  1. So one of my friends asked about HID's on facebook the other day and what temperature he should get for his car (2012 acura tl).. and to make a long story short some smartass comments saying that he doesn't recommend them because he would have to change his alternator at the same time since HID's would kill out the alternator. i laughed so hard at this lol and when i laughed and said i never heard of this before the kid actually had the balls to say "welcome to knowledge" LMFAO so i asked him what was his basis for this and he says " HID's need more electricity than normal lights. electricity comes from the battery. the battery is charged by the alternator. if the alternator is strained, it'll stop working altogether and the car will run straight off the battery. then it'll die on the parkway and you'll be stuck." from 1 pair of HID's!!? that was a good laugh

His car has factory HID. what did he want to do, rice it up with some blue lights? have less light output?

  2. Doing some work for a friend.

car is a 62 Thunderbird automatic, 390 motor.

I will be installing this following.

2 way alarm with various sensors, battery backup, key less entry.

    Power door locks

Adding hazard lights using the parking lights.

    Factory look-a-like radio with USB.

factory radio was AM only but at some point had a cassette player with infinity speakers and RF amp added.

This light has not worked in about 12 years.

the radio was grounded through this strap

Rear speakers were not hooked up, amp power was not hooked up, one set of RCA's was stuffed under the rear seat, and the speaker wire that was going to the front speaker from the amp was also cut. The only sound was from the factory-ish radio to some 3.5" infinity speakers.

  3. I hit all the beaches between NAS Pensacola and Panama City and really you can't go wrong. There is a stretch outside Gulf Breeze that is some state park or something and it is nice open sand dunes/beach. If you want the bars and crazy beach experience just find a city like GB or Panama city and hit the beach bar scene really can't go wrong on the Gulf side.

I have lived in fort walton for 21 years of my 22. fort walton is right in the middle of pensacola and panama city. I have been all over florida and i think this area has the best beaches. The sand on the atlantic side is really coarse but the sand here on the gulf side is like powder. I also think the water is much nicer on the gulf side.

  4. Oh God the Gen3...

Just letting you know, don't be too bummed if the one you get is DOA. We use Gen3 as work and about 50% of them are dead and have to be RMA'd. When they work, they're a damn fine board, but it sucks when you build an entire PC just to find out the board is fucked.

    edit-

My only complaint is that you're using an SSD as your storage drive as well. SSD's tend to have a fairly high fail rate (depending on the brand), and it would probably have been cheaper to go with a 60gb or 80gb for boot files and a 320gb for storage.

Other than that, it seems like a nice build. :drink40:

I have a few 750gb 7200 rpm drives that are also going in. Crossing my fingers on the motherboard.

  5. The GT 520 is a horrible card. You'll want something in the GTX 560+ or Radeon HD 6850+ range to compliment the other components in this build. The GT 520 isn't much more than Intel's built-in graphics.

I dont play any games, the card is fine.

If it's not for games then why spend the extra $55 to get the card? Intel's HD Graphics 2000 will handle nearly everything that card will. Grab a H67 or Z68 board that uses the onboard graphics and ditch the GT 520.

The Z68 chipset supports all the features of P67 but includes the onboard graphics support plus a few other features. VGA, DVI, and HDMI out on this board. It's $11 more but you're saving $40 over buying the video card.

    Only trying to help. :drinks:

I have dual monitors. could I use the hdmi and dvi on the motherboard at the same time?

Yup. Z68 allows up to 2 independent monitors off the integrated graphics. HDMI + DVI would be no issue.

ok put in a cancellation request on amazon for the motherboard and video card. ill wait till that is confirmed to order the other motherboard.
