  1. Oh and maybe try the box calculator on 12 volt.com I like that one. http://www.the12volt.com/caraudio/boxcalcs.asp
  2. So I take it ether the box is like 3.5 cubes? That should be good, I put my w3v3 in in my friends 06 taurus, worked for him in about 3.7 before sub displacement. But personally I'd go a little more port area if possible like 13" per cube, especially if firing into your cabin, I personally found port noise more noticeable, in my car anyways. I know jl is very picky on boxes. But it may work good in your car, different acoustical properties.
  3. Maybe I'm wrong, correct of so, but maybe the volt input sensitivity is set high on the amp? So the bass starts loud and gets louder... My bass reaches full force a few numbers on my hu after my mids and highs do.
  4. About 2 years ago I had 2 jl w3v3 12s in about 4.2 cubes with 56 inches of port tuned to 30 hz in an 04 monte carlo firing inward ran off 1000 rms. It sounded amazing, and really killed the lows for what they are and the power. But it did lack quite a bit on the hard hitting 45-55 or so hz. But it did fine for me. I also had them in another enclosure tuned to 34 and that seemed to be really well balanced sounding. All facing in, it definitely sounds different then rear firing the subs, you may or may not like it. Just 2¢, hoped it helped a little.
  5. I have this problem now, kind of. no matter what volume my hu is my bass can stay the same, not all the time though, but in my case it's my remote bass knob that's booboo'd. And when I'm wanging it the knob rattles and jumps a bit and that caused like a short or something in the box.
  6. Ok my 2 friends are looking into addictive audio, 2 excruci8 off 900rms daily, and 2 12 v3 off 3500 daily. Any one have any personal experiences or knowledge on the quality and durable of these subs? Any info put input is appreciated.
  7. Yeah i saw yours herby, thats what made me to go for the 15 xls in the first place. I figured as much, the xls will cost me 230$ more than the lvl 5, thought maybe a better/better box would make a big enougj difference. I was thinking 12s but thats all i ever had, thought id go for 1 or 2 15s.
  8. What would do better off 3500rms, with 7^ft to work with, 1 15" lvl 5 or 2 15" xl? It will be in a trunk of a monte carlo.
  9. Ok, well these are the lvl xl subs then, i take it? Thats what its sounding like to me. Thats what im working on here soon, 2 15 xl ran off a crescendo 3kwp. Rockford does make amps thatll easily push a pair of these. The t2500 does their rms plus, or their higher amps. Ive seen people push them with sundown audio saz3500/4500, atomic, american bass vfl400.2, vfl500.1, stetsoms, cactus audio just a few brands. Depends whats your price. And youd have to upgrade your alt for any of these amps, or to supply correct power to any amp thats gonna push those subs. The dc xl is between the lvl 4 and 5, rated rms of 1500 each, your looking at over 300 amp current draw atleast.
  10. Im not too sure on the power. i guess itll depend on what the alt and batteries can support, i already have one vmax charge tank and was going to add another one. but i was looking at 3-4krms and try to build up my electrical system to support it.
  11. Hey guys, im new on this forum. But heard its great for dc nutthuggers, lol. So i need help from the dc users out there. I have a 2004 monte carlo. And i have around 7.5cu/ft of internal volume to work with after port disp. Im looking for a solid daily driver groundpounder setup and i will take it to some local shows playing music. Im not sure how many subs of what size and of what lvl to get. And what size enclosure to what tuning would be good. As for the power not sure what amp ill be getting depends on subs i guess, amd i will be using aroind a 180/200a alt with a yellow top up front and a pair of vmax(1500 as i already have 1). So any ideas and suggestions will be appreciated. Thank you.
