I can't find a high output A3 alt anywhere. I cant find a GTI one either(same engine I think). So I guess I'll be doing an extra battery or two. Why XL over 5? Is it louder to push that at 2k? Can I do that for a daily driver?

What's the difference and when buying a sub what's the better choice? I have no clue what it means at all.

Well DC was my second choice. Could become first. The question is two level 4 18's or 1 LVL 5? 2 XL's would just be getting under powered(would get 1k each not 1.5k) so I think that would be dumb wouldn't it? Edit: I take that back I think to start I just want 1 18. So DC LVL 5 18, or FI BTL 18 are my choices. I'm liking the LVL 5 just because of it's epic hugeness. I'm sure that made me sound really stupid.

I live in FL used to live in Milwaukee and yeah cheese is awesome. Also for the Fi suggestions why Q and SSD over BL? In all honesty 2000 watts is probably gonna seem extreme to me. I know for a lot of people on here it's probably nothing but I've only ever heard a type R(none of my friends are bassheads like me ) so two 18's at 2kwrms is a crazy difference. Edit: I'm going to get two BL's or 2 Q's. I like Fi's subs from what I've seen.

2 18's and 4 15's Not something I thought of at all. I could just do 1 18 in a giant box though right? Or 2 18's rated at 1k RMS? I'm not gonna go over 2k. I'm gonna have a lot of fun with this car.

I'll get pics up eventually. Also lol if you can do 3k on 90 then 2k on 140 should be fine with some batteries. I'm guessing I wouldn't need more than 2. If I can do 2k I'd probably do a BTL 15. What's a lot of room? It's 19.5 cubes in the back of the A3. Still say 15 over 18?

Well that's more reassuring. If I were to pick a Fi BTL can a car do 2k watts on a stock alt? If not maybe I should just do a BL 15 or 18. I wanna do a single sub over two. Oh and for all the custom options you can pick on a Fi sub I have no clue what to pick for that stuff. I feel like I'm annoying I wish I knew more.

Oh and I don't care about trunk space so if a sub box has to be huge fine with me. I'm guessing sound deadening is pretty expensive if you can do it on your own. I'm not gonna tear apart my nice car to do it myself. I'd gladly pay a pro though.

I'm going for SPL. As for brands. I only have ones I'm leaning towards for subs. Fi, Lanzar, DC Audio, Digital Designs, Soundstream, or Ascendant Audio. I'm not to picky as this is my first system I don't have anything to compare to. So unless it sounds bad which I doubt any of those brands will, I'll be really happy.

Hey everybody. So I'm a car audio noob. I'm about to get myself a nice new car and want to put a system in it. So first of all do you think the A3 will be good for car audio? Second, what I want is pretty simple: Replace the factory speakers Get 2 12's, 1 15, or 1 18. Whatever will fit. Also I'm thinking 1-2k watts for the depending on what the Audi can handle. Get a touch screen deck. Not one that pops out. One that's just a touch screen. I don't need to play CD's but I need some kind of ipod connection whether it's simple aux or an actual ipod connector. Budget hmm I'll just go with 5 grand. I'll have to have someone help me or go to a car audio store. I always wondered though can you buy stuff and bring it to a store for installation or do you have to stick with the products they sell? So any help I can get would be great.
