  3. Here's a video of a local Phoenix dealer installing the Spectrum. don't know if that helps at all, but i figured since there weren't any pictures yet this might be the next best thing:

he doesn't actually start using the stuff 'til a pretty decent way through, and it's a 15 minute video so if you're pressed for time you're gonna want to do some skipping.

  4. thank you SOOO much wenn ... i just took the speakers out so that i can redo the spacers and i will put back in and play that song and see what happens from there if i notice a difference then i will be waiting to get sound deadener .... fatmat seems liek the cheapest but good so i will be using that stuff

if you need more product and want to upgrade to a slightly more expensive but higher quality product, check out Second Skin Audio(SecondSkinAudio.com)

  5. I been lurking on these forums for sometime. I have calculated costs of doing my car in damplifier pro and in spectrum and found spectrum to be cheaper.

I see peoples builds and people doing their doors and headliner with DP but wont it be easier to just use spectrum?

    Awsome site btw

You could use Spectrum or Firewall and then a layer of Heat Wave or Heat Wave Pro. But, you will have to wait 30 days for them to fully cure before applying the HW.

Or, you could install Damplifier or Damplifier Pro and then Heat Wave or Heat Wave Pro. With this method, you won't have to wait for a cure time and you'll have a nice sound and thermal barrier.

Or, you could paint your roof white and stop alot of heat from ever reaching the inside of the vehicle..... :good:

    Hope that helps!

  6. Just wanted to post up that this is great deadener and very easy to work with. I ordered up 10 sq ft for my Mazda's doors and only have e-dead to compare with, Damplifier is so much better to work with!

I'll be ordering a trunk kit to go along with the new sub.

Thanks to Second Skin for a great product.

Glad to hear you like our Damplifier product.Let us know how the rest of your project comes out.

  7. @ OP: after deadening my trunk, I noticed that the bass was a lot cleaner. The response seemed a lot tighter and I felt there was an extreme increase in SQ. I had a 02' hyundai sonata, and used Raamat.

Raamat, Dynamat, Fat Matt, and of course Second Skin are all good companies for sound deadening. there are products that are cheaper but you definately want to try to stick to the higher priced companies because they tend to have much higher quality products. of course, just because it's a higher price doesnt mean it's a good product, but it's definately a sign. every website should have specs for their products listed somewhere. On the Second Skin sight it's right below the pruduct description. the main thing to avoid is anything with tar or roofing products in it.

  9. It's not that it doesn't work. It's more that you need like 4 layers for it to do as well as a quality deadening product. And if you need to buy that much you might as well get the proper stuff.

More or less true. The cheaper stuff is usally made primarily out of roofing materials, and will melt, losing almost all of it's effectiveness in higher temperatures, as well as being less effective to begin with, so if you live in an area where it can get fairly hot, you almost get less than what you pay for. however i understand budgets and why people would go with the less expensive materials. However, It's much more effective to save up for the more expensive products, weather it's Second Skin, Dynamat, or any of the other higher quality companies, and just do the car small sections at a time. you want to start with the doors, then the floors, then trunk, and finaly roof. those areas tend to be most problematic in that order. if you purchase a cheaper product, do not apply it to the roof, as it will more than likely fall on your head at some point, which will be smelly, messy, and if it happens while you're driving, hazardous to your health.

  10. Well to put it this way it has alot more punch but the lows arent as good i can almost hear more of my truck rattle than i can of bass and thats while im inside the car.

we actually have a lot of people with verry similar issues to yours use our products and they are often simply amazed at how well it takes care of the rattles. if you follow the link at the bottom of this post, there is a video demonstrating exactly how effecive our products are on a daily ground pounder built by the good people at Sound Solutions Audio. feel free to call us or shoot us off an email if you want to discuss your car in greater detail. We'd love to take care of those rattles for you!

  11. hey welcome to the forum good sir you must be ken, correct?

    thanks for the welcome!

actually my name is Max, I'm Ken's son. Things here get pretty hectic right now, especially since we're still getting used to the whole business, and my dad isnt verry computer literate(in fact before he started training with anthony he didnt even really know how to use the internet, but he's getting the hang of that now) so he has me work the technical side of the business, such as email and forums, etc.

  12. Congrats to you and the lady and hope you enjoy your travels. Can't say I wouldn't do the same thing. Just hope your product is the same. New ownership comes change and being your product is damn good, makes me question which way it will change. Hopefully nothing changes in product and CS. Outstanding job man and hate to see you go.

To the new owners, welcome and please make sure not to ruin a great product we all love!! :peepwall:

Haha no worries we arent changing anything about the product unless we're 100% sure it's only going to make it better, and that's not going to happen for a long time, if ever. ANT's created a hell of great thing here and we aim to keep it that way.

  13. the difference between dynamat xtreme and SS isnt that substantial IMO. I have both and the only difference I see is price...

    Hi

I'm the new Rep. for second skin on the forums

We designed our regular Damplifier to be comperable to Dynamat Extreme with a pretty substantial price difference. not only that, but our foil is approximately 50% thicker than the foil on the Dynamat Extreme
