"Hit em til it Hertz"
"I have a BIG set..........of woofers!!!"
-
Do another run from alt back and I would do a ground run at the very least from alt case to battery negative in rear.
-
Add another D3100 and some more wire. Done
-
every time i see a video of astros like this it makes me want one. then i realized it would take me about 7 years to build it.
And that van looks brutal, 145.1 out the window on 30 second average is a big number for a 12 volt system.
-
Vids of cliffs van or fail lol
-
Normal, and the only time I disconnect the battery is NEVER. Why? Because it is a waste of time, just be smart and realize what you are doing, simple.
-
I would run 300 amp fuses for each line. Fuse to the rating of the cable for this type of setup and not the rating into the amp. Otherwise you aren't gaining anything with the dual inputs.
^^ this
I would only do this if the amp has an internal fuse. Ask the guys at Sundown and see what they say.
Then wtf is the point of having dual inputs if you are going to fuse down the wire to what 4 gauge cable is rated at, it is a complete WASTE of dual inputs and wire!!!!

I have two stinger 70 amp power supplies with 6 batteries and I can run 8k rms full tilt for hours.
-
-
really though, we need to test the differences in current, straight wire vs bolts, aluminum, brass ect. termlab the results. we all know that what we do every little thing counts down to removing the carpet off your box. ive got aluminum bolts, but I just ended up doing a hard wire, to prevent loss of any PPP PO O WWWAAAA
I volunteer you to take of that testing and report back lol.
-
Break a CD like all the cool kids do.
-
I used brass bolts on my last wall which did 160s off 7k power,
-
You can run that remote gain cord where ever you want to.
-
thank you very much helping me setting my gain, now i no where it needs to be, also another question for you if this makes sense.
i have a prefab box, its better then alot of the market but when having a prefab box do you attend to clip your signal more because the box dont
put out enough?
make sense
Box design has nothing to do with clipping.
Now you may be able to clip more do to the fact the you have better cone control from the box being under sized or could be the other way around be able to clip less because to much air space and wrong port area.
-
great video man, glad you showed me this. just to get it right in my head.
so its almost like its constant but its blinking alittle bit, as long its not glowing solid red
correct=)
Yes, some of my other videos, you can see where I play it and it is clipping solid during a demo. The light is solid red.
-
Got to 4:00 in and see what I am talking about.
-
lol yea true, and yes i went to his house before and i got a new head unit and i cant get ahold of him now, its the same head unit i had but wanted to see
where this one clipped
so blinking red is fine?
Blinking is fine, solid red not good unless you know wtf you are doing or you gonna smoke some shit lol.
-
ok i will do that.
i no some people let it solid red but they said it dont mean anything cuz its not accurate.
Well IMO, those people think they know what they are talking about and don't.
-
Think of it like this, the gain at the amp is a coarse adjustment and remote gain knob is a fine adjustment. Clip light blinking means you are "soft clip", solid red means you are clipping. So just don't make it solid red and you are fine.
-
OK alright . . . we'll just chalk it up to the fact that you owe me a cold frosty beverage . . .
If I ever do run into you, I can make that happen!!!!
-
Do you need my PayPal address to send me royalties? LOL!
HEY NOW, I did ALL the work is the way I see it, you just had the idea, so who owes who then? LOL
-
FYI - a really slick version of this exists here: http://rockfordfosga...ch.aspx#ampcalc
Tony D', I, and Eric Russell developed it while I worked there.
That is nice, I like that power loss in wire part.
-
Got it done works like a champ can't believe I didn't think of this years ago. Thanks Tony!!!!

Math.
3,875 / 75% amplifier efficiency = 5,166.67 Watts Input
5,166.67 Watts / 14.4 Volts DC = 358.8 Amps Required to reproduce sine waves at full output
358.8 x 50% = 179.4 Amps Required to reproduce music at clipping
If you'll be listening to music with this amp, then . . .
Alternator size = 179.4 Amps + Stock Requirements + 10 Amps for each additional battery (3 Amps for each XS Power Battery) + 20% buffer
Otherwise, use the BIG number . . .
Methinks it's time to make a calculator and stick it on my web site . . .
Good idea I am gonna make an excel sheet that does this.
Voltage Drop BIG TIME :(

What is your voltage difference at the alt verses at the amp? If is over .5 volt then more wire is a must.
