  1. I have an oppertunity to purchase 2 bnib lightning audio strike 4.1000.1. I havnt realy ever heard much about them but I do know they are made by fosgate so they should be pretty solid. I'm going to be strapping the two together.

Does anybody have any experience with these? If so how did you like them?

  2. What kind of headunit do you have?

    Pioneer DEh3300

Im pretty sure ill run and check.

Yeah, that power is more suited for a 3500 sub like mine, you should strap two of those 2000bds and lower the gain a bit, then it will be full ;)

Ha yea thats plan soon hopefully haha

Gain should be matched to head unit signal voltage. Not speaker impedance. If the signal into the amp is 4v, you set the gain at or around 4v. Doesnt matter if its 1 ohm 2 ohm 4 ohm or any ohm on the output side. Gain is an input adjustment.

Ok that makes sense thank you. So if i had a higher quality HU say like 6v i could tunr the gain up more with still with a clean signal

  3. Turning the gain all the way up does not mean turning the amp all the way up to 2,000 watts. And I'm going to guess there's some clipping now.

Yes I know that was the point i was trying to make to my friend. i dont know if there is cliping there is no audible distortion but i think by friday i should be gtting o scoped. Thanks for the input tho.

And supercharged DDs i cant wait to get it playin full tilt man this thing will still laugh at that power.

  4. I have a 9512 D2 hooked up to a RF T2000bd. I currently have it running at 4 ohms. I have my gained turned a little more than half way up to prevent clipping. My friend and I got into a discussion about how i should be able to turn my gain up full safely since im only running it a 4 ohms. My thoughts were even at a low power I would still create a clipped signal which would damage my equipment.

My question is since im running my amp at such little power and great efficiency would i be able to turn my gain up all the way and be safe at the low levels of power?

  5. I was on my way home playing my system and all of a sudden my highs and mids stopped playing. I thought a wire or two had gotten loose. When I got home i pulled the head unit to check all the wires. All the connections seemed alright. It was extremely hot to the touch and it smelled sort of odd. My bass was still playing fine and everything seemed to work alright on the head unit.

Im not running any amps to my door speakers or 6 1/2s which are all stock.

The car is a 2000 grand marquis.

The headunit is a pioneer DEH3300.

    Thanks for the help.
