  1. Don't really understand the 5K #'s at all. Why did the voltage go so low on the un-certified? And the output dropped as well?

6K + on certified, but why would the un-certified get lower?

I am running tests back to back with very little time for the batteries to recover. That is why the drop down to 13.5 on the uncertified test. Ideally I would let the batteries sit for a few minutes between each test, but with so little time and so many tests to run, I just cant.

I totally get that, but why then was the 7.5's uncertified #'s higher, even though the voltage was lower?

Actually, every amp I've seen tested has gotten more power from un-certified mode.

I'm not really concerned with the voltage as much as I am the output #'s. That wasn't that much voltage drop..

Just don't see how the "un-certified" mode would get weaker. And on this amp only.

Not trying to argue or start shit, just really don't understand those results.

I think that # should be over 6K, if the certified is over 6K. See what I'm getting at?

  2. When you say "custom" does that mean just appearance? Or did the T/S parameters change too?

Well, I just meant the appearance. I guess the caps could have changed things a tiny little bit, but I highly doubt it.

They (dust caps) are very light, and simply glued on top of the original inverted caps.

Nothing else was touched, coil cone and suspension are all the same.

So I wouldn't think they would make any difference, other than looking better ;)

Question. What kind of amp is that you are using on them? Is that an old school Kicker? Just curious!

  3. Hey Steve, not sure if your aware, but Saturday night they had a "best of" episode, where they made a top 20 out of everything that has aired so far. You made #5 on this list, (ahead of the electric band)! Congrats again! If you didn't catch it, I'm sure it will re-air soon. The episode is called "Top 20".

But #5 overall is awesome!!!! Again congrats!!!

nope i had no idea :D i seen it so many times, that i don't even stop to watch when it's on anymore :D

the episode is called "best of" and not "power junkies" for that one?

Yes sir! Actually it's just called "Top 20". It was a countdown of the best of everything shown so far. You made #5, which was awesome! But I still don't understand why they only gave you #4 on the "Power Junkies" episode, then put you ahead of the Electric band on the "Top 20". The electric band guys only made #8 on the "Top 20" show, which to me, just proves beyond a doubt that you sir, should have been #1 on the "Power Junkies" episode.

  4. Lookin' good man!

And welcome to the forum ;)

those were yours if you didn't notice lol

Ha ha yeah I thought so! Hell yeah!

Dylan it get low for now

Man I was surprised to hear that. They really should love the low notes, according to their spec numbers.

Let me know if you guys aren't happy and I'll try to help you figure it out!

But it looks like they are working pretty good in the vid?

  5. Glue only or did you nail/staple or screw it as well?

Only glue. I had pocket holes drilled, but wasn't getting the screws to bite and grab like I needed them to so I scrapped that idea and just glued.

Looks like I'll probly be trying to retrofit some screws back into the baffle now.

Plus some other things to strengthen it.

In the future, if I ever have another angled baffle, I'll be designing it with more stability then just a glue joint.

I figured a glued double baffle would be sufficient, but I clearly underestimated what 5000W of DC power can do...

    ;)

Ahh thats the issue. Glue by itself is not quite enough. Even brad nails are better that nothing. But you want something to help hold it. Another option when you cant use screws is those little wood dials that you drill for and insert. That at least gives some support. But if it were me I'd add some steel ;)

  7. I swear in my head I said high 20s lol but he cares for 35hz + too. Do you guys mean, since the fs is so low that he can tune lower and still have a flat response?

Basically yes that's it. Tune low with plenty of space, and the proper port area per foot, and your friend should be happy as could be!

Also when you do get it straight please put up a vid of them in action!

All the time I had them and I never got to see or hear them do work...
