  1. You shouldn't design it that way, unless their far apart, you might get cancellation from the cones being so close
  2. 4 8" = 32" of cone area? 2 15" = 30" of cone area? maybe I don't understand how cone area works? I'm assuming it has to do with the radius of the cone? If that's the case, then yes the 2 15s would have more area
  3. Yeah but its the same cone area, the same size box, and the same power .. Wouldnt it be the same? I highly doubt i have room for 3 18s, unless i have the correct enclosure IDK what to do, there are so many options out there .. I just want the most cone area, and most bang
  4. Its gonna all be sealed up, but its going in a trunk car .. I do have room for the box, but i wanted to know just how loud you think this could be?
  5. x2 Great Information I would just go with 4 Comps, cuz Sonic has a KILLER DEAL on Kicker Comps right now BUT if you dont have the room, then just upgrade to a differant amp
  6. Okay so i have a AQ1200D pushing my 15" Type R .. I was looking for new subs, Was gonna go with 2 AQSDC2.5 15" but I can get 6 - 12" Kicker Comps in a sealed enclosure, for $360 .. The enclosure is huge, but hell i dont care .. Do you think this is worth the money? Would it slam hard? if i had 200watts into each sub?
  7. They dont have the same power output .. The kenwood will push 2 of those no problem, each speaker would get 100 watts .. Personally i would try to sell both of those amps, and buy something that is 1ohm stable, and can push 500watts .. Then each subwoofer will get almost 175 watts
  8. Yeah but i might as well return it, and get $180 bucks back .. I have a AQ1200D already, and its a much better amp, higher quality, absolutely love its performance so far
  9. Yeah i just requested a RMA from Sonic, and i just printed it .. So tomorow morning ill be going to my local UPS and sending this 13 lbs of scrap metal back Soundstream FTL! this time
  10. Bump.. I replaced the amp already, but i still have the amp .. I hooked it up just to see what it would do, and it still makes a humming noise, even if the engine is off .. So it cant be alternator feedback, and i switched my RCA's to the other side of the car, so that cant be it either .. Probably a falty amplifier? so i should just return it?
  11. So i guess im stuck with 2 12s or 3 10s My buddy has 2 15s in his 1996 cavalier, but there in a sealed box Whats wrong with using a sealed box, versus a ported?
  12. They can't handle 1750each .. I would rather have some 12" DC lvl 3s cuz they have a bigger magnet and voice coil .. but they are pretty expensive and I don't have a dealer anywhere near me .. I gotta check pricing on those
  13. They recommend 3.6 each .. But can't I just make my depth longer? Like make the box deep, as apposed
  14. I shouldnt have said "squeeze" cuz that made my trunk sound really small .. I have a pretty massive trunk in my opinion, and i think i could easily fit 2 15s" with the right box design 40" wide 17" tall depth 18" But honestly the Depth can be anything, i can slide the box through the back seat
  15. Well i have the money for 2 15" but i cant come up with a design for the box that has the right port length, and tuning .. So if i buy 2 15s then im going with a prefab box or buying 2 12s and building a box I really wanna squeeze 2 15s in my trunk though!
  16. Also would 1 15" HDC3 be louder than (2) 12" SDC2.5 or (2) 10" SDC2.5 if there both on a AQ1200D? Just trying to get an idea of whats gonna be the loudest setup
  17. Just a quick question .. Im talking about AQ SDC2.5 subwoofers, so correct me if im wrong about them .. I was wondering how much louder would (2)15s be over (2)12s or (2)10s considering they have the same Magnets, Voice Coils, and RMS?
  18. I think my max dimensions are about 40" wide 16" high depth doesnt matter ** My trunk opening is only 20" wide, so if its any wider then i can slide the box in through my back seat **
  19. Ive tried to design the box myself, guess I cant fit my 2 15s considering they require like a 48x36x24 box to get them tuned correctly .. Guess ill stick with my shitty Type R Ill keep attempting a design, but no luck yet
  20. Yeah but if i add more port length, it will drop the tuning, correct? This is what someone else told me: But how can i achieve this in a small box?
  21. Thats true, that actually sounds like a good idea .. I would keep the rod short, keep it barely sticking out of the terminal, just enough room for the wires that are soldered on the rod But i would buy some heat shrink tubing or something ..
  22. yeah but if you twist them tight, and maybe use some sort of thread locker or whatever its called to keep them from coming undone
  23. Try T Taps or whatever they are called .. OR You cam use Ring terminals and connect both the 8ga wires onto a Small bolt with washers and nuts, and insert that bolt into the Sub voice coil terminal .. Its hard to explain, but do you get what i mean?
