Mine stopped lighting up after less than a month of having it, I ripped it out of my car and threw the piece of shit out of the window.

Is it gonna have a surround like the one in the model or a tall roll so its increases the effective cone area?
Exactly as pictured. I have yet to measure an SPL difference between a wide and tall roll -- for the record -- not even 0.1 dB
Tall rolls are more aesthetically pleasing, but my man, a concave cone would set that bad boy off...

My buddy has a MA Audio HK 4000d that puts out a bit more than 2000 @ 2 ohms. Hes looking to get about 400. If your interested let me know, not a bad choice because if you ever decide you want more power you will always have it on tap.

You guys by me a recone and ill do it!! 4'' 8 layers arent easy to come by!!!
4'' 8 layers are actually pretty common.

can somebody tell me why when I'm driving on the freeway and a car with HIDs that is behind it will seem like one of their headlights is flickering and/or changing colors but when they pass me/get closer its perfectly fine?
its the cut off line of the projectors, and as they hit a bump/go over uneven road, the light is aimed at different angles and seems to be changing colors. happens on range rovers alot.

Fi and its sister companies are the only ones that can use the 18" 12 spoke. They have exclusive rights to it which is why you dont see any other 18's in 12 spokes from other sub manu's
That is interesting, I always wondered why David and Jacob used 6 spokes.
-
^^^^ Also forgot to add that I have origional manufactures packaging, and each sub seems to handle 3krms at 29hz tuning daily.
Just had fresh recones done not even a month ago, and subs only seeing half the power I normally run to them until they are broke in, which seems a long ways away yet.
Well what are they my friend?
-
yea with any luck its just a broken tinsel. im not so lucky but its just a reason to make it a lvl 5 and jump up to more power right
The leads look fine, any chance the small connection from the voice coil wire to the lead is broken?
-
that sucks man. rare thing for a NS too. i have a dv lvl 4 that reads 2 on one coil and 4.9 on the other. O.L. i think means open loop. as in open circuit just fyi not tryin to be a bish
Perhaps I don't exactly know, I've heard over load but open loop makes more sense. I wonder what it could be.
-
One of my coils recently went bad out of no where (was not thermal failure, sub was receiving a clean 900 watt signal.) and was curious how much recones usually go for? I would email Jake but I send him almost an email a day and I'm trying to not clog up his inbox. It was a dual 1 ohm 56mm coil with extra stiff spiders. The odd thing is one coil reads fine on the multimeter, but the other side that reads OL, or over load.
-
Yes.
Beautiful, could you explain the purpose of the aluminum ring and the machining in the top/bottom plates?
-
15"
Jacob, still using 6 spokes for the 18''?
-
Jacob, the top plate looks HUGE! Think it would be possible to build me 2 of these with 9.75'' spiders? I've got the spacers and spiders to send you if you dont stock em.

I'm looking for either (2) 3hp axis motors with copper shortening ring on pole piece, or (2) 4hp tc 5200 or eclipse ti pro motors. I have cash in hand... ready to buy. Maybe even 3hps off of lightning audio storms even though they have no short. ring.
-
Maybe they just use a really big former collar?

Brand new in box, never used, I bought 1 too many. Not like my other ones are ever going to break, so this one is just taking up space.

rd beats hard as shit, andrews is loud as fuck
I don't know much about the subs but I know they had a recall witha line of their amps and it wasn't handled as well as everyone would of liked.

Covering my enclosure in vinyl, but first I am covering it in 1/4 inch sew foam so it has some plush to it. Whats the best adhesive to join the foam onto the wood with? I want something that will spray down evenly, and I don't have a spray gun so its going to have to be a can adhesive.

The Level 6 motor looks sexy, I like how he keeps the same style of motors throughout the whole line, just increases the size
Soundstream has NOT made there own woofers domestically since 05'-06' and that was 1 model, had nothing to do with the XXX line from Soundstream, which was imported from overseas like all the other woofers from SS since 2000'
Yeah we figured out I was referring to sound splinter. So apparently this isn't t he real level 6, it has a different style custom tooled basket.
-
actually no they arent...that basket is totally different then TC....they used a TC motor at one time for some of thier XXX series then changed the motor to somethign else but that basket has always been a soundstream basket.
i cant remember who elses motor they used when they changed it but it wasnt a soundstream exclusive either.
Learn something new everyday
Driving to Tampa, FL tonight returning tomorrow.
