  1. i mean they hit hard, and they were under my budget, so yea... hopefully after i build the box and get the second amp on it i should be able to hit 130 on most songs... but i need to find a TL to use, there are like No db drags or anything around here. its sad
  2. got a hook up on some Type Rs and a second 9102D so yea...
  3. best Buy hook ups 2 Alpine Type Rs -195$ 1 kenwood KAC-9102D - 185$ so i am now running 2 type Rs off of my old KAC 9102D, once i sort out my situation with my 240SX i will be running Dual 9102Ds, one per sub, in a 2.5CUFT port box tuned to 32HZ. im hoping for a 130B on music. so, yea....i need more current
  4. I might be picking up a XXX [06 12"]. its going to kill my budget... but it is a XXX so ill live. my question is... will a Kenwood KAC-9102D be enough to make it loud? im doubting it, in which case is there something for under 2-300$ that will be enough to power it?
  5. might have a lead on a XXX 12" if i can squeeze it into the budget then fuck it, im going RE. but if i cant, cuz its going to be stretching it, and i have to also get the materials to build the box... then what would yall recommend?
  6. i ran a 8ga wire from the bat to the remoter turn on to make sure i had good power to it, and it still dropped. i didnt have enough light to read my DMM to get the actual voltage. but i will post it up tomorrow. more ideas? i want to try everything before i resort to a new alt, im trying to afford a XXX 12" so... id like to avoi teh alt this month.
  7. rcas are good, the kenwood has both channels. i just took a ride around, 30 minutes and a sound violation later...: i think the vlotage is dropping to low for the amp to operate. i ran it for about 6 minutes [late night tip all the way through almost twice] with it @ 30 on the dash [out of 35] and it cut out, so i pulled over and popped the trunk, the amp is cold...i mean COLD[its about 35 degrees out] and the magnets and basket of both subs were cold. i double check all my connections, move my secondary ground to the same place as my main, and it comes back on[the subs are blowing cold air, so i dont think overheating is a problem] it runs for a whopping 10 or so seconds before the entire thing dies. HU and everything reset, come back on and reset again. now seeing as i have had this problem before with the RF when i had both channels i decide to hit the highway and keep the RPMs up so i can get better voltage. im doing about 50 on the highway [automatic, so i have 2nd selected on the tree] it last for a bit longer, late night tip, and 2 bass tracks later it dies again, i pull over and hop out, same thing, it sits idling for a little bit, and comes back on, i had theHU @ 27 and it ran for about a minute and the amp shut off, and came back after about 30 seconds. SO i believe we can eliminate overheating and the amp going into protect, because ive had the amp do both... well my buddies 9102D do both. and it stays on, just the output is off. mine is shuttiong off completly, the power indicator goes out. and there are no loose connections i pulled and tugged on all the wires while it was up and running and it never shut off while i was messing with them. so im thinking that the voltage is dropping to low for it to operate, i know it is @ full blast @ idle, because the entire system dies. but when i had the RF in there @ full blast w/ both channels it wouldnt shut just the amp off, it would run til the entire system died. THEREFORE: i think that the kenwood is more touchy about its voltages, and doesnt like the voltage drops... thus i need a bigger alt and battery... any other ideas? P.S. the sound violation was @ 11:03, the sound curfews go into effect @ 11, i didnt realize what time it was, and i had the HU @ 25 and was messing with wires when the cop rolled by... so yea... im prolly fighting this one 2, ive gotten 5 of the other 7 dropped, so im getting good @ it.
  8. its a chevy celebrity, trunk. and its barely warm to the touch, im gonna go drive it and see if i can figure it out. but any got anyone got any ideas, i have 2GA wiring running back, and a solid body ground, sanded off, etc. i think my RCas my be going out on me, so im going to go check on that.
  9. I just swapped my dieing RF 8002 w/ a Kenwood KAC 9102D, should be about 300W mor because my RF was down to one channel. so probelm 1, i dont feel the bass as much, i dont have access to a Mic so i cant tell if it is as loud, but it doesnt seem like it, im thinking it is because of the sub sonic filter @ 25Z, the RF didnt have one. problem 2)the amp is cutting in and out of me. at first it was the secondary ground [lil screw to the left of the RCAs labeled GND] hooked that up and its all good. going down the highway to day it cuts off, comes back on a couple minutes later, cuts off, comes back on. i couldnt associate it with any certain movement or anything... im @ a complete loss... any ideas?
  10. im definatly leaning towards the Type Rs, mainly cuz my buddies store wont stock the CVXs for a while.
  11. that what i was kinda thikning, more power for about 200$ [hook ups ftw] my buddies store doesnt stock the CVX's it looks like... how would the CVRs compare to the Alpine type Rs?
  12. so you think a single 18" would bump more around 28-40hz then dual 12"s? and what about the amps? any one used both of them?
  13. Im new here, but ive been working on car audio for about 3 years. Im building a new system for my 240SX, which will be running this weekend for the first time in 2 months, mad engine problems, but thats another story. so first, heres my current system: 2 Memphis M1 1 Rockford Fosgate P8002[im down to 1 channel, the amp is crapping out on me] and a prefabbed bandpass box, tuned to 40hz i didnt have the time to custom build a box until recently, and for once i have time and a lil money to spend. so im going to do the 240SX big time... well not to big. my budget is 2-300$ subs and 3-400$ amp. i have 2 setups im looking @: 2x Alpine Type R 1x Hifonics BXI2006D OR 2x Kicker CVX 1x Kicker 1500.1 both will be custom MDF/fiberglass box now i can get the kicker stuff from a buddy @ circuit city for cheap, and there a little bit above my price but i can swing it. my question, which is going to be louder? im looking for nasty make you wanna shit your self bass.... well as close to that as i can get w/ 2 12"s. The SX is a hatch so that will help some. but i want yalls opinions on these two setups, or ideas about others around my price range. thanks in advance for your time!
