usually the mass of an 18" cone lowers the Fs enough that low notes are very prominent when compared to the same speaker in a smaller size
nightshades have a pretty stiff suspension so i doubt u need to tune that low, iirc 34hz is a good note.... so 32hz at the lowest maybe
but the box will ultimately dictate what notes the subs responds best too
Its not that I need to tune it that low, I want to tune it that low. Thanks for the vid derrick good looking out. I guess Ill tune it to 28 and see how they like it.
-
If I'm not mistaken most every 18 inch woofer is made with the intentions of Deep Bass.....Don't see why SD would be any different.
I mean sure you could tune your box for your 18's to be more musical then just a deep note hitter (My Burban) but most people buy 18's because they get low.... :
Yeah some woofers just handle lower notes better. I have no idea what mechanical aspect of the sub its based on, but each sub is definitley unique. Kind of general to say 18s are made to "get low", but I feel you. Can't hurt to see if anyone else is running these in a box tuned to 28-30sh.
-
I've always loved sundown and thinking about running 2 18s in a ridiculously low tuned box. How would the 18 nightshades like 28-30 hz?
-
I did it about 2 years ago on my escalade. Used VHT Niteshades, came out decent for not wet sanding or actually using a paint booth, but I would never do it again.
I went a little over board, but eh it lasted and didnt look too bad.
-
Good job how long did that take?
-
Anyone ever heard of the cost of getting these painted? The big ugly gray cover on the back of the avalanches.
-
Yeah thats not his basement... thats a exhibit of all the stuff that was in his "arcade".

My brother was installing a headunit in his car, a pionner 2100ib or something like that and I wasn't home to help him out with it so I don't know what happened. He thinks it is a short, but he can answer all the questions you guys have. The battery isn't dead, the car won't even make an effort to try and turn over, you know that clicking noise? It doesn't even do that. We can jump the car and it starts but when you start reving the engine the guages on the dash start freaking out and flickering, it doens't look like the battery is dying, but it can't start up by itself...
I think the chip got fucked up or something idk tbh
Please help guys
If its an acura chance is the theft prevention thing went off. Happened to me.

Found another pic of that ford grill, Im feelin it guess no one else is.
-
Aren't there better grills for the Ford than that one?
Thats the only one I found that I liked, removes the ugly ass ford logo.

Damn and I do love how the avalanche has such a smooth ride.
-
sounds like you want ford. get what you want not what we say but im still for chevy
Eh I figured most of you guys would say Chevy. Really depends on the rebates now.
-
the chevy don't have those options as well?
Only the LTZ does and I'm not going to pay 10g more for a truck just because they added chrome cooled seats and navigation. The interior of the new f150's are actually impressive, ford is stepping up. Another thing for the ford is the interior is so much more spacious, its just a bigger truck in general. Very cramped in the Avalanche, even though it looks somewhat more aesthetically pleasing. I think I could make the f150 work with the right grill.
-
Chevy, the new fords look constipated....
The interior in the f150 is so much nicer than the avalanche, and thats the only thing driving me toward the ford. Aircooled/heated seats, power rear window, alot of little things the chevy doesn't have.
-
So both Ford and GMC are starting really great rebates the next couple weeks so I am trading my car in. I am having a hard time deciding on the F150 Lariat or the Avalanche. I have some really nice grills lined up for both, just can't decide what vehicle. I've been back and forth with dealerships and practically have both of the trucks I want picked out, now all I have to do is decide.

i dont know what year they started in the denalis but they ended in 06
some oher cars that have them are
mazda3
toyota 4 runners
some lexus is 250
kia optima
few hyudais sonota and tiburon
ford edge and fusion foglights
impala fog lights (new tyle)
nissan maxima fog lights
mazda 6
vw beetle
tons of them, thats just off my head
Here I was thinking most of those cars had HID bulbs just because of the projector lens. I was considering a lincoln MKZ at some point and noticed they had the projector fogs, thought it was pretty interesting.
-
good luck with the cheap HID kit..
You will be buying another set with a couple months cuz the on's you got now are cheapies
Hopefully the cops dont bug you either for them, anything above 10k is illegal in all states..
When these puke you should really buy from future vision hid!
http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/ind...p?showforum=142
And all smd members get a 10% discount.
Well worth the money, they are the best kit i had so far, and havent failed me once yet!
Futurevision is incredibly overpriced, even with the 10% bullshit, I'm not really about all that... I tend to believe you get what you pay for but I have installed several plug n play HID kits and when it comes down to it, all the ballasts are made over seas and the 65 dollar ones hold up just as well as the 160. Bulbs are a bit of a different story but either which way HID headlights are very affordable these days.
Edit- And stephen what are some cars out there with Halogen projectors, I almost want to say the 04-07 denali's have them?
-
What are you planning headlight wise
-
I have never seen 26'' with 3/5 on the newer GM SUV's. I dont think it would work out too well man.
-
FRIED. sounds like you got it a little too hot and had some glue fail on you
Now my question is, since only 1 coil is blown, and the other is giving out a reading and has conductivity, couldn't he just run that subs 1 good coil and still produce bass?
-
no prob. thats where we got a grill and hood from.
Im feeling this one but its almost a grand with the bumper grill... http://www.carid.com/product.php?productid...9485&page=1

Other than CARID.com does anyone know a good selection of 2009 F150 grills?
-
What do you mean by that?
like the covers make it so u cant see as well, and you could hit and kill someone because your tint is too dark through the windshield right?
With the covers very little light comes out of my headlights, with the windshield tint very little light comes into my car, so its a recipe for disaster, I wouldn't be able to see jack shit and would probably run someone over.

I'd go with stevens choice. http://www.ddmtuning.com/index.php?p=catal...ent=85&pg=1 is great, very affordable prices, ordered 4 kits myself. They have an awesome warranty too.
