dont wet sand, and follow instructions on the wenol tube, they are small enough that i wouldnt use a buffer. just some elbow grease
Okay, so just scrub them down with the steel wool then? And then hand polish with the wenol? Thanks for help.
-
Anybody?
I'd really appreciate some input on this! Thank ya!
-
I recently made a set of bus burs for my new front battery bank, and I was just wondering if anyone has any tips on polishing them?
I got steel wool, 1000 grit wet/dry paper, rubbing compound, and some Wenol all purpose metal polish.
I was told I just need to hit them with the steel wool, and then polish them up. So, is that it? Is there anything else, should I use a buffer, of just do it by hand? Do I let the polish dry, then buff it out? And what about wet sanding them, is that good a or bad idea?
All help is appreciated. Here are some pics of said bus bars...
Thanks again for your help!

Hmm, I think each amp would be seing .25 that way. But hey, with the maxx link, it just may still do it....
Let us know how it turns out.
But remember, if you do try it, your risking something getting fried. So is the risk worth the reward?
Btw if it were me, I'd probably try it too. I'd just be extra super careful.
And IMHO I believe they will protect. But hey, I wish you luck!

Trade for 4 bnib Skar vvx 15's?
-
Thanks guys, I really appreciate all your help!
I'll post up a new thread with pics and what not as soon as I get started making them.
But first, I gotta get a new front batt trey built first so I'll know exact dimensions.
Thanks again guys!
-
Hell yeah man, thanks! That is exactly what I was looking for!
-
Yeah you can use a high or low speed, aluminium (way we spell it here ) is a soft metal so it doesnt matter,
same with using a lubricant, doesnt really matter since its alu but can give you a better finish on the hole, less wear on drill bits too
But like they said, drill press and clamps pretty much.
Cool, thanks guys!
And what about drill bits? Are there a particular kind of bits I need to use?
-
Okay cool thanks. Dad's got a drill press I can use.
But where can I get some thicker aluminum? I got the thickest they had at Lows yesterday
-
Okay, so I picked up some aluminum yesterday, and I wanna try to make some bus bars for my front batts. My plan is to move my rear batt to the front, and connect the two with bus bars. Then it will be easier to run wire to the rear bank.
My question is, what is best to drill it with? And, what should I use to polish it up? And, did I get the right aluminum? It's 1/4" x 1", is that thick enough?
Thanks fellas
EDIT:
Here are some pics of the finished product.
I'm happy with the way they turned out. Thanks guys!

But like N8 said, what's she clamp at?

Hey peeps, got an idea, so I wanted to see if I could find some solo x 12's to try out in the box I have for the L5's.
Please let me know if you have, or know of anything. I'd prefer the 07 models, but it doesn't really matter, as they will most likely be re-coned anyway. Thanks in advance!
-
will be ordering 2 MORE SKAR Audio D2 VVX 15's, building another box 8.5-9 cubes w/4 6" aeros and lower tuning to be crazy stupid, nasty louder than I am now, stay tuned folks TEAM SKAR!
Tuned in!
I guess we both will be running 4 Skar 15's... Cool!
Can't wait to see what's in store!

Will, thank you so much for sharing your experience!
I didn't get to make it again this year, but thanks to you, I still feel like I was there!
Thanks again!
Oh and btw, I really like those Cowboy earrings! I think this will be our year! Go Dallas!!!!

Sexy, I wish I could of gone
Me too...

Bump
I still got this box, and I'm considering just keeping it, cause it is a beast!
I can't help but wonder how three solo x 12's would do in it, off my 5K...
If someone wants it, you better buy it before I start collecting solo x's......
-
Or I could run the amp safe and underpower 6 subs rather than risk killing the amp and over powering 4 subs, I
Sounds like your mind is already made up....
I personally would run the 4 at .5, but that's just me....
Good luck and let us know how it all plays out!
-
yes you would. Its easier to replace it. 60 bucks for a hard drive 50 bucks for a dvd drive. 100 bucks for windows or a brand new netbook or tablet for 300.
Gotcha. Yeah, I can get him the exact same one he had BNIB for about $220 tax and all. Probably stupid not to just do that.
Thanks guys!

you can get a external drive of ebay
http://www.ebay.com/...=item231ad3d241
and a new hard drive for $50 or more .
have to find or buy the windows software for it,
but by the time u rip it all apart ..and replace it all and install the software..prob easier to just buy new one ad\nd sell that one for parts
Hmm, well I was actually gonna buy an external HD for him anyway. What if I got him that dvd drive, and pick up a 1tb ext. HD. Would that work? Or would I still need to replace the internal HD for windows to run from??? Sorry guys, I am a semi stupid when it comes to this stuff..... But hey I'm learning! That's why I'd kinda like to fix this. I can easily just buy another netbook, they are stoopid cheap now. But I'd like to learn a thing or two, if I can.....
Thanks again for the replies and suggestions!
-
Well its pretty well shot. Does it make any noises? The thing with netbooks is that you dont have a cd rom to try to reload it. What kind of disk drive is in it?
No, it doesn't really make any noise, it's pretty quiet. And I guess it's your typical Netbook, w/ 120g HD, and single core AMD processor. No cd or dvd rom
does it still have warranty?
No, it just ran out in January, FML!!!
most likely destroyed the hard drive..u would need external dvd drive to install windows back on..i've done it .its a pain to rip aprart and put a new hard drive in
That's kinda what I was thinking. And since I don't have an external dvd drive, I'm probably gonna be better off to just buy him a new netbook, huh?
Thanks for the help guys!

Well my 13 yr old son has a ASUS Netbook, and the other day, he dropped it on the hardwood floor. Now it wont load windows, when you try to start it, it just goes to a blank screen. It will let me run the memory diag. tool, but it won't show me the results, since it won't load windows, and the results are given after restart.
I'm no computer expert, and I have never worked on anything but a tower. But I'd really like to try to fix this before just running out and buying a new one.
I tent to think there is something wrong with the hard drive now, but it could be something else.
So, does anyone know where to start?
Thanks for any help, I appreciate it guys!

Dont got the money for itI think you should try it mario..
Yeah right, MarioB has all the money....
Tuned in for results!
