i was having similar problems. sundown 3500 @ .5 270 xp, 3 d3100s. redid my big 3, added an engine block/alternator ground to bat -. added more runs between my two back batteries as well, helped a lot. still haven't added a ground to my second back battery. check for belt slip, beef up your grounds. dunno if this would help but maybe try taking the yellowtop out?
*edit - i struggle with english at times...
-
just ordered a hat, wooohh! =D
-
congrats moving up is moving up lol
-
i think it does. on the installation page it says
"if you purchase a crossover network for your woofer/midrange/tweeter system you do not need to connect condenser"
"if your system does not include a crossover network, you must connect condenser"
http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_14291_Pyramid+TW18.html
on the fourth picture the condenser is the little black round tube thing attached to the terminal.
*edit - i think that's the condenser at least lol. don't see what else it could be
*edit again - it's a pair. and they get stupid loud. even with 4 l7 12's on a sundown 3500 i still had to turn them down. maybe im just not used to highs but i think you'd be happy with them. read the reviews on sonic, all positive.
-
no idea lol. description says "It comes complete with capacitor, crossover network, & swivel housing."
this is the pyramid website for it but it's kinda lacking in info
http://www.pyramidcaraudio.com/itempage.asp?model=TW18
ill go take a look at the box
-
i dont have much experience with tweeters but i have 4 of these in my suv and they sound pretty damn good to me. can get loud as hell, i have them turned down quite a bit, otherwise it gets kinda painful.
black version is a bit more expensive
amazon ships to australia http://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=596190&

i tried to before but i never got any replies on it and it went nowhere, maybe i was just trying a bad site. right now i just buy them at the airport (international flight) mild sevens are so damn good. plus its like 15 bucks a carton. only bad thing is limit of 2 per trip. occasionally have friends bring some back if they can but otherwise i just suck it up and get raped by high cig prices
-
i couldnt help but crack up on that leg lift video. lol, thats just stupid ridic.
no xplode sucks... all it does is give me gas and make me wanna shit lol.
-

shoulda loaded that 45 w/ gallons of wood glue
lol, not quite, i did go through almost two bottle/thingers of titebond whatever wood glue though. and 3-4 tubes of caulking. hafta get creative when proper tools aren't there. my jigsaw hates me, didnt like cutting the double baffle luckily i found some nice people from midwestspl that are letting me use their garage/tools if i need. be nice not having to drive over an hour do any enclosure work and have proper equipment for once.
-
That looks good dude for not having all the tools most people use. Good job!
its a pain in the ass though lol. also takes so much longer than it should. my only electric tools are a jigsaw and a drill lol. found a circular saw in the basement after i was pretty much finished with everything though. cut the holes out for the subs trying to hold the wood still with one hand and the jigsaw in the other while it was vertical. hopefully someday ill have some spare cash to spend on some decent tools. 25 dollar jigsaw woooh!
-
just the factory belt, works great. i dont know much about alternators but im guessin if there was slip id notice it. as for the box, im doing a new one again lol. wall with 6
*edit oooh didnt notice a fellow yota owner!! dont see many 4runners around here.
-
why thank ya, think the port might be a bit too big though lol. think im upgrading soon though lol. may be leaving the country soon so if i can ship my car ima either do 6 l7s in a proper wall or 8 in a clamshell wall.
-
lol, thats fucking awesome, bumpin in a minivan!
-
ive only built two boxes but lining up the boxes predrilling, glueing, then screwing has worked great for me. the screws clamps the wood together while the glue dries. dont really hafta worry about getting 90 degrees or not being to do anything else while waiting for it to dry
-
anyone know if this would be be better facing backward? im not sealing the edges or top off. thanks!
-
hahah subs > gf?
you have a 15 already rite? just keep adding onto that.
-
so i put my subs and hooked it up to this box:
and hated how it sounded. box was 38x31x21.5. port was 36.5x3.6 17 inches long. got on smd and asked some people for some recommendations. turns out, box was too small, port was too, sounded like shit cuz it was tuned so high (37). so after some recommendations and over 9000 3rd row wall and wall suggestions from cashdollar i ended up with this with the help of ami customs. 45x28x36.5. tweaked the port size while at lowes so i could fit all 4 l7s on the front 9.75x26.5 32 length (tuned stupidly low i think) so i went home and cranked out a box overnite. second box ive built so go easy on me
duct tape clamp xD
bracing
bad job with the jigsaw
i couldn't cut a 45 with a jigsaw to save my life so i just filled up the empty area of a uncut piece of mdf with caulking lol.
got kinda messy
anddd stuck it in. so damn hard getting that in by myself. it looks kinda sloppy but shitty sound was pissing me off so the goal was to get this in as fast as i could on top is a box with 4 6x9s and 4 tweeters. i didnt want to wait for truckbed liner to wait on the sub box so i just left it unfinished. didnt bother with terminals, just drilled a hole and caulked it.
someday ill find a better place to put this....maybe. kicker 850.4 is mounted on the box in the back.
lovely view from the rearview mirror. still getting used to not being able to use it lol.
ill see if i can get a video up laterrrrrrr. sounds a helluva lot better than the first box, hits the lows, rattles the shit out of the car.
*edit - thanks everyone for your help! especially ami customs for answering all my questions at 4 am lol
-
yea, i saw it. i dont think my skill levels quite up to that point yet lol. been workin on the box for the last 4 hours. should be done by tomorrow ill get pics up later.
