Manufacturers aren't stupid, they know that people are going to blatantly disregard the ratings and do what they want anyway. It wouldn't be smart to give a sub a rating that it will actually handle, because then people are going to disregard that and give it even more power and then they will really have problems and want to blame the manufacturer.

Well I thought I knew a lot about car audio ever since I started doing installs, in the mid to late 90's. However, I only knew the basics, wasn't near as smart as I thought I was.

I didn't really learn much until I found SMD, back in 2009. That's when I started reading, and learning, and now have absolute confidence in my ability and knowledge!

i believe the voltage is controlled at the alt, at the regulator......not the PCM.

I seen in the video where they also included an adjustable voltage boost module, that is kick-ass!

Got my Mechman 270a alternator today Here is just a few pics of it. I might put it in next week and when i do, you know i will take pics and post a video. Right now, my stock alt charges @ 13.1-13.4v and that is weak. It is 180a stock so i will give it credit for that Anyway, this one should charge @ 15.2 cold and 14.9 hot. It benched @ 278a.

Looks awesome! I can't wait to get a Mechman alt on my ride!

One question though. Isn't your voltage controlled by the pcm? Just curious if it came with a voltage module, since you said your car only charges @ 13.1-13.4, and this alt would run at a higher voltage?

Anyway, that is a really nice looking alt, with really nice output, should make for a stout setup along with what you already have!

I say close down the shop. It all goes back to the owner, for having guys like that as employees. I bet if shops start getting shut down, dumb asses like these will become fewer. And bosses will be more about hiring good help, instead of the cheapest labor they can find...

The problem is you are running two 4g power wires from one 4g power wire. You need to run a 0g from the batt. to the dist. block, then the two 4g will be fine.

You are starving the sub amp for power, causing that line to heat up. Try it, and see if I'm right.

So does that mean 4 of them for $105 total, or $105 each, and there are 4 of them available?
