  1. neither of them to be fair another v's thread
  2. Thanks Guys i cant thank you enough for trying to help me out Taking into account whats been said i have looked into my amp and it seems bass boost is 45hz. head unit is a sony cdx gt31u and the bass control on it goes to +10 for the sub and upto +10 for bass/mids and trebs. Im going to oscope it with as many tones as i can now from here http://www.stompaudio.com/test-tones-c-6793.html Last time i oscoped the head unit @ 40htz i started @ 0 bass and could get max volume of 35 without clipping at all. I started turning the bass up and it started to clip @ bass 8 max volume 35. so backed the bass off to 7 and started setting the amp. Looks like im going to have to start all over with the settings
  3. yup scoped head unit before amp with an oscilloscope not dmm and no clipping until 8 bass so dropped bass to 7 and then scoped amp. found amp maxed out @ 24 volume on head unit @ 40htz tone gain on amp @ 4v and bass @ +16db no clip am i doing something wrong ?
  4. hmmm will oscope in the morning and see ty but it thought you oscope the output of the amp before a woofer is connected just like i did with the HU RCA's and no amp connected ?
  5. thanks watchthebass will investigate £809 gbp hmmmmmm no didnt scope with sub hooked up ??? should I ???
  6. Theres no way im running a clipped signal guys as ive oscoped it soooooo many times now with music and tones. head unit only clips on max bass of 10 so i run 7 @ volume 24 ( no clip) amp is set to 4volts input and bass max and no clipping @ any htz 500gbp is just for the subwoofer guys but i can go a lil further if needed can get an Ascendant Audio Mayhem 18 for 480 gbp http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/ascendant-audio-mayhem-18.html but was thinking of smd 18 if i can stretch to it and build up to it. But not knowing the price difference kinda hard to know where to go really :/ not only that i know its not what you've got but the way that you use it. I will get a vid of this 12" on my rear view mirror and post it real soon so you can see. I was thinkin that the pioneer 3004spl wasnt all that and thats why it keeps blowin on me, they seem to get hot quickly especially in a ported box.I did have it in a sealed box but soon learnt the lesson of why ported is better lol
  7. Ok so ive almost blown my second pioneer 3004spl 12" hell knows how as im runnin 1000watts rms with the help of alpine. Ive searched high and low for smd subs but cant get a price here in the UK. I want to be able to upgrade to more power and would like a sub i cant blow or dye tryin lol. Would be nice to get a sub i cant blow and then upgrade from there. I'm currently running a 110amp alt with 4awg power wire and two 100ah batteries split charged to my alpine mrd 1005 as you can see if have lots of room :)but will have to get a sub first then build a box then work on powering the sub. It would be great to get some feedback from this forum to help me along my way to ground pounder status with a single sub. I have about £500 gbp but can stretch a lil further if needed for the right new subwoofer (smd). I have always had some kind of bass in my rides for years and now i think its time to build something a lil special. So hopefully with your help my bass will come true. I've read sooooooooooooooo many posts on this forum about peoples builds and have to say it's an inspiration to me, so what what do i do ????????????????????????????????? apart from move to america ?
  8. oh MAAAAAN im so glad i Oscoped my system before i played these tracks That chit straight out BANGS
  9. I dont sorry i have the Pioneer TS-W 3004 SPL powered by an alpine pdx1.1000 with a secondry battery on a 100amp alternator with 4awg and recent 250amp anl fuse. kept popping the 80amp agu's lol friend of mine had 2 of your subs though powered by alpine mrd 605 i think it was and that was good too. as for box making well i learned that lesson in a hurry. i built a box to the sub specs and it was laaaaaaaaaaame. i then experimented and found that a big ported box had more boom. lots of info on the net and especially on here about boxes, Whats to loose really as you can only learn by mistakes and i gotta admit its fun too. After some experimenting i ended up with a double the size box with a slotted port and man does it bang for what it is
  10. I seen this vid and thought hmmmm i wonder so i got an ancient o scope which cost me nothing. damn thing has valves in it lol. set it all up and wouldn't you know it i was clipping....... no wonder i blew a sub :/ Great how too vid Steve you have saved my new sub from distruction with this very informative video. I did just as he described in the vid and found my deck clipped only when bass was above 7/10 moved on to the amp and found i could hit it with max gain and no clipping WOW My system has never sounded so good and to know i can wind it up without clipping or burning another sub up all i can say is a BIG THANKYOU Steve
  11. The Alpine Skullz put up will do you ok and save you some coin which you can buy the wiring kit with and a box if you dont have one I run alpine on my pioneer sub and it works like a charm
