  1. Anyone have a valid opinion on which would be better for a Type-R (DVC 4 ohm - 500 watts RMS)? It's for a '99 Grand Am. Box is in my trunk, room won't be an issue. Let me know what you think would be best and why. I haven't been swayed on SQL or SPL yet, so I could go with either and I'll be happy (as long as the bass still hits hard). Thanks!
  2. Would a Type-R sound better in a sealed or ported? I know it goes by preference, but I don't care too much. Whatever gets the most out of the sub with a lot of bass still left over.
  3. Are they that difficult to make? I made one, put my Type-R in it, and it sounds fine. Is it detrimental to the sub if not made correctly? A little background information would be great.
  4. You have a point, thanks for the information. If I wanted "midbass", would I just take out the front speakers (they're 4x6) and put the 8"'s in my door? Where would be best if I wanted to do something like that? Would I keep the 4x6's and do something else with the 8"'s?
  5. If I were to get two cheaper Kicker 10"'s to go with my Alpine 12", would that not be smart? I would need another amp, but as a whole, is it a bad idea from a quality standpoint?
  6. My sub comes tomorrow, and I'm wondering if it needs to be broken in. I've heard two different sides, one being that it does, and another being that it's a load of crap and it already is. Since you guys are all gurus, I'm sure you know what's right.
  7. So my main concern here is whether or not sonic electronix will replace my sub. My Alpine Type-R 12" dual 4 ohm sub just took a crap on me, and I have no clue why. The wiring was right (2 ohm), the enclosure was sized correctly, the tuning was done by a professional, but after a few weeks, it started smelling pretty awful, and now all I get is this rattle-like sound. Will they replace it? I know their warranty states that they won't, but I've read elsewhere that they do.
