Is There any difference? is it better to port in the middle so each sub gets the same air flow?
-
Are you not satisfied with the AQs?
i didnt even get them yet. i ordered them today and i was comparing alpine better spl or sq. i like loud low bass daily driver and was curious
-
I had 2 r's in my last setup, and got 2 hdc3's and was wondering if the r's are more of an sq, or spl sub?
-
Ok, All you guys are telling me to face them towards the cabin....Ok, im probley not going to do that because i have people in my backseat all the time. can someone agree with me that it will be ALOT more intense on your back as oppose to facing them to the rear? That the reason why im not doing it. im not "think headed" i have reasons to back it up...
even me being a basshead would want to sit in the back seat of my car if they were facing me.. i would get so annoyed by them
-
how am i being a dick, im asking for advice on this question...
-
Let me ask you this. If you think pressure is going to be building up when your seats are up, what do you think is gonna happen when you fire them into your trunk? The soundeaves will either stay in your trunk or find their way out if the car. Plus, you're gonna have an immense amount of trunk rattle.
x2 because there will always be pressure in your trunk, might as well fire them in your direction instead of the back of the trunk. I found that subs sound much better firing into a cabin than the trunk. and the AQs can take a little pressure from your seats without breaking a sweat. thats what theyre made for
I would do that if my back seats stayed down all the time, and as i said before.... i like to have people in the car, in the backseat, and friends who love bass. its ALOT more intense on the back seats with the Subwoofer drivers right there vibrating the fuck out of the seats which gets annoying after a minute rather then bass bouncing off the back of my trunk and not so much direct vibrations. if i was the only one in my car and kept the seats down, i would do it in a heartbeat
-
then what is the question?
can you read?
how about you lose the attitude when asking for help jack ass.
I did something before with no problems so I will ask if I can do it? Makes a lot of sense
Ok, let me Break It Down For You...
BACKGROUND INFO: "Im Planning On Putting (2) 12" HDC3's In My Trunk Facing The Rear. My Seats Go down, and stay down about 70% of the time"
QUESTION:" Is it bad to block off almost all entrances from the my trunk to the cabin".... "should i give them a little room or what? "
Hope that Helps

i will have more air for the subs to breath like 5 cubes unlike >1. i like to have people in the car, in the backseat, and friends who love bass. its ALOT more intense on the back seats with the drivers right there vibrating the fuck out of the seats rather then bass bouncing off the back of my trunk and not so much direct vibrations

run 12's
i am... its in the description

Fire your subs and port into the cabin. It'll sound ALOT better.
im facing them to the rear. my back seats go up 30% of the time and when there up there will be pressure building up betwwen the port and the back of my seats.. cant have that
-
hey, Im Planning On Putting (2) 12" HDC3's In My Trunk Facing The Rear. My Seats Go down, and stay down about 70% of the time. is it bad to block off almost all entrances from the my trunk to the cabin. Im not trying to seal it up but my box will be big enough to cover the huge hole from my cabin to my trunk.
In my previous setup i did the same with 2 12" type R's and nothing bad happened?
should i give them a little room or what?
-
Yeah, you can. Its what I do with those ones.
are they big enough to fit kollosos 1/0 oversized wire in them?
-
I was looking for some cheap ring terminals and i came upon these...
http://darvex.com/store/pc/20-Stinger-0-Gauge-Ring-Terminals-22p343.htm
Can you solder these since there crimp ring terminals?
also can they candle Knu Kollosos 1/0 oversized wire because most ring terminals on ebay arnt big enough in diameter.
-
I hear they like a smaller box and a lower tune im guessing the low tuning is where small port area comes into play
like how low of tuning? whats steves at?
-
Hey, just curious, do the smd subs not require a lot of port area? i was looking at the member builds and you guys might have seen this guy thats putting 2 15" smd's in his jetta. the port looks to be like 5 or 6 x 16 or so, which is only like 80-100 cubes, and his box is 8 cubes. thats only like 10-13" per cube. i also recall that steve's is pretty damn small too for (4) 18's!
-
please, i need some more pro advice!
-
some people on the car audio forum say firing up in trunk wont work... what do you guys think
-
-
slot ports are always easier to fit than aero ports. how much space from port to bottom of the box? how tall is your box? what size ports? what tuning?
I would have about 5 inches from bottom of port to bottom of box since there going to be 12" long. Box id 17" tall, Roof in trunk is 20" Tall. ports are 3" and im doing about 8 of them. 36 hz
-
Either will do. I like slot ports better. But if you dont have the room you dont have the room.
I was thinking more like the ports are really close to the trunk lid and might flow weird.
thats what i was worried about but someone at Audioque said i could put 6" if i wanted because he said the rule of thumb for aeroports is 1/2 the diameter you need for clearence.
-
It would work. I dont think its the best though. But do what you can.
will it sound different than if i put a slot port?
-
Im Planning On Putting 2 15" AQ HDC3's In a 8 Cube Box (After Displacements) Facing The Rear Of My Trunk In My Sedan.
The Only way i can properly give the subs enough port area is to put aeroports on the top of my box... (aeroports inside box)
Aeroprts will be 3" wide and im doing 8 of them (12" long). 36 hz tuning
Box is 17" high
Will this design work fine? I have about 3" clearance from the top of the box to my trunk roof.
