  1. Ok so I could possibly be getting a new truck, well new to me anyways. I don't remember the year, but its some where around '90 or '91. It's a Ford 150 Reg. cab. It has the staight 6 in it, which is ok...wouldn't plan on doin any towing or hauling really. It has one small problem, that the gas gauge doesn't work, possibly an easy fix. I dove this thing back around christmas, it runs great. Had good acceleration, trans shifted smoothly. Only complaint is the seat was freakin uncomfortble. Possibly do a bucket seat swap. Oh and the best part is the price....FREE. Only cause it belongs to my mom. Just found out she has something in both hands and can no longer drive. But to be honest I don't know if I want this truck or not. For one I would have to travel 6 hours just to get it, well more like 12 cause thats how long it takes grey hound to get there from here. So thats 18 hours of travel time, and I would only have one day to do it in. Possibly two. Should I accept thsi truck from my mom or should I just tell her to sell it?

  2. Normally I wouldn't post this but I do find it to be true, I have noticed this a couple times but always was in a hurry so I never thought about it. Has anyone else noticed this?

CHEATING at the gas pumps (PRINT OUT YOUR RECEIPTS!!!)

This email was sent by the LA fire captain.

This is true. It happened to them three weeks ago somewhere in Pomona on our

way to Pechanga. The pump should have totaled @ $68.00 (and change). When

the receipt was printed, and she checked it was $ 77.00 (and change).

She got mad, went inside the store, asked for a calculator and let them do

the math. They refunded her. she told them that if they cheat, they had

better make it right. Normally, her husband would skip printing the receipt.

    Not her

We saw on the news the other night that this is

    happening everywhere.

Brian pumped exactly one gallon of gas. The price did not match the cost of

one gallon. It was higher.. He went inside and complained, got a refund.

There is also a number on each pump that you can call and complain.

This is a true story, so read it carefully.

I stopped at a BP gas station in GA. My truck's gas gauge was on 1/4 of a

tank. I use the mid-grade, which was priced at $3.71 per gallon. When my

tank is at this point, it takes somewhere around 14 gallons to fill it up.

When the pump showed 14 gallons had been pumped, I began to slow it down.

Then, to my surprise, it went to 15, then 16. I even looked under my truck

to see if it was being spilled. It was not.

Then it showed 17 gallons on the pump. It stopped at 18 gallons. This was

very strange to me, since my truck has only an 18 gallon tank. I went on my

way a little confused, then on the evening news I heard a report that 1 out

of 4 gas stations had calibrated their pumps to show more gas had been

pumped than a person actually got.

Here is how to check a pump to see if you are getting the right amount:

Whichever grade you are using, put EXACTLY 10 GALLONS in your tank, then

look at the dollar amount. If the dollar amount is not EXACTLY 10 times the

price of the fuel you have chosen, then the pumps are rigged.

In my case, as I said, the mid-grade was $3.71 9/10 per gallon; my dollar

amount for 10 gallons should have been $37.19. I wish I had checked the

pump. It doesn't matter where you pump gas please check the 10 gallon price.

If you do find a station that is cheating, contact the state Agriculture

Department, and direct your comments to the Commissioner the info is on the

    gas pumps.

Please don't delete this until you have sent it to all people in your

address book. We need to put a stop to this outrageous cheating of

customers. The gas companies are making enough profits at honest rates.

This is the same thing as the butcher with his finger on the scale the

company has nothing to do with the station owner's practices. Yes the big

oil is making big bucks but the dishonest guy will still be dishonest

  3. I had a couple ideas running around in my head past few days, so tonight I decided that I would try and use photoshop and see if I can't come close to what I had in my mind. The first idea was to turn a 2011 Suburban into a 2 door, kind of like an old fullsize Blazer or something. The second was to cut the rear roof section off a Ford Escape, no real reason I just sorta visioned it as a cool open air cruiser. I'll admit my skills are not that good and could these could use more work, but I like how they look and who knows I may add more pics later when I get more ideas. Anyways have a look.

btw I did not create the back ground.

  4. Here is a quick run down of models I have built, or at least I can remember.

'78 Mustang-no mods, but blew it up with a bunch of firecrackers

'90 Chevy stepside-chop top, body drop and horrible flame paint job

'57 Chevy Bel-Air-cut roof off, made into a roadster, modified '58 Impala front clip to replace the orginal front clip. Made it lay frame.

'95 GMC Sonoma Reg. cab-LS motor from '00 Trans am kit, working audio system, lowered suspension

there are a few others, but my brain has gone to bed....so I must follow

  5. i did a couple when i was in and just after graduating high school...Ford Galaxie with Hydraulics...made from pen springs and other bits...I also did a F150 extended cab with some big wheels off of a larger scale kit...tucked them and layed it on frame...lol...I kept it on my desk at work when I was at a Collections company...lots of coworkers would compliment me on it..lol

it was cool to try to make things look like customized cars/trucks when there isnt much to work with...i can imagine in a contest for them people are probably making widebody kits and all kinds of stuff from scratch with bondo/fiberglass...good luck and make sure to post pics

It is fun to make something from practically nothing. I know other people who wll be entering this contest have more experience and such, but I'm doing it just cause can. I like what ya did with the F150, I bet it looked nice. If ya got a pic of it, post it...would love to see it. I will post pics of the build when I get it started. I dunno if I treat it like a build log for system or just show ya guys the final product. I'm not sure what all I'm going to do tho. I will take any ideas you guys have on paint and such into consideration.

  6. Thats cool, I built a few Implalas before only one of which was a lowrider. The others were mild custom or hot roded. Actually I can real every model I built and what I did to them. One I had built in a working audio system (if you want to call it that. But I took a pair of cheap ear buds and place them in a '95 Sonoma, then made a trim panel to make it look like there was an enclosure behind the seats. That was back in 96 when I was just getting into car audio. Wasn't too loud, but I think I was going more for the look than anything. I had some crazy ideas back then.

  7. Did anyone build models as kids, or maybe still do? I know I was building then like crazy when I was younger, but never left them alone. I would find some way to modify the kits so I would have something unique. Wish I still had them, my favorite one was a '90 Chevy Stepside that had a chop top and was body dropped. That was back when I was maybe 12, so no digital camera or that sorta thing. Hell I think my computer then was a freaking 386 or slower lol. But yeah, seems like every week I would have a new model to build even if I was still working on another one. It wasn't uncommon for me to take parts from two kits and make one model. The other day I decided to get back into building models just for fun. I haven't found any place near by that sells them, but I have found a site that sells models. Also I ran across a contest for model builders, I am going to enter just for the fun of it. You can find the contest at www.staceydavid.com. I forget the prizes and that stuff. I have decided to do a 1970 Mustang, but combine it with a 2010 Shelby Mustang. Should be interesting to see what comes out of combing a new and old Stang.

  8. Ok so I'm currently tryin out the new Photoshop CS6 beta extended. This version is much nicer and simpler to use than CS5 and has some cool new features. Lots of vids of those features on youtube, check them out if you want to know more. My fav. thing on here is the 3D tool. I just did a quick mod of a SMD logo I found. I was just bored so I figured wth....if I over stepped a boundery or something I am sorry. I just think its kinda cool. Let me know what ya think of it.

  9. While checking messeges on FB, I ran across a link my aunt had posted bout my cousin's band. A really cool thing had happened. They have signed with record label and putting out a debut album April 10th! The band's name is Hollows. I really have no idea how to describe their sound. Really you would have to listen, its a group of four girls and one guy. I'll post a link to the record label where you guys can hear them. http://troubleinmind...ds/hollows.html so have a listen and tell me what ya think. I'm just proud of my cousin cause I know she has worked her ass off to get to where she is today.

  10. Naw, I didn't get to move back to the STL. I just moved closer to work, which today is my 1 year anniversary there. That is a nice tv, is it not? lol. Those Hifonics subs are just sitting there. I am looking for a reciver for the place tho. Even tho I have an end unit, I don't have the heat on very high even tho its like 35 outside. Still on the look out for stuff to put in there. For only 425 a month, ya really can't beat that, if I had to guess I'd say this place is around 800sq ft total. Maybe a little less.
