  1. .46 DB increase, is a HUGE increase at that SPL level. Different voice coil temps, or whatever is not going to make a .5 db diff. Maybe in a Extreme vehicle.

Cody, Every amp has a sweet spot, A spot the gain likes to be. Also try messing with the phase if your just running 1 amp, or 2 amps strapped. If your running more than 2 amps strapped dont because you wont be able to achieve the same phase on each master amp.

10 X LOG (.46/10) = 11% power difference. 11% power difference = 11% impedance difference. So from 1.00 ohm to 1.11 ohms. Totally possible with very little heat.

Math and SPL dont go hand and hand...If that so they you should be able to calculate scores...and you cant.

    Well said....

  2. And just to add, there is a big jump in power going from 1 ohm down to .35 or lower. I gained exactly 3 db on my last wall going from 1 ohm down to .25 ohm on burp. Also doubled my power output clamped style, went from 5500 watts to 11k on two 3500D.1 AQ amps. And I have seen similiar gains from DC amps doing the same thing.

  3. I didn't read all the comments but to the OP

At .35 nominal you can see normally 3x the rise for actual impedance to the amp, so you would be close to 1 ohm, now since you are wired so low, your damping factor is greatly reduced meaning your efficiency just went to shit lol. So after you consider efficiency which would be in the 70% range would be my guess. You should see close to rated, I would guess 7.5kW at 12 volts at .35 nominial ohm load. Just my 2 cents and this electrical engineer doesn't have any idea wtf he is talking about :)

LBOX88 you know better then to drop the magic smoke lol

  4. Generally it is the regulator when you have varying voltage like that with rev. Sounds to me like the mechanic possibly tried to rewire to get it to drop the alt code, which he should have left alone because that is normal to get an alt code logged when installing a VCM. It is a body code, which means it doesn't do shit, so doesn't affect anything. Most likely when rewiring the VCM he smoked the reg which isn't hard to do if you are ate up with the dumbass :)

  5. No mean to thread jack but how can there be a bad box design? I never realized that there were different box designs. I figured that there were different volumes and tunings and that was it. Just snooping around the forums for the best bang for a 1200 rms @2ohm with 4-4.5ish cubes. Dunno which brand to go with or size subs. (2x12 or 1x15) Was planning on using RE's box calc. Is that this "bad design" that Kingsuv talks about?

That is what he is referring to exactly, wrong tuning and wrong volume, wrong port area, making for a bad design.
