  1. If I had thought of this issue before creating my baffles I would probably go with a circular port that I can take out and put in as I choose, but I am pretty much locked into my current baffle design, I don't have enough mdf to cutout 2 more baffles
  2. I forgot to mention that I will be running the sub off of a sony xplod amp pushing 500RMS, from what I have been reading putting that extra 100rms should be ok for the woofer as long as I don't clip it. If that is incorrect please let me know.
  3. Hey guys, I am currently building a sub enclosure (my first) and I am just about to sand the pieces and seal up the box. Before I do that I would like to get some input on the tuning frequency that I have chosen for my box because I would rather not have to tear it apart later because it sounds bad. The link below is to the Thiele-Small data sheet for my woofer (p3d210). The box I designed will have an interior volume of 1.4 cu. ft. and as of right now it will be tuned to 40.5 Hz (both are manufacturer recommended), I do not know enough about the data sheet numbers to determine if the woofer will perform better with a higher or lower tuning frequency, I listen to every kind of music there is so the box would need to be "multi-purpose". Any input would be greatly appreciated, I am very excited to get this box finished up and see all my work pay off http://www.rockfordfosgate.com/rftech/library/2007/5_Subwoofers/P3D210_revA-TS.pdf
  4. Hehe, I figured that would be it. I have very limited funds, being in college full time and job part time, so I think I will keep it safe for now and stay at 50 or under, the bit that my HU is putting out does not seem to be giving the speakers what they want. Thanks guys, you have been very helpful so far and when I get my sub box built and amps wired up I will post up some pictures
  5. What is the max you would push through these? http://www.amazon.com/Rockford-Fosgate-R152-S-5-25-Inch-Component/dp/B002X786XQ I was thinking that a 50 rms amp should do well with these, so that I can avoid asking these "what is the max this takes" questions in the future, how do you determine what a safe to push through a speaker? Thanks, Nate
  6. Will do, did not know crutchfield would show me diagrams if I did not purchase stuff from them. Thanks for the info bud.
  7. I am really new to doing my own car audio, could you explain what you mean by done right? And are you saying that when I go to buy a single channel amp for this woofer I should not limit myself to the 400 watts? I think a 1 channel would probably be better but I had this xplod amp powering 2 12s in my last car, the new car I was not interested in having no trunk so I wanted to go with 1 10 for now, so I decided to invest in a decent quality sub and then latter down the road grab a decent to good quality amp. Clean power - What does this mean? I would be using 4 guage wire (recommended by the sony manual) if that helps.
  8. This woofer wired to 4ohm This amp Running in mono @ 4ohm Amp is 500 watt RMS, woofer is 400 RMS, am I going to blow my woofer or is this setup going to be safe?
