  1. Yes I also concur you can clip an amp in any situation doing a couple of things wrong. And I would invest some money in a voltage meter that you should wire up to your amp and put where you can see it all the time, when the voltage gets below 12.5, stop and let it recharge. I would also invest in a good battery charger and charge your rear battery you are going to add monthly or weekly depending on how much you play it loud.

  2. Gotcha. I plan on adding a 2nd battery in the trunk when I upgrade to bigger subs and sub amp but I don't want to replace the alt unless I absolutely have to.

If you plan on daily pounding it then you either have to have a large battery bank and then charge that regularly basically daily with a "good" charger or have the alt power to run your demand and battery for just cushion(voltage support).

  3. You have to get a main harness that has the pigtail in it for the additional alts, more then one alt and then you just buy the extra harnesses for whatever amount of alts you have. Like with my quad setup, I needed one main harness and then 3 extra harness for each additional alt, the extra harnesses are like 20 bucks each I believe, I am not sure cuz xs power never send me a bill/invoice(I always have to ask for one), they just take money out of my account and then send me stuff....LOL

  4. I was told it would help with my dimming lights. It did help a little because I could tell my system got a little louder and my lights don't dim as bad as they used to. So it had to increase the voltage just a little if it got louder afterwards and the lights don't dim as bad?

That is caused from your better grounds, really all you needed was BIG 2, upgrading the alt wire on a 70 amp alt is not going to change much.

  5. That will get very loud with the right amount of power and I love my aq's and yes it is the picture in my avatar. I would start by building a base in the rear floor of the car, basically a deck out of 2x4's, get that level and then build up from there, and take your time on the trim(beauty panel) that is what will make or break a large part of you build, I have seen trucks that had that not sealed well and lose a few dbs, like 1 to 2 full dbs. So it is important.

  6. Yeah, I figured that! I WOULD'NT be throwin it together I'll tell you that!! I would be taking my time on this, not in no way of a rush!! So to do something like this should be in a project and not a daily is what you're saying?

If you are doing this to a daily driver that you need everyday, I would do it in steps that you can complete in a day at a time so you don't tie the vehicle up to where you can't drive it if needed. But it is better if you have a second vehicle cuz then you won't rush on it so much. I had two other car sittin in my driveway when I did mine on my 01 sierra and it took 3 weeks to complete it.

  7. Sounds interesting, so if its just a box, how do you keep the thing from falling over? (dont mean to sound stupid but im serious) All the walls or threads I see on here, they all look like they're built into the car/truck

You brace it and built it into the vehicle for best results and make it part of the vehicle. You have to anchor it in some fashion, just depends on the vehicle.

  8. If you are running off the just the regulator on the alt your voltage won't be too high. I have seen personally and heard of few people having issues with the VCM running multiple alts, I have seen in my own testing it controls two alts perfectly but three and four or more, it won't let the voltage come down. I have a few theory's but I will see what XS power has to say since they make the thing.

  9. Reserve capacity is very important in a daily pounder, that is how long the battery can sustain voltage for a given amount of time. The higher the reserve, the longer the batteries will be able to keep voltage up!!! So basically with 5 d3100 you would be way over your reserve requirement and still under your budget amount, and I believe 5 d3100 take up less space and weight when compared to the 8 3400's??? Just my view on it, I would have went with the 3100s
