would do between 12-16in^2 of port area per cube

For flared round ports, somewhere between 10-12in^2 per cube.

is that 8.25-9 cubicfeet PER SUB OR TOTAL? I'd be surprised if there was that much of a difference if the subs each have their own chamber.

btw my plan is for a shared chamber. my current mock up consists of a 4" x 36" port that is against one edge of the box. I want to kerf the 36" side that isn't against the edge with roughly a 3" radius i believe. I'll check the design and put up some pics tomorrow.

  2. Can anyone reccomend a ballpark port area for 2 DC LVL4 18s AND/OR 2 DC XL 18s? I'm not sure if the area would vary too much between the two.

I was planning on tuning to 35hz.

But this is also a brief question... Would 35hz be a well rounded tune for most varieties of music?

I listen to roughly 40% rap/hip hop, 40% dubstep,edm/ other various electronic stuff, and 20% rock.

    Thanks for any help!

  3. internal bracing with a 1 1/2" dowel rod. Cuts werent perfect either, but i went heavy on the glue and used #12 2" screws to secure them

    IMAG0220.jpg

    Baffle cut out and mounted

    IMAG0223.jpg

    subs in and looking sexy

    IMAG0228.jpg

So its been roughly 4 months since then. ripped the box out the other day to give the baffle a face lift

popped out the level 4 12's

    IMAG0299.jpg

    after applying some wood filler

    IMAG0298.jpg

some good sanding, more wood filler along with more sanding. touched up the port and gave the baffle 4 coats of a nice gloss black

    IMAG0301.jpg

added a decal i had laying around

    IMAG0303.jpg

    flash really shows the gloss

  4. super delay but finally got my laptop functional (had a full beer filter through the keyboard lol) so ill update this

started off by running the new power and ground wire and adding my new xp750

old 4ga vs new xskorpion 1/0 ofc

    IMAG0201.jpg

    IMAG0200.jpg

did some digging and couldnt have found a more perfect hole in the firewall hiding right behind/under my battery!

    IMAG0202.jpg

    IMAG0203.jpg

    IMAG0204.jpg

    crimped and soldered

    IMAG0205.jpg

cable management. also lucked out seeing as this was able to fit (barely) under the trim that runs along the side of the car

    IMAG0206.jpg

rough and messy wire up but it was a lot of progress for the day so i was happy

    IMAG0207.jpg

now for the new box to accommodate the second 12 i aquired

    IMAG0208.jpg

started off on the double baffle

    IMAG0209.jpg

    IMAG0210.jpg

    IMAG0211.jpg

next on some of the angled port walls. didnt turn out as well as i wanted it to but it is still functional.

EDIT;; also forgot I ran out of birch so instead of wasting 20 bones on a 4x4 sheet i used some scrap mdf i had lying around. since it was only for the internal port wall and will never really be seen i wasnt too concerned.

    IMAG0213.jpg

    IMAG0214.jpg

got the box started and placing the port. also painted all the visual parts of the port blue for later

  5. But, consider that KNU is oversized.

According to the AWG spec, KNU 1/0 has a .45 inch conductor diameter, which puts it at just below 4/0 wire

I will round down to 3/0 for this though

1/0 has 53.5sqmm of cross sectional area, and 3/0 has 85.0sqmm of area.

This gives the KNU KCA wire around 55% more area than 1/0.

~50% more surface area, ~50% less conductive. So KNU KCA should be just as conductive as OFC welding cable.

You decide if you want to deal with trying to fit 3/0 in 1/0 terminals. There should be no difference between the conductivity of KNU CCA and OFC welding cable.

So that's why it was such a pain in the ass to get it into the 1/0 connectors I had lol. I agree with the Knu CCA if your on a budget. I used it for my big three and have had no problems. Still noticed a solid 1~2/10ths of a volt higher. The rubber jacket does seem kind of thin in my opinion tho...

Just ordered 36' of xscorpion 0ga from darvex. Ill let you know how it is when it gets here tomorrow! :woot:

  6. Just wondering if I could get any input on my box I will be building for 2 12" Level 4's (stock). Started on a basis of around 1.75 net cubes per sub and roughly 30 sqin of port per sub. Looking to tune around 35 hz. Subs will be getting ~2500watts.

Here is my rough sketch up of what I am playing around with so far. The Height and Width are pretty concrete which leaves me the depth to play with. My max depth is somewhere between 28 and 30"

Any suggestions on my volume or port area/volume??

    Thanks!!

Here's a notable feature that I liked, This set comes with 3 different types of mounting brackets for the tweeters. One of them is a three piece thing you can use to mount the tweeter at an angle (as shown in the pic on a piece of cardboard)

  8. I just checked again and only saw the XP2500 and the XP1000, went from the link on the homepage and also tried going to the powercells/batteries page. Same result man..

http://www.audiosavi...ower-Cells.aspx there you go it's on there on mine.

You see the XP950? They have all the D-series ones but the only XP-series ones I can see out of the 11 products are the XP2500 and the XP1000, seeing as only the XP line is eligible for the 15% discount. IDK if im not being clear or my web browser is fucking with me haha :unknw:

edit- I just sent an email to audiosavings. If I am having troubles with the site they should be able to help me out with the order.
