  1. Hey, I thought I would asked the one community that knows their car audio what setup I should get.

I have a 2000 dodge durango that had 2 12s that I recently took out due to one sounding like fart and the other one had air leaks around it (they were kickers), I also got rid of the crappy amp.

Now I'm on a $300 budget. I'm not wanting something HUGE which is why I set my budget as it is. I want something that people will hear as I ride by and that people will hear from afar, you know, something noticeable. I also importantly, want something that will last me.

I'm sorry if I sound picky but I'm a noob when it comes to car audio and it'd be best to take recommendations from someone who knows. I need recommendations for an amp, two subwoofers, and what kind of box, the box will be made by my dad since he knows how to do all that stuff.

    thanks everyone.

  2. Run new wires from the new deck. run your constant 12v to the battery, switched 12v to the ignition or fusebox, and ground the...ground. then run new speaker wire to the speakers.

But if you really want to hack the factory wiring apart, find the plug that goes where the "1234" is on the pic. 1 is your factory ground ( I'd suggest NOT using this ground though, just ground to some metal behind the dash) 2 is your switched 12v/ignition wire, 3 is illumination/dimmer (if the new deck has it)and 4 is your constant 12v.

#5 would be the power antenna, 6 is the speaker wires, but I'd just run new wire personally.

So, really, I'd say just rewire all of it. That way you are 100% positive it will work. lol Good luck!

Thank you everyone. I found it easier to run the newer wires directly. I also disconnected the speaker wire harness from the stock volume knob and reran it behind the head unit and connected the corresponding wires.

The reason I ran the wires direct is because I figured out how to connect the wires with the stock wires but the battery died in the process of doing this and when I recharged the battery the battery wire had no current, only the ignition wire did. Old cars suck LOL

  3. what year is this car? sorry if i missed it

how many wires do you have coming out the back of that?

run a DMM to then and see if you get anything

if not then they are probably speaker outputs depending on how many pairs of wires you got you could always do the battery phase trick to see if you can hear one of the speakers click

and do you got a picture of the back side of the radio?

are you doing this for a pal? or are you out of like a shop or soemthing?

    ty

For a pal, look at the new picture of the wires I found. I found the ground and memory I believe, because the other harness looks like speaker wires. Also, the car is a 1986 model :o holy crap

  4. Someone left me a 300 SDL-Turbo Mercedes without even telling me but they're paying me. I took out the stock head unit and looked at the connections and its different than anything I've ever seen(Picture below).

Also, I found the yellow, red, and ground wire(black).

and of course these are the new head unit connections:

How would I connect this head unit to this car? I've looked online for adapters but I have yet to find anything. Do I need to strip these wires and connect them with the corresponding? Please help out.

    If this helps out any:
