  1. I live in mesa, az. Far as hell from avondale though..Ummmm if you go by ASU on the weekends there are usually a SHIT load of people. Not really familiar with the avondale area.

Cool thanks man. I was planning on starting down by the universities, it's only 20-30 minutes away from my apartment. I'm scared though :peepwall: Pheonix is HUGE compared

    to albuquerque...i need a GPS...

Oh if you couldn't already tell, i'm only 17 lol. I've been living on my own, but not in a different city... :o

Yea if you go down by ASU on weekends things are really poppin. Just be careful of cops (lots of them). If you get a GPS it will make things alot easier on ya. If you ever want some help with anything just PM me and ill give you my number or something. :good:

    Word man thanks. Sounds good

  2. I'm starting school in Avendale, Arizona at UTI, and I don't have enough money saved to cover very much time in my new apartment, I need a job FAST. UTI has a job assistance program thing, and the best buy right here is hiring installation techs. Yes, I am MECP certified, but other than that, i'm not sure what to expect in the interview and stuff? Anyone work as an installer at a place like this? any interview tips or like, what to expect??? I REALLY need this job lol...

  3. Cmon do you really believe it puts out 1700 "decent" watts RMS? for 180 bucks? ><

Absolutely. I've seen DTRs on the oscope. Soundstream's products are CEA compliant. They won't clear them if the "1700RMS" is clipped. I DO NOT HAVE LOW VOLTAGE. Where did u guys get that? i have a 140 amp alternator, 0 awg big 3, and the battery is not deep cycle but it isn't stock. It has a much higher CCA. The voltage didn't drop at all..

**edit, like i said before, the amp was NEVER hot to the touch. Now i know that is not any type of accurate indication, but with what you guys are saying, if it was hot enough to blow the power supply or short some solder joints etc... You'd think the heat sink would be hot too.

  4. where did you acquire this "tone" that you were playing? i am not sure if you are aware, but most songs dont get past -4Db for the sub-notes that they play. if i play a 50 hz 0Db tone anywhere above 3/4 of my volume, my voltage quickly diminishes to about 12 volts flat, probably because at that point the amp is drawing massive amounts of current and killing my voltage. if it is the power supply that is blown, my guess is you playing a constant tone for 20 seconds without the proper electrical to back it up dropped the voltage QUICK. i have a 200a alt, 2 hc800's, and a deka 9a31 and if i clip over the 2k my amp is rated to do at 4ohm, yeah my voltage goes from 14.5 to 12 or sometimes even lower, depending on how long i play the tone.

    hope this post helped

The tone was 50hz 0db, But i do have the electrical to back it up... Even if the voltage dropped, the amp has low voltage protect. There's no reason it should have blown the power supply...

  5. loudest daily car is 4 re 15's and soundstream 15 000d doing 153 music and 158 burp subs he payed 3k on special deal from a shop dealer cost and amp soundstream gave him

loudest spl car a 170 in a volvo wagon

*well suposidly loudest car on music and i sat in it..was hooked for 30min cant wait to do a 150 myself..*

Well good luck to you man. I hope you can figure out the funding and stuff to make it happen.

  7. put this way..a single 15" sub box..built for you is $500..tune an amp is $50..

i ended up geting soundstreams prefab box for the splx it dose good on high notes 40hz and up but thats all i want from this setup..normally i build box's but i tend to not mesure right and strugled build in trunk with the room i have lol plus drinking dont help..but i wanna do a wall one day..so far 30grand just for subs n amps..

but ill buy it as cheap as possible or try sponsor

Ya, maybe you'll have a good shot at a sponaor or something because of your situation, like, there can't be that many australians with SPL setups, or really high end installations, if it's THAT expensive..

  8. thank you osamio i didnt even think to look on discount tire. found one that is damn close to the same design and is a hell of a lot cheaper. it is a different brand, but hell for the price i bought 2 spares. i kno my girl will be happy tomorrow morning when i tell her i ordered her some new rims. here are the ones i ordered. pic is strait off the discount tire site. next investment... driving lessons for da woman. lol jkjk, but she better take care of these ones.

edit: and to answer the questions about warrenty, i called up the 800 number from the site and sent them an email with the pics in the first post andthey said they wouldnt warrenty the shit due to customer abuse. ill have to check on the brand tomorro as the car is still at the shop missing a wheel.

:drink40: I love discount, and they WILL warranty shit for a price, but it's worth it, I taco-ed my rim hitting a 4x4 on the freeway, and it was covered by my extended warranty. They also do free rotation/torque/air pressure monitor servicing.

  9. 200!?!?!

shit in aus i got it for 700 AND that was cheap as possible..supose shipping was more and less companys here ect

Shit! you had to pay $700?? for the DTR 1700 ??

    http://www.amazon.com/Soundstream-DTR1-1700-MonoBlock-D-Tower-Amplifier/dp/B002494IW6/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&s=automotive&qid=1296550048&sr=8-3

    ^^ that one??

DAMN man, wait, 700 US dollars? or pounds? or do you guys have your own money? sorry if that's a stupid ass question...

  10. Wait so if I have the Money get the DMM?? or the O-Scope?? And which would b the one if I don't have te money?? And so in my case the reason I'm clipping is because I dot have the required electrical upgrades right?

The clipping is because the gain can't be turned max, it makes a dirty signal.

So how do I make a clean signal?? By not turning it max?? And what if I want more bass?? Do I just turn the gain up on the amp instead of the knob??

The gain will NOT give you "more bass" again, it isn't a volume knob. It is designed to MATCH the output of your headunit, to the input of your amp. That is, If your head unit puts out 2v, your gain should be set to 2v. That way, low volume on the HU = low volume on subs, full volume on HU = full volume on subs. It keeps it proportional. All you will accomplish by MAXING the gain knob, is reaching full volume on your subs TOO EARLY, and sending fat squares to the subs at full HU volume. You need to look into properly setting your gain, and If you can't get loud enough, you need more power

  11. i just got the same amp :clapping: pushing my splx 15 and it gose hard for what it is..

but yeh i had the lil wonder amp 1700d..and it blew without any gain tuning it was sit right at bottom and just head unit going up it blew something before something else..makeing the sub pop and i was fumeing but soundstream gave me the DTR (supose to be better)

maybe same thing happend mine lastest 15 seconds on music BUT i had a shop doin it (with me watching) that way always warenty :yahoo:

That is EXACTLY what happened, blew for no reason. about 30 seconds into a song... And i know right? I love these amps! 1700 RMS for $200 :drink40:

I'm waiting on warranty info/repair status, but it should be warrantied. I didn't do anything wrong, and as for the shop install thing, I'm MECP certified, so if the local shop counts for the warranty, i should too :P

  12. Thinkin about going into the army, but I wanted some peoples stories or experiences about how they like it or if you knew someone you know that's close to you. None of this, "My friends cousins uncle Bob said..."

The airforce recruiter called me over summer last year because I scores pretty good on the ASVAB.

Which I think would be my better choice, but they have a very strict body weight and height limit.

I'm about 5'10 or so and weigh around 205.

And according to the airforce I need to be around 180 at the maximum.

But the army goes by the physical side of it, like courses I guess and tests for you body fat %

This is me. I can see myself getting to 180 it's just a matter of time to get there. I have to cut a lot of muscle to get there.

This picture was taken around last year in march I think

You have to really start with what you want to get out of the military. Unless you plan to serve until you retire, you should look at it as an oppurtunity to learn skills that can transfer to civilian jobs later in life. Good scores on the ASVAB is DEFINETLY the place to start. That really opens the door to any MOS in the army, and i'm sure it's similar in other branches. The army's PT tests are mostly endurance and strength tests. (run X miles, Lift X pounds) There are some big guys in the army, and tiny sticks like me. The army has a wide range of MOS's, each have different physical requirments, for example... 19k/19d (army cav, M1 abrams crewman), you have to be able to lift 60lbs, because you would have to lift shells and 50 cals daily. The 152x MOS, (apache long bow crewman) require recruits UNDER a certain height, in order to meet space constraints on the door guns.

The airforce on the other hand, has very specific build requirements for pilots/crewman... but the truth is, most jobs in the airforce are NOT as pilots. It's all stuff your recruiter will give u info on.

    I'd start with this:

    1. Decide what you want to get out of or learn from the military

    2. Figure out which branch offers you the best opportunity

    3. Get the ASVAB score you need to get a better chance of getting the job you want.

    4. Talk to a recruiter from the branch you decide on.

Keep some things in mind, like, the army/marines NEED soldiers. IT will take a lot for them to turn you away...at the worst, you will have to work your ass a little harder in basic, to avoid getting recycled. OH, and ALWAYS GET PROMISES FROM RECRUTIERS IN WRITING :P

  13. I can beat all you guys. Hands down too.

I was at lunch and i told my friend i was selling my sub, he has heard the system and knows some about audio but nothing about what we do.

Anyway, someone next to us over heard and asked me "how many ohms does it have left?" I looked at him like :shok: and he said "all you do is hook up a volt meter to the basket and it tells you how many ohms you have left". I told him voltmeters don't read resistance, his response was "ohms you idiot not resistance".

    I just walked away.

I think i'd cry. no, I KNOW i would cry....from frustration with his stupidity.....
