With good electrical work you should be ok.

The alpine type x would be my choice they have really good sq and great power handling.

If it looks like crap and sounds like crap it must be shit.MTX=FAIL

If it plays briefly then shuts down the subwoofer coil is burnt up near the terminal and it plays until its gets to that point if your outputs are shot you wont have any power to the speaker at all.

As long as you keep the distortion down you won't have a problem.
