  1. Okay so Im selling my friend my Kicker ZX1000.1 Running an Alpine 15" Dual 2 ohm, I have the sub wired in series to 4ohms, and the amp pushes 500 watts at 4ohms so its pretty loud ..

But before i sell it to him, i wanna trouble shoot a problem ..

Okay, so ill be playing the sub for like 5min, and it will sound good, then after a couple minutes it will start to smell, im assuming this is because i just re-glued the surround to the basket, im not sure if its from that, or from the coils burning up .. I ran this sub at 1000watts and it sounded great, but now im running it at 500 watts and its burning up? It doesnt make sense to me ..

Also After the smell starts to happen, the amplifier goes into protect mode .. I know its the subwoofer smelling, because its very strong inside of the port of the box ..

What could it be? A bad ground? voltage dropping? what could it be?

I know this is confusing, ask questions if i confused anyone lol

    Thanks,

    Dominic

  2. Same thing happened to me but mine refunded within two days.. Weird

Yeah mine said pending until september 3rd, then it changed to september 17th, im pissed :(

You just have to wait no choice it sucks big time!!

You have to wait for it to clear... Can't do anything about it.

So i have to wait almost 3 weeks for my money?

Thats ridiculous, it automatically takes the money out of my account and sends it to him, why cant they automatically take it from his account?

Im pissed, this sucks a big one lol

  3. Lvl 2 coils are tiny and pound on 300 watts 700 is to much IMO the lvl 3 would be the smart choice

Yeah thats what i figured :P

I guess Its Level 3 FTW! (This Time)

I figured for the extra couple bucks, im getting a 3" Coil as apposed to 2.5" that the AQ has :P

yeassir i do. In the above setup level 2s were replaced with level 3's and it was louder and deeper, much better sounding. The level 2s were great for getting rolling, but the level 3 is really where its at. Its more than worth the price difference. Stronger coil motor all around a better sub.

also dont forget that cone area is king, so stuff as much as you can :good:

Alright, im assuming your a DC Tech? or Rep? :D

Well DC sounds like they have amazing subs, and reliable ones at that ..

Whats the most power a level 3 15 can take?

  4. Okay guys i need some advice ..

So at first i was gonna buy 2 15" AudioQue SDC2.5

and power them on my AQ1200D

Then I got prices from DC and The Level 3 15s are almost the same price shipped ..

I was wondering what you guys would recommend? DC or AQ?

    EDIT:

Also could 2 15" DC level 2 handle my AQ1200D? Its rated at 1470rms i think?

    Thats like 735 RMS each?

I understand thats kinda a dumb question considering their rated at 300RMS, but come on they are DC, and DC subs can handle abuse ..

Just tell me if its not safe lol

  5. he should have somewhere around 1.6-1.9 cubic ft after displacement

He should have posted the exact port width and length ..

That woulda helped a little bit to figure out displacement and exact box volume

  6. if you invert the sub and have an external aeroport then you can still keep that volume

Thats true, But this box already has a slot port on it ..

He can still invert the sub, and gain a little more area ..

But that box is plenty big enough for his sub, i dont see any issues with it working fine ..

  7. SDC's like the same boxes as HDC's. I've built a lot of enclosures for both boxes. Lower tuning won't hurt the sub, but you'll lose some mid/upper end bass is all.

I'd knock out the port bend to raise tuning and gain a little more box volume.

For 2 15's I'd do 8.5cubes with 16^2 of port area per cube and tune 36-38Hz. Nice combo for daily and hitting the lows...

I was told that they only need like 6.26 cubes for both, but people recommended 7.25 for both with a tuning of 37hz

    I highly doubt i can fit 8.5cubes :\

Its going in a trunk car

  8. The sdcs FS are in the low 30s. I think you should be fine. My brother is tuning his 12" sdcs to 33 and we think they should sound great. The HDCs need higher tuning but the SDCs IIRC I've seen a handful atleast of sdcs tuned low on here with no issues

    Thanks,

Make sure to tell me how his subs sounds ..

I deff wanna see a build log, and some videos of his 12s :D

    P.S.

I like your door panels, they turned out really really good .. Keep it up :D

  9. I had the kicker comps and they sound GREAT on sealed boxes dude, maybe i would get just a pair of 15´s on a good ported box, but 360$ for 6 12´s and the box sounds great hehe, besides it would be a WOW factor, once again, those subs sound very nice IMO

Yeah my buddy had them in the back of his Grand Cherokee and it sounded good ..

I just really wanna get alot of bang ..

Im lookin to spend $400 for subs

Anyone have any other suggestions? Even if its 3 10", 3 12" anything really
