  1. The difference in them is the ability to block out ground noise. How it's braided, not braided, connectors, stuff like that. If you're into SQ, the better the cable the better the noise blockage the better sound. If not sq and you just wanna sound good,go with the knu cables. Great prices and decent cables. BUT PLEASE DON'T JUST GO BUY RADIO SHACK CRAP CABLES. By the time you get done and you figure out you'll need to change the cables to better ones' you've wasted a ton of time and a bunch of money. Just my opinion. GO WITH THE KNU

  2. Damn it Meade! I'm local and would love to simply come check out your shop and bounce some ideas off you for my two vehicles. I would love to compete in this thing but this weekend I'm busy for my birthday and next weekend I'm packing and getting ready for a week long river rafting trip starting on the 25th. Depending on when you have this, for sure, I may just come check it out.

I'll say this though. I know for someone like me, speaking for myself only, to get paired up with a guy (or gal) who knows about box designs and stuff like that would be epic. I lack so much in my designs. Well lack isn't really the term, I'm very non educated when it comes to ported enclosures at all. Sealed yes I can do em, but any monkey can do a sealed enclosure. Anyway, I'm interested in this but it's gonna depend on when you do it. Either way I'd love to see the video.

    Sorry for rambling!

  3. Ok here's a couple of pictures.

From the trunk, view of the pass through open, or arm rest down.

The duct tape, BTW, is cause it's not finished yet and the metal is sharp as hell! I know, I already cut myself on it.

So what do you guys think? What if i just build two sealed enclosures the way the design shows, and then just butt it up to the seat? What would happen as far as sound? Anyone know or care to take a guess. I'm seriously uneducated in this department, box design. Thanks!

  4. Can someone please help me design a 4th order band pass box for a pair of Hertz HX300D (Dual 4ohm) 12's? I suck at box design, although I can build just about anything, I need a design for it to work. The box I'd like to go in the trunk of my 2006 Honda Civic Ex Sedan. The area I have to work with is 41.25" wide x 15" tall x ?? deep. It has a 30 degree rake on the seat to be most space economical, needs to be a wedge type box. I have a pass through that i cut out of my back seat behind an arm rest. The opening is 11" tall by 6" wide. I can extend that to 13" x 9" (one inch all the way around)but I'd prefer to leave a little space if possible to make a grill to cover the hole.

Again, I suck at box design, aside from sealed and anyone can figure out a sealed box, but I am interested in a 4th order utilizing the pass through. I'm going to do a couple of ideas on good ole MS Paint today so that can help someone in what my thoughts are. Hopefully we can get this figured out quickly. Thanks!

If you're local to sac and want to take a look at the platform (car) let me know and I'll see what I can work out for time and scheduling.

Ok here are a couple of MS Paint Drawings I've made up. You can kind of see what I'm attempting here. I'll also get some pictures in the car this morning and get those posted up as well. Thanks for all help in advance.

  5. good shit bro!!! do you live nearby? you should come by the shop one day, just let me know when so i am not knee deep in saw-dust and your totally welcome to come thru. :drink40:

Well I'm not sure where exactly your shop is, but I'm on Madison and Jackson (right by Roseville road). Other than you caring about being covered in sawdust, I don't care. I've been in construction for a long time, I'm used to it. Rather miss it actually. Anyway, I'd love to come check it out. Thanks!

  6. Hey Steve, new on here but I've seen you around for sure. Your builds, as well as the "hoe" driving around. Coarse that was before you painted it an it looked sick then. Anyway, like I said I've seen you in my area and I recognize some of the places that you did videos at, particularly the Safeway shopping center on greenback. I just went through all of your videos and first things first all I can say is I'm floored! Great great build, great detail, great instructions while you work, and more. You've given me some great ideas based on some of the things you've done on the hoe and the civic. I actually tumbled onto here cause I was looking at the best way to go about a buss bar for numerous cables up front, well I say numerous I'm at 5 compared to your 30+ in back, but I wanted a buss anyway. That and then when I saw the videos, I'm specifically inspired by the door panels you did in the hoe. I'd love to come take a listen to it sometime. It's an awe inspiring piece of art work. Thanks for sharing it with us!
