  1. already did a alt upgrade only reason i have a adjustable voltage reg is cause on 96 jeep grand cherokee the voltage is contraled by the ecu so there for i gotta bypass that and i need the sweet spot of 14.4 thats where my amp reaches its peak rms power

How many amps your amp pull full tilt and what your alt put out full tilt? Amps wise.

  2. Even AGM batteries gas and squeal like a pig when over charged.

I have a nsb90 that is bulged, gasses, and squeals. It was used in our street b car for competition and was charged at a very high voltage to get the most out of the amp for compeitions without exceeding the voltage limit for the class. And this is a AGM battery so that proves Orielly's wrong :)

But under normal conditions AGM batteries do not release any sort of gasses and are safe for to be inside the vehicle cabin, and installed which ever way but upside down in many cases.

As for charging at 15 volts to a agm battery, that is fine.

I charge my D3100s at 15.2-15.5 volts with 3 DC Power alternators and have zero issues with them what so ever.. And did I mention these batteries are over 5 years old and are still rock solid!

AGM batteries require a higher charging voltage to be fully charge.

Normally a 12 volt battery charges around 14volts

A 16 volt battery charges around 18 volts.

A good AGM battery should rest around 13 volts or so, so if rests at 13 you should charge it around 15volts. (rest meaning fully charged, with no current draw on the battery)

Ive never heard of a XS Power battery having issues being charge at the 15volt range, nor had any problems with mine.

However I have read stories of Kinetic batteries overheating and bulging from it.

I bulged my d3400 from just charging at 14.7 constant for 4 hours. So it happens with less voltage if the heat is right.

  3. so if theres no liquid acid how will it produde gasses wow ya self an my main question since you seem to be a know it all where should i set my voltage regulator so i dont drop past 14.4 on hard bass drops. so since you have all the answer tell me where the regulator should be set??? i'm waitingand why isnt dc kyle toasten heis batts at 15.1 volts or steve him self runs at 15.3 and guess what no toasted batts or gasses wow

Since you asked about these two different people, if they are charging that high once they are in hot float mode of the alts, then they are overcharging if they are running that high, and emit gas from the batts. It is chemistry there is no way around it.

Read this AGM battery so you don't have to take my word for it.

If you are dropping voltage, since you asked, you don't have the current from the alt to supply the demand, upgrade your alt. If you need more info I would be glad to help. Not trying to come off as a dick if I did, just trying to help and save you headaches that I have already experienced several times over.

  5. well when i talk to one the agm reps when i worked at orielly auto he said they didnt emit fumes thats why the are safe to place in a car. theres no liquid acid to produce harmful fumes other wise everyone with batteries would be sick and in the hospital and fyi this thread is about voltage not baking and replacing batteries

If you OVERCHARGE, which running at 15 volts constant is overcharging, that will emit gas. WOW!!!!

  6. Perhaps you should do a little research then because you are wrong.

Here I will help you out, this is one of Optima's disclaimers all there batts are AGM's, XS power has a similar disclaimer but I can't find it anywhere

Always use a voltage regulated battery charger with limits set to the above ratings. Overcharging

can cause the safety valves to open and battery gases to escape, causing premature end of life.

These gases are flammable! You cannot replace water in sealed batteries that have been

overcharged. Any battery that becomes very hot while charging should be disconnected

    immediately.

You can also run into the battery expanding or bulging out due to excessive overcharging due to the extreme heat that is created from prolonged overcharging.

  7. What do you have your bass boost set to? I believe that is driving you to clip faster, and if the light is blinking it is just a "soft" clip, only once it is solid it is actually clipping.

I have the bass boost on my 3500d.1's set to zero, you don't need bass boost ever!!!! LOL

  8. What forum, chances are pretty good that I am a member of whatever forum your build log is on? I would really like to take a good look at how this was accomplished.

This is the only audio forum that I am on really, only cuz I know a few fellas on this forum. The build log is on gmfullsize.com under the audio section and then also on arspl forum, which is the local state comp forum.

  9. Is there a build log on this vehicle? I would love to see some detailed pics and some tech info on the enclosure. An absolutely incredible number for only 4 15's and 2 3500 watt amps!! WAY TO GO!

Thanks, I would like to do a build log here, I have one on another forum. It won't allow me to link pictures to this forum from my website since my pictures don't have jpg or jpeg in the address, some feature with this forum I guess so it means I would have to host all my pictures on a different server, which there is over 100 for this build.
