  1. ? only a few weeks after I bought some too, lol. Great stuff, love it!
  2. Somehow I feel like I am taking advantage of people if I am having them design me an enclosure "for" my vehicle (he takes vehicle specs and models it) and pay them nothing for their time. I designed my own box at first, and I know how to design a basic enclosure, but I don't know how to model it in the vehicle with resonant frequencies, proper listening angles, etc etc. I just wanted to see if that fee was in line with other designers and see if the difference would be big enough to warrant spending the money. Thank you guys for your opinions so far, I appreciate it all!
  3. Anyone have any experience with this company? He makes youtube videos under the name Hexibase, he seems to know his stuff. He charges $50 to design an enclosure for your particular vehicle, wondering if his quality is good before I spend the money.
  4. I got it from best buy actually, was like 10 bucks, bought some spray adhesive and went to town. Thanks for the advice bud. When I get some extra time and green I will buy supplies, design a box, and post the design up here BEFORE I start to build, lol.
  5. Honestly, I don't have enough experience to listen to it and say "there is the port noise" I am sure it is there, but I can't hear it. My amp is "supposed" to be pushing 500rms, but as the guys here have pointed out it is an xplod amp and probably not pushing that much even in bridged mode.
  6. idk if you care about the 32 hz tuning or not, but unless the math I posted is incorrect your current figures equate to a 30hz tune.
  7. Unless there is a problem with the math I provided your port should be 13.209590389186754 including the baffle or ~ 12.5 excluding the baffle.
  8. I am no guru, but I am assuming that you are using .75 mdf, I am also assuming that you are talking about the P2D415 woofers. Working off of those assumptions the math works out like this: 39 x 18 x 21 with .75mdf = 6.98242 cu ft. 6.98242 - sub displacement (0.066 cu ft x2) = 6.85042 cu ft. Port width and height of 3 and 16.5 with tuning of 32hz = 13.209590389186754 port length. all math done with: http://www.the12volt.com/caraudio/boxcalcs.asp
  9. 1 person says will 1 person says it won't damage, now my head is really asploded.
  10. Eh, looking at my box design vs the port calculators using a port area of ~ 15, I am seeing that I will have to pretty much scrap my box design for something more square so that I can wrap the port around. Currently my box is tilted in the back, and I am not real sure how to wrap the port around with the way it is designed right now. Thank you guys for all your help, next time I will try to make my design in sketchup and post it before building it so that I don't waste a whole sheet of mdf >< As far as damage to the sub goes, how would I keep that from happening until I get the time to make a whole new box? Do you think I will cause a whole lot of damage with the amp I am currently using, low end Sony Xplod XM2200GTX?
  11. It could damage it Shit, now I have to do something about it quickly. I was wondering, would it be feasible to take a router to the front of the box and cut the old port out, sand it down and put a new one in, of course backing the screws out that would be in the way?
  12. Good thing I posted this up, you don't really learn if you don't try, eh? Having the sub in this enclosure won't damage it right? Just won't sound as good as it could?
  13. Will do, thank you for the advice. Out of curiosity, what does having a small port area effect in terms of sound?
  14. The port is 7*1*6, I gave it the width and height as well as tuning frequency and it gave me the length, did I do something wrong?
  15. Maybe I am misunderstanding, but I thought that the port calculator handled all that? You give it 2 numbers and a frequency and it spits out a length? Is there more to it than this? Maybe sometime down the line I will remake the box, I will definitely make the tuning a bit lower, and the port a bit bigger, probably use a circular port.
  16. Does having a small port affect anything? As long as I use the port calculator and make the length correctly?
  17. Tuned to 40.5hz, my first box I decided to go with the manufacturer recommended tuning. As for the port, you mean basically flare it out?
  18. Well, as promised, I finished my box, here are the pictures: It sounds nice in my little celica Things to do: Try to clean up the port a bit Get better amp, the xplod is getting extremely hot Weld in supports to the seat to mount the box to, to help prevent theft, and movement Thank you guys for all of the help you have given me, I really appreciate it, wouldn't have gotten this far without you

  20. XM-2200GTX is the model of the amp, it shows that wired in mono it will push 500
  21. Will post pics tomorrow as I get sanding done and start to assemble.
  22. Part of my problem is with my current design 1 of the walls of the port is shared with the box, so if I were to try to make that interchangeable the port wouldn't really be sealed right imo, if i were to move the port over far enough to eliminate that problem then I am looking at a gaping hole in the baffle ><
