i had my gain barely past half so would it actually still destroy the subs?

ok can someone explain clipping? dont tell me to use the search button because i did and cant really come up with a clear definition. Would i be better off trying to repair the tear?

I was driving for around 45 minutes and ended up tearing one of my 2 10" l7's. Im thinking i want to sell the good one and possibly pick up a 15 or 2 12's. I plan to keep my Brutus 1700. Any subs you guys suggest for the amp?
